The Great Player Roster Purge - A sentimental punch in the gut

Heya,

I wish I knew that the details regarding my friendlist, and the specific details of each player being wiped clear would have been mentioned. It might not seem like a big deal, but having a Last Login Date and Location of each friend was important to me. I know several people have deceased friends/family that used to play ESO and kept their accounts 'friended'. I understand this is a digital playground but you guys just bulldozed some electronic tombstones.

Agreed. I assumed this was just a bug and that the information would come back. I would've screenshotted some of the names if I'd known they were going to do it.

when the CP2.0 was introduced, the player lists were all somehow reset, and all last locations/logins were reset in some form to null until people log back in... something people that no longer play, or are deceased, will obviously no longer do. which means those will no forever be stuck in a null state.

Something it would have been nice to know would happen ahead of time, I think the original poster means, simply because we could have screenshotted our friends list for these old friends we had who we miss. I can sympathize. I had someone who passed away directly after logging out of a trial. I sometimes would just go back and look at the last log in date and location in the same way someone would go and visit a place of memory. Its sad that, that is gone.

    Wait, what happened?

Guild and friend lists no longer show relevant information about player's status and location.
For example, my friend list only shows right information about few friends who've logged in since yesterday's patch. For all other friends, it shows that they were all online 1 minute ago - and no info about their last location and their level. But in fact none of those people was online a minute ago - some people were not online for months and years :'(
Imagine having a good friend who quit ESO in 2018, and now he suddenly shows as being online a minute ago... every time I look at my friend list after changing zones or relog. It brings his name back to the top of the list; it also brings up good memories, and disturbs the wound of not being able to play with the friend for years.

Sadly, this bug started on PTS and made it's way to live :|

@ZOS_GinaBruno do you know if there is going to be a fix for this? For guilds who have an inactivity policy this makes it hard to see who has not logged in for a certain amount of time so we can free up spots for new players.

It's a bug and is being looked in to. Gina made a comment on it. The comment can be found in the dev tracker tab.

Thanks. I tried searching and didn't see that.

I too had a deceased friend on my list. It's sad that info is gone.

Also, it makes it impossible for a GM to manage guild hirings and firings based on length of stay, as well as length based promotions.

At least some of it does seem a bug. Not only you can't see the info on people who haven't logged in since the patch - you can't see people who HAVE logged in since the patch, but not in this immediate gaming session of yours. Like the moment you log in (or at least the moment I log in), ALL my offline friends are listed in that 'null' state, and the timer just counts down from my log in time - they all proceed to '3 mins ago, '5 mins ago', etc. However, when someone logs off while you're online, it will list their info. It definitely looks like a bug and I'm really hoping they can not just fix it in timely manner (which would be very nice) but also get the old data back regarding the people who haven't logged in since patch. I'm really hoping it's just some disconnect issue between the database and the game and not thet they only keep the info relevant for the current session now.
