@Gilvoth remember that you complained about someone raising a red flag about this, when in a couple months, you'll be in imperial city farming for a new monster helm only to be hit with 50k crit from a gankblade. In the back. Out of nowhere.

How do you play against that? If this goes through I have a khajiit nightblade I've been sitting on for a while that will have a new purpose....

Good, I’m glad we have people in the community willing to test these broken things and hopefully prevent them from going live. If they tested and played their own game then the community wouldn’t have to keep doing it for them.

As far as I remember, the bonus damage of sneak attacks was removed for PVP in 2017.

The PTS patch notes do not tell that the bonus damage is applied to PVP again, so maybe it is still only for PVE ...

That should hold true but this is zos we are talking about. So I still consider it too OP for PVE.
If it's in PvP the implications are nightmarish to say the least

Shhh, someone hit an overland mob for 100k with an ultimate! Don't be reasonable!

I'd be interested to see this in use in cyro or BGs. It likely won't even crop up in BG due to the lack of cp, so if there is even a little active population on PTS cp cyro, could someone share their assassination attempts?

There was also a 73K arterial burst in there as well. But soul harvest is a pretty cheap ultimate regardless. And at least on a gank build, you aren't really worried about needing it again immediately.

Fixed an issue where the guaranteed Critical Strike and bonus damage from attacks made while hidden in crouch would fail on many attacks. It will now properly grant a guaranteed Critical Strike on your next Direct Damage attack, deal 46% bonus damage if a Ranged attack (now Magical and Martial, rather than only Martial), 275% bonus damage if a Melee attack (Magical and Martial, rather than only Martial), and Stun the target on Martial or Magical melee attacks.
Note the bonus Critical Damage is still reduced significantly and these values are their original versions.

    Hahahahahhahahahahha.

Omg lol why. The whole "crit is OP" discussion is already "NBs burst is OP" discussion.
You gave everyone 20% crit resistance just because NBs are OP otherwise, nerfing all crit setups in PvP to completely unusable state.

And now you give bonus damage on attack from cloak, as if cloak's guaratneed crit wasn't enough in the first place?

This is clearly a big oversight. Remove that bonus damage completely.

You all haven't played pvp if you think this will be just as good there. Overland NPCs and trash mobs are the weakest of enemies you could ever encounter in the game and should not be taken as any accurate estimate of damage. You aren't gonna gank your way through a WB boss or a dungeon or trial either, so realistically this changes nothing for Nightblade in PvE. Do some proper testing in PVP before condemning a change.

Someone would have to test if the stealth bonus crit damage works against players. It used to but it was patched out intentionally during morrowind and nowhere in the pts notes does it say that it has been reenabled against players.
For people that werent around pre morrowind, with the crit damage from stealth it was possible to land 30k+ crits from stealth with a single ability which would oneshot most players back then.

They didn't add bonus damage to cloak, they added it to crouch attacks, which means you can use such an attack once in combat as an opener. Don't confuse this with cloak.

Nevertheless, this is overkill, it absolutely must be toned down.

The issue is that informing ZOS of anything a sorcerer does in overpowered is perfectly fine and needs immediate rectification.

When it has to do with a proc set or anything Nightblade related, then ZOS should ignore it.

This is why I'm not taking this thread seriously, btw. Not trying to shame you in particular Az, but malacath on pts was changed to allow crits.

No, I'm not suggesting what was presented is balanced. I suggest testing it on players who actually have more than 15% mitigation.

This is clearly busted and not intentional.. Why anyone is trying to defend it literally blows my mind. You don't need to test a 100k hit on a player to know it hits too hard. It will be somewhere around half that... maybe less, but not by much...

Here's another good example of what I'm talking about..

That mob has 7-14k resistances as an overland enemy.

Players have a higher resistance, but for giggles let's factor that out. Any player in the game has a base 10% damage mitigation, and the 50% malus from battle spirit.

    100k * .5 *.9 alone brings us to 45k.

That assumes a totally naked player with no crit resistance (somehow, because you have over one thousand and some-odd base), and any buffs that player might be using such as minor protection, CP direct damage mitigation, and player damage resistance.

Please, please, test this against a person and record the findings.

😂 Narcissism aside. When was the last time you hit a mob for 100k? I can guarantee that will hit a player for 30-40k and that is taking into account variable resistances.

There is no need to elaborate or rationalise this quite simply when was the last time I hit a mob for 100k in PvP gear.

Back in 2015/2016, I could heavy attack the back-alley thugs in wayrest for 70k from stealth with a greatsword. I'd record it to show it to you, but currently ZOS has borked the sneak attack damage (the fix mentioned above is to allow this to return). This was also before there was a 40% buff to heavy attacks with empower. With the new CP changes introducing a percentile increase to light and heavy attacks? I'd be more than willing to be my dog-crap tier hunding's and VO combo would provide close to that, if not the same 100k you're looking for. No gimmicky vampire toggle, no ultimate, just a freaking heavy attack.

But all this is entirely irrelevant to my query about how this handles a player, so I'll wait till someone posts that.

    This.

The guy in that video clearly doesn't understand how damage mechanics in ESO work. In the first 5 minutes he goes "I haven't been able to test this against a player yet, but I'm hitting for 100k against random NPCs so I assume it would be around 50K against players." He halves the number, making it clear he's only accounting for the 50% damage reduction from Battle Spirit--and not the fact that NPCs only have around 18000 armor. Any decent PVP build is going to have more mitigation than that, especially considering how good heavy armor is now.

Could this be a problem? Eh, maybe. But it's definitely not as bad as that clickbaity video is making it out to be.
