They should do more of that again. It would help them on the predatory PR lootbox argument too.
You do realise that giving free crown crates was more likely a way to get people TO buy them right?
If that was the case why did the stop giving them. Wouldn't they want more ppl to buy them?
For some people - the road to an addiction starts with "The first taste is free....".

I’m not talking about buying and flipping. You could just skip traders entirely and offer in zone chat for 25k and it would be snatched up. You did say that gold was appreciated so I thought it worth mentioning.2 -

Wow 25k gold - not that long ago we got 100k. Wouldn't wonder if they start taking gold, telvar and AP from us soon.

30. june: - 15k AP
Just a note - this months collection of gold/etc matches the long-term pattern. The 100k months are exceptions, not the rule. It is not any kind of sign of a downward trend.2 -

✭✭✭✭✭I really wish there was a way to skip a reward. I'd be happy to take the stuff in front of that hat and I'd be happy to take the stuff behind that hat.
I just don't want that ugly thing added to my hat collection as just another item I have to wade through to find the stuff I really want to wear. Sigh.
It is getting to the point where we need a "favorites" for the collections.
I've been saying we need a favourites option for collections for ages, it's annoying if you have lots of items in a category but only certain ones you use on each character.
If you're on PC there are addons which can help. My favourite is Votan's Collectible Most Recently Used which adds a 'recently used' section to the top of each group of collectibles.
It's not quite perfect for me because if you use a collectible to see how it looks it's added to the list until something replaces it, but it's the best I've found so far for the way I want to use it (most importantly it doesn't have a seperate menu or hot-key system, works across all collectibles and it has seperate lists for each character).
I also use Random Mount which lets you set which mounts and pets each character will use and then swaps between them randomly. OMG, really??? That’s just ridiculous, but I easily believe some people would make such complaints.
I would say that’s why we can’t have nice things, but I rather suspect crates are no longer given as daily rewards because many people got enough for what they wanted that way. 2 -

Seriously, there might have been the occasional thread complaining about the possibility of addiction but nearly every month there was a thread complaining about what was in them, and even threads complaining about the threads complaining.
(I only went through the first few pages of search results for 'free crown crates' I'm sure there's more.)
If you're damned if you do and damned if you don't you may as well do nothing and save yourself the hassle. i guess I'm not the only one here and the free crates and the gems kept me floating.
But we will soon earn crown gems in game withe the new system.
Now this might also be an way armor proof against legislation or that they are more interested in waling.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

They gave away too many free crates that first year, lots of people ended up with piles & piles of Crown Gems, and didn't need to buy any of the followup crate seasons because they could just buy any of the small rewards they might be interested in.

✭I totally stopped crafting food and potions for overland adventures. Chicken and Tri-Potion work pretty good, so I'm happy with May rewards.

Seriously though... Seems like the monthly rewards are just getting... sadder... Like it's less incentive to even log in. Maybe it's just me, but we're lucky to even get a little hat or pet these days, and they're usually not high quality.

The Twitch crates aren’t full crates but Ouroborus crates which only contain the lowest tier stuff or around four Gems each. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad for any Gems I can get, but it’s not remotely the same.1 -

Twitch crates have also been reduced. We used to get 4 or 5 a month, it's now down to 2 at best.3 -
