Well, the argument was basically some people can not be racist towards real people in real world because they would have to suffer consequence of their actions in RL.Supreme_Atromancer wrote: »Tommy_The_Gun wrote: »If they can be mean towards a virtual race, they would also be mean toward RL race.
That's faulty logic, and a risky and unfair assumption. Most functional adults can understand the difference between fantasy and reality.
I mean this with nothing but respect: I don't think its cool to go on and on about stuff, or if its clear that for whatever reason its harrassy or upsetting, it needs to stop. But its not good form to conflate these two things.
Tommy_The_Gun wrote: »Also, as I stated before, even if some one is racist towards virtual race, in a virtual world, that does not exist in RL - people who play that race and like that race exist in RL. So be being mean towards something like a fictional race - you are automatically mean toward people who for whatever reason have chosen said race and identify with their in-game avatar.

That's true of course, we are not our characters, but I believe there are some people who can really identify with their characters or feel somehow connected to them.

I don't identify with my characters as much as my characters identify with me. They represent me so they need to have certain characteristics to fulfill that role. Lizards and cats don't do it.

I'm the same way. Although not all of my characters identify with me, my main ones do. Two are khajiit and one is argonian. The ways they identify with me though aren't physical (except gender, needs to match mine).
My characters identify with me through personality like demeanor, life goals, past failures and victories, and other stuff like that. Despite them being khajiit and argonian and not physically looking like me, I still feel deeply connected to them.

The reasons it works for you are the same reasons it doesn't for me. I cannot connect to the personalities and demeanors of reptiles and animals. I just can't.

The show "V" during my adolescent years 😉

I'll ask this rhetorical question: is LEAST favorite race = Hate?
And also is this as NPC or the last race you would make an alt on?Jayman1000 wrote: »

Well I would never make an human alt in ESO, I don't hate humans as it is but they are boring.
Yes I can not make an Nuzhimeh lookalike and pug her who could be amusing and she is cute.
I saw this once doing surveys, think outfit is the npc hybrid ones.

What if there was a race of Spider-people, with 8 legs and spider bodies? Do you really think they would be super popular among human players? No way.
Argonians are revolting, a xenomorph looks more inviting than they do. I think they are an unfortunate design for a humanoid race in my opinion when there are an endless number of creative non-human races that could have been conceived of far more attractive than lizard-people.
