NA maintenance. Possible to push it back 2 more hours?

So that twice a week here in Australia it would at least shut down at midnight and we could get a decent nights play in. As it is it's in our prime time and if it were once a week I could handle it but twice is a bit much. Blizzard addressed this and did it with WoW. Is it possible here also please?
Just asking nicely as it really does ruin it 2 nights a week.
Thanks for reading.

If you push North America maintenance back 2 hours you push it into North America daytime. So, no.

Blizzard has tons of servers, ZOS has two. So they cant do what Blizzard did, and if they move it to another time, it will just affect another group of people.

At most, they can build another server, but that would not be advisable as Oceanic people tend to leave games faster than US/EU players.

I think it is a great idea, as the downtimes become shorter with proficiency, shoot for ending the downtime at the current time, but start it a bit later. Maybe work for a weekly update instead of bi-weekly, eventually. If bi-weekly is locked in stone, how about Monday/Thursday.

I am a west coast american that likes to start my day at 4:30 AM, which means playing with mostly slightly intoxicated austrailians most of the mornings, is a lot of fun.

probably because Tuesday/Thursday are too close together.

I dont know what they are doing during the maintenance besides applying patches/fixes, but if it relates to a resource bug or saving/backup of data, or even a DB process that is better done offline, then Tuesday/Friday would be the optimal setup.

So US Weekday 10am-1pm > Aussies prime time. Come on be reasonable.

As it is, when we enter daylight savings in our summer, maintenance will be 8pm here.

It is what it is and I'm not trying to be mean, but you're a very small portion of the population and even though you all do complain about it on the forums, it's only a small percentage of what would happen if they changed it by two hours and disrupted way more people.

I do feel for you but at the same time, it makes complete sense. Sorry.

Similarly, most MMOs have multiple downtimes/patch times at the start. It is for multiple reasons, but they eventually get everything sorted and revert to the Tuesday maintenance standard.

I dont think this will be forever.

The reason we leave is because maintenance is usually right in the middle of our prime gaming time ;)..

but on another note.. my main post on here got Maintenance moved from Fridays to Thursdays so thats a small win for us Aussies.. i would love is Maintenance was 5 hours earlier.. but i picked the greater of the battles that i actually had a chance of winning.. and for that i am happy ;)

5 hours easlier wouldnt hurt US players.. im sure at 3am you guys are heading off to bed or atleast thinking about it.. sure its going to hurt someone.. but that would bring the maintenance times to 5pm Aussie time .. just before dinner when we want to spend time with the family anyway.. and 2 hours later 7pm. perfect for gaming for the rest of the night.. it works for both US and Aussie players.. only people that is doesnt work for is New Zealand which they would end up with 8pm which is pretty *** but if we are looking at the smaller community which most Americans claim when talking about maintenance is the NZ guys here..

ZOS, could you make the maintenance starting around 2-3am EDT? like 5 hours earlier from the current schedule.

Since you guys works like 24/7 even on good Friday  so early maintenance wouldn't hurt right?

it's US off peak and Oceanic non-prime time. So it's a win win for all of us.

Right. West Coast players definitely aren't up at 11-midnight playing. Not a peak time at all.

Do you really think the developers don't analyze the numbers to see when the fewest people are on?

I bet ZOS has tons of servers too that are clustered to make it up to megaserver :)

2 hours later would be great. Or 4 hours earlier. Sucks to lose prime time Friday.

These threads will be ignored for several reasons:

    1. They are clones of the same complaint posted every single maintenance every single week. WoW has maintenance once a week and people have still been complaining for years.
    2. Maintenance will always inconvenience somebody somewhere. You may say it is your prime time, but it isn't for everyone.
    3. They decided on maintenance two times a week because the servers probably need to be maintained more often. WoW was used unfairly as an example, but they have a lot of small servers. This game runs the entire player base on 2.
    4. Somebody somewhere in marketing and logistics did a survey of the number of players on during different times of day and decided that these times have the least amount of people. Also, this is probably when the maintainers come to work on US time.
    5. Welcome to the official forums, where reasons to end threads are made up and personal opinions and feelings don't matter.

Im Aussie and Id rather the maintenance be at 10pm then 5pm. 5PM is closer to prime time than 10pm is. Just have an early night for once or invest the time into an extra hour or so towards the late night *** you watch.

It will always be somebody's prime time. US people lose prime time. Oceanic people lose prime time. European people lose prime time.

It happens. The other option would be for them to not patch at all because god forbid it touches somebody's prime time hours. Since that's an unacceptable answer... dealing with it seems to be good.

Would everyone be able to agree to at least doing it Monday Thursday instead of Friday. Maybe 2-3 hours earlier would also be good.

Friday 8am EDT is 8PM Singapore, 9PM Tokyo, 8PM Shanghai, 10PM Sydney... on Friday night.

North American players would be furious if maintenance was happening every Friday night at 10PM.

For you maybe, but not for everyone on this side of the world Vlas. Would moving it to Thursday instead of Friday really negatively impact a large player base somewhere?

Insanity ... I live in North America and 8am EST is just stupid (6 AM) my time so its not so bad for me...But like a earlier post Aussies get screwed...5 am est would be alot better for most groups even the EST time zone people.

LOls an accommodating maintenance schedule, LOLS!
  • adam.s.jonesub17_ESO
Thursday makes much more sense than Friday 8am, this is weekend prime time for Aussie and Kiwi, and people take off Fridays. really Friday Sat Sun should not be used, any others days are fine. That being said I'm sure the 2x week maint will eventually stop and we will prob be on the industry standard Tuesday.

Mondays are used to verify patches before implementation onto the live server.

So Tuesday is required, based on this... Friday is the most optimal day at this time for them.

Like I said before, once they get the maintenance policies figured out, they will probably go to just 1 day of maint.

Even WoW was like this when they started.

6am est would be perfect but we all know zenimx wont shut down the servers at 6 am est cause they wont be at work and the idea of having a rolling work schedule to accommodate issues out of est normal work times is as foreign to them as fixing bugs. (quests still broken since launch)

Thanks for all the replies guys and I can understand everyone's point of view. I honestly wouldn't have had a problem with it if it were just once a week and not twice. Hopefully that will change in the future.
Cheers again for the replies. :)
