Big performance improvements there.. which shall never happen, meanwhile we'll see what the final metrics bear out about all of the improvements we should see that motivated a great many of the changes.

So far I like all the changes, except for the green CP part(should all be passives). I have yet to try tanking, but I will probably get to that by the weekend.
PS: It took me 10 hours to respec 18 characters completely. Please never have us do this again!
oh my - the rule is "never trust the client" - if they move it back, it would open the game to even more cheats and it will be horrible. Didn't they learn from the past, when they had already ignored that rule.

I'm probably not qualified to say this remotely, buut I'll say it anyways.QuebraRegra wrote: »

Guys why dont u see that people dont like this changes? Just look at forums? 90% of all threads are about disappointment. Really just take a look. ZOS your main problem is NERFING your own game(doesnt matter what is the reason PvP or PvE). People want to see some progress from patch to patch, from chapter to chapter... but alas... u are constantly nerfing everything. Maybe you stop this? What u think? This game is wonderful but...
Hope Microsoft will change your nerfing policy soon

As a fan of making hybrid characters I feel this patch gives me way more options to have those builds viable for more content. That alone earns this patch a big thumbs up from me.
Most people I talked to in guilds, in game, etc seem happy. Ever heard of the people who will cry will be the loudest?
Spaghetti code. Doing dozens of calculations that don't actually contribute anything every second. We know there's tons of it in the game. They've literally removed 60 gigabytes of code from their game before because they determined it was all useless and didn't do anything. At the time, I believe that was about 2/3rds of the entire game size. Holy crap. Holyy crap.

Most people who are upset with the game's direction aren't playing any more, either because they've quit entirely or have cut back on their playtime and are less likely to be complaining about it in guild chat or on discord.
Like me, for example. I quit almost a year and a half ago and I like to hop on the forums to see if they've fixed any of the issues that made me quit, realize that they either haven't or they've gotten worse, and then pat myself on the back for quitting earlier rather than giving into the sunken cost fallacy and pretending that I'm still having fun playing.
The in-game, chat active player base aren't any more likely to be an accurate representation of how well the changes are being received than the forums are. It's just a different customer segment. The only people capable of figuring that out are Zenimax, assuming they're actually collecting and paying attention to the telemetry.
I believe it was update 25's Patch Overhaul? Can't find the exact numbers, but it definitely stripped a lot of spaghetti.Spaghetti code. The game isn't much larger than 60GB... when did they do this? (Edit my game is 77 GB right now)
That was in reference to the Cyrodiil test where they disabled procs and found no noticeable increase to performance as a direct result. I do believe they have addressed performance as part of this last patch.
The reason why there's lag in PvP?

light armor has something what made me wonder, if this is intentional or not. One of my characters never used light armor before - this time I gave her light armor - skill line was immediately added - and she had 12 skill in light armor - why's that?

You probably had a single piece of light armor equipped at some point in the past. Maybe unintentionally.
So the, "locked," armor and weapon lines are different from locked world and guild lines. You can earn XP in a weapon or armor line before it's revealed. Once it is revealed, all the XP you've earned towards it becomes visible immediately.
(I've actually seen a writ monkey unlock a weapon with 12 ranks in the skill line.)

it was on 2 characters like this and both didn't have a light armor skill line before - and as well rank 12. maybe we start out with this now, who knows - it would be nice, because 2 passives are available right away then.

On one hand, yes, the fact they're willing to optimize is promising. On the other hand, the fact that there was that much code *to* optimize is very, very worrying.Honestly, the fact that they're willing to optimize so much of their code and make sweeping changes to performance is promising, freeing up that much code is a good thing, not a bad one, it means they're willing to listen to complaints. I don't much like the balance changes made in this patch and will freely admit that I believe them to be a step in the wrong direction, but I'm still capable of spotting improvements when they crop up, and either my crappy internet has miraculously upgraded overnight, or this last patch brought some much-needed changes to streamline the game and enhance performance. Perhaps it was the old CP calculations ZOS mentioned all along that had something to do with it.

Dunno, they also struggle to listen it seems way more often. Big example in this patch, actually. ZoS says the new vertical cap is 1200, and it's all horizontal afterwards. Players have been warning them for months that it's closer to 1800, and they didn't do anything about that.ZaroktheImmortal wrote: »ZOS rarely listen to their playerbase when it comes to changes I mean most people agree they screwed up with the vampire changes yet nothing has been done to fix that.
Well, we did manage to put a curb on some of the more negative stats that came out of Vampirism changes. Namely the penalties were not quite as bad as they were intended to be and that change was a direct result of others as well as myself advocating for it.
However unfortunately the ship has long set sail on Vamp and so we're left with what is for now. This coincides with what I was explaining to another person on here about how once they do something it's usually a done deal.
I'm an altaholic, so have a full roster on one account, and half on a second that I have to reset the points for. *That* is not my favorite thing about this. However, on the characters I've reset so far, I'm actually liking, at the least not unhappy with, the changes. Besides a chance to redo any characters I wasn't happy with, the ones I've done so far seem to be faster, stronger, and sturdier than before.
Before anyone brings up proc sets or pvp; I avoid it because I really don't enjoy pvp or the mindset for it. So any changes to that part of the game would not be an issue for me.
