yes... the real way to improve performance 9wait wasn't that the stated goal of 2020!?!?) would be to move some of the calculations BACK to the client side that were moved to the server side, and to change the communication protocol between the client and servers to UDP (with RTP sequencing) from TCP currently being used.

Big performance improvements there.. which shall never happen, meanwhile we'll see what the final metrics bear out about all of the improvements we should see that motivated a great many of the changes.

oh my - the rule is "never trust the client" - if they move it back, it would open the game to even more cheats and it will be horrible. Didn't they learn from the past, when they had already ignored that rule. A korean game can do that, because an account is linked to the personal id and a misbehaving player can reliably be locked out of the game forever - but in other countries it would just open the gate for cheats.

So far I like all the changes, except for the green CP part(should all be passives). I have yet to try tanking, but I will probably get to that by the weekend.

PS: It took me 10 hours to respec 18 characters completely. Please never have us do this again!

Does that really matter? There is a well-known cheat program that is apparently still widely used with ESO. It isn't like ZOS is famous for being on the front lines implementing the latest in anti-bot and anti-cheat technology. If ZOS was all over bots and cheaters, I'd be inclined to say "leave it on the server".

Sigh. I am not even half way through around 30 of them. Then, I have to do it all over again on PS4 with characters over there. I don't even want to contemplate those people I know who really have a lot of alts.

I'm probably not qualified to say this remotely, buut I'll say it anyways.

The reason why there's lag in PvP?
Spaghetti code. Doing dozens of calculations that don't actually contribute anything every second. We know there's tons of it in the game. They've literally removed 60 gigabytes of code from their game before because they determined it was all useless and didn't do anything. At the time, I believe that was about 2/3rds of the entire game size. Holy crap. Holyy crap.

I too like all the changes, apart from the Crafting tree because I hate how I have to now micromanage what were automatic passives pre-patch. However, I'm hopeful they'll rework some of those based on the feedback.

Re-specs for my 18 characters took a couple of hours, because I had the add-on to save and load my skill points automatically, and the new add on for auto loading CP 2.0 with some presets I just had to tweak. So all in all it went faster than expected.

As a fan of making hybrid characters I feel this patch gives me way more options to have those builds viable for more content. That alone earns this patch a big thumbs up from me.

Guys why dont u see that people dont like this changes? Just look at forums? 90% of all threads are about disappointment. Really just take a look. ZOS your main problem is NERFING your own game(doesnt matter what is the reason PvP or PvE). People want to see some progress from patch to patch, from chapter to chapter... but alas... u are constantly nerfing everything. Maybe you stop this? What u think? This game is wonderful but...
Hope Microsoft will change your nerfing policy soon

    I'm fine with the changes.

More importantly, I'm fine with the game experiencing changes. People have complained about every change that has ever happened to the game since 2014 from one perspective or another, but if none of those changes being criticised had been implemented because some of the players didn't like them then we'd still be playing the game as it was in 2014 which most, I think, would accept wasn't as good as it is in 2021.MMOs are meant to be played for years, not weeks or months, and as such they need regular change to keep them fresh. That's not forgetting, of course, that only some of the changes over the years have come just from the developers, most of them have been in response to calls for change from the players.

    I like the changes.

Performance seems initially much better, though I have no idea why🤔 maybe the cp was doing stuff when it wasn't doing stuff? Like in no cp!?

I thought I'd get fed up with the lack of sets in cyrodill, but it remains my favourite place to PvP as it feels most balanced. Apart from wardens 😂 if I do a BG it feels terrible to have 6 billion beams tethered to me at all times.

I like the boost to bottom end stats as it promotes active skill use. You hit players harder, but can heal better making the whole process more skilled(IMO).

I love the cp system, I like they reduced the xp required to level it. I have gained 10 levels from 4 hours of PvP and have nearly hit 1170.

I have crashed twice, but my only complaint so far 👍

Like me, for example. I quit almost a year and a half ago and I like to hop on the forums to see if they've fixed any of the issues that made me quit, realize that they either haven't or they've gotten worse, and then pat myself on the back for quitting earlier rather than giving into the sunken cost fallacy and pretending that I'm still having fun playing.

The in-game, chat active player base aren't any more likely to be an accurate representation of how well the changes are being received than the forums are. It's just a different customer segment. The only people capable of figuring that out are Zenimax, assuming they're actually collecting and paying attention to the telemetry.

A lot of veterans I've talked to are unhappy. I made a forum account after two years because I was unhappy and wanted to speak out on this patch specifically.

I believe it was update 25's Patch Overhaul? Can't find the exact numbers, but it definitely stripped a lot of spaghetti.

That was in reference to the Cyrodiil test where they disabled procs and found no noticeable increase to performance as a direct result. I do believe they have addressed performance as part of this last patch.

Honestly, the fact that they're willing to optimize so much of their code and make sweeping changes to performance is promising, freeing up that much code is a good thing, not a bad one, it means they're willing to listen to complaints. I don't much like the balance changes made in this patch and will freely admit that I believe them to be a step in the wrong direction, but I'm still capable of spotting improvements when they crop up, and either my crappy internet has miraculously upgraded overnight, or this last patch brought some much-needed changes to streamline the game and enhance performance. Perhaps it was the old CP calculations ZOS mentioned all along that had something to do with it.

You probably had a single piece of light armor equipped at some point in the past. Maybe unintentionally.

So the, "locked," armor and weapon lines are different from locked world and guild lines. You can earn XP in a weapon or armor line before it's revealed. Once it is revealed, all the XP you've earned towards it becomes visible immediately.

(I've actually seen a writ monkey unlock a weapon with 12 ranks in the skill line.)

it was on 2 characters like this and both didn't have a light armor skill line before - and as well rank 12. maybe we start out with this now, who knows - it would be nice, because 2 passives are available right away then.

It's possible. I had a character unlock the bow at level 12 awhile back. So that coincidence is pretty weird. That said, I suspect we can probably use something like Harven's extra XP bar addon to hook into hidden skill lines and track their behavior. I've also had armor skills unlock with 4 or 5 ranks already available.

Well, we did manage to put a curb on some of the more negative stats that came out of Vampirism changes. Namely the penalties were not quite as bad as they were intended to be and that change was a direct result of others as well as myself advocating for it.

However unfortunately the ship has long set sail on Vamp and so we're left with what is for now. This coincides with what I was explaining to another person on here about how once they do something it's usually a done deal.

Dunno, they also struggle to listen it seems way more often. Big example in this patch, actually. ZoS says the new vertical cap is 1200, and it's all horizontal afterwards. Players have been warning them for months that it's closer to 1800, and they didn't do anything about that.
There's also the undaunted celebration event, which got canceled... was it for 3 years in a row, because the group finder would break down every time?
Whack balance changes like Elf Bane, which everyone knew was overtuned when it got buffed but wasn't changed? Glitches associated with it, like the vMA staff which was warned of way ahead of time but wasn't fixed? A community so used to them ignoring that sort of thing that despite it only being on PTS, they farmed and spiked the price of Elf Bane and started using Asylum Staffs instead of assuming ZoS would fix the vMA staff bug?
Longtime bugs like Hel Ra Citadel's soft lock on the bottom boss? That's been a thing for five years, and it ruined a run last week.

I just hope my crafter doesn't become useless in normal combat or I'll probably stop playing out of frustration. I wouldn't mind switching to a damage focused player for a dungeon as long as they make ALL the achievement rewards account wide
