Companions are a great feature to have if you enjoy playing the game solo and also while specced in builds other than DPS like tank or healer. Also, it helps ZOS with money from their crown store.

The soloing in ESO is already a cakewalk.

Guess it will only be more bugs and lag. This game allready have to much bugs, and i never understand why people use useless pets.
Have fun and dont be rude. Im Norwegian so im sorry for my spelling, but hope u understand.

Why complain at this point about the addition though? What's done is done.

It also comes from a mindset of scarcity - like it has to be one or the other. I just do not see the point in asking "Why did they implement it?" They've already said why. What do you expect to happen - that they remove it? A bit late at this point.

Companions, like the other features, will be expanded on as time goes on. ZOS has to do both fixing and adding new stuff - that has always been the case for online games.

If you want a focus on performance then say that. If you want a focus on PvP features in the next chapter then say that.

but ultimately a thread dedicated to bashing is not going to be productive

Think companions are additional outfit slots that we can grind.
I'd like to have social option to hide foreign assistants/pets/companions and their owners.
It will save bandwidth and decrease loading times.

It's part of their solo player project so social outcasts can have their own gear, dungeons, and a means to complete pledges, world bosses, also quest faster. Practically play the game as if it was the next single player title.

A lot of wasted time it is for me personally. Tbh on their place I'd stick with stuff that will be used by more people than just that, like you can't use it in solo arenas and pvp so it's pretty much exclude half of the active population. Sure it might draw more ES people to the game but it's a lost year yet again for a lot of already playing/paying players.

There is a lot of things people crave for be it qol stuff or new features but we're getting this, only hope that next content drops would have at least something more useful and fresh than a talking pet lying of a dungeon floor.

From the looks of things they'll be too weak to be of use in combat, but what you can do is set your companion to attack other people's companions, so we can have sort of Pokemon-like battles with them.

"Bastian - I choose you!" "Bastian! Use kick!"

Should be great fun. Or it would be great fun if ZOS wouldn't remove this because they hate fun.

The devs get a lot of things right, then there's so much they get wrong, this is one of those times where they get questioned.

I'll probably skip this dlc and wait till it's a part of the bundle deal for the next one. It doesn't have the weight of previous DLCs.

If they wanted the game to be an open world TES game like the rest, that decision should have been made when they started developing.

Heavy handed nerfs, sets that are going to get nerfed, and a system being introduced when the pet AIs already don't work? Doesn't make sense.

To be fair, it was the shift to make ESO like the single player games that contributed to its comeback success. If they just focused on it being an MMO it probably would not have had its second chance.

People wanted the TES experience plus friends.

Hardcore players definitely are not the target audience for this expansion.

It's extra annoying if you are in a PvP player in which case there is nothing in the Chapter for you apart from a particular highly OP-looking Mythic item.

But it is what it is. There are heaps more casual players than there are hardcore PvE or PvP players and ZOS is trying to maximize their investment in the content.

Hopefully one day there will be a Chapter that throws more than a tiny token bone to the combat system (e.g. another Weapon Line, Guild, more skill morphs, etc.) and especially to the PvP community.

As a PVE i find the pvp community annoying, same with the pvp content! Not only you get to be perma stopped by some dude with over 50000 hours of gameplay but also 1 hit by anyone. Pve builds don't work in pvp so my godmode catdog is useless outside of pve. To make things worse, some really good content is pvp locked. Factions are annoying. I started as a khajiit so i get to struggle in the weakest faction. Every time I go to cyrodiil all i see is all factions always hoarding the entire map while my faction barely had 1 single castle. If i try to get some work done, then i can't because there will be the pvp players ready to gang up on me and kill me in less than 3 seconds. If i get a group of 10 players, those same pvp guys will nuke all of us in less than 10 seconds. The whole cyrodiil and sewers are frustrating. I try to do a world boss and mind my own business but no! One DC or EP comes and it is like if he has an ich that can only be sated by killing me who didn't try to attack him or get into his way, JUST MINDING MY OWN BUSSINESS!.

Have you tried the morrowind multiplayer mod? Seriously it is really good depending on what server you play and you can set up your own.

If not then a rapid diversity of available companions sooner rather than later would round out the feature, including:

    1. An antiquarian who gives you the exact location of treasure map chests and Antiquities while summoned.

    2. A Thief who distracts guards when you get caught stealing/murdering.

    3. A Hunter who kills warden bears that block NPCs and intractable objects.

    4. A Squire who reduces equipment damage or repairs items.

    5. A Vampiric thrall (Ghoul Brynner) who stops your vampire stage changing when summoned.
    and
    6. A Flying Imp who protect owner from mudballs by cathing them and trowing back to attacker :P

It's not the companions that made that series. It was the engine and the mechanics, being about to snipe something no longer within my few was the beauty of the franchise.

Right now we have too many things. I had to port from my bank the other day because I could not get out the door. Too many things in the way.

The stupid pets in banks will just get worse, when there are companions too.

Every normal base game dungeon (without a mechanic that requires another person standing or clicking something) is soloable.

Are you talking about the areas' public dungeons? Cause I know endgame players who wouldn't solo through base game undaunted dungeons UNLESS they were endgame players, not to even mention DLC dungeons. This is not doable even if you are 600 CP. I know. I regularly do public dungeons by myself as a 660 CP DPS, even the group bosses, but I still wouldn't do the undaunted dungeons without at least one other high CP groupmate.
