What is your favourite feature, that sets this game apart from others?

Please serious replies, no trolling or "fix cyro/performance" comments, the whole forum is full of those. Trying to create a positive discussion here.

For me it's immersion. All other MMOs feel like childish games. In ESO I feel like I travel to another world. My clean HUD, meaningful/mature quests, beautiful scenery and music, all of these components help with immersion.

I like the trial/raid and gear system. I like that every patch/new trial/etc, my old gear isn't suddenly obsolete just because of ilvl. Yeah, we deal with constant buff/nerf cycles, but (especially now with the stickerbook) the gear I have doesn't become vendor trash just because a new trial tier was released with higher ilvl gear.

Besides the setting of Elder Scrolls, with all its lore, characters etc?

I like the freedom among the classes. No matter what class I pick I can be stamina, magicka, tank, healer, dd.
The account-wide bank is nice too. It's great being able to get an item you really wanted for your healer but got it on your dd and be able to just throw that thing in the bank for you to pick up on the healer later.
The voice acting on all npcs.
Max level doesn't change. In some mmos this is seen as a bad thing and it constantly needs to be higher, but I like it that it stays the same in ESO, with no need to farm your gear for a new level.

I'm sure there is more, but those were the ones I could think of right now.

I like how robust the outfit system is. One of the more expansive outfit creation systems in any mmo I have played.

ESO has the best gear system in MMOs.

The best parts of the gear system are:
1) The fact that your gear doesn't become obsolete the second a new expansion comes out.
2) The variety of different sets.
3) The fact that specific activities drop specific sets (as opposed to the global RNG that some games have), so you know what activities you need to do to get the gear you want
4) The fact that most good stuff can only be traded with people who were in your group when it dropped.
5) The fact that traits are RNG but you can farm transmute crystals to get the traits you want when RNG fails (i.e. there's RNG but not too much RNG).

I could go on and on about how great the gear system is.

1. The fact that it's not pay2win, the premium store is actually reasonable
2. Like someone else said, i like that my gear doesn't immediately become obsolete with every update (see: neverwinter)
3. I like that there is a depth to the combat system that rewards practice and investment (perfecting weaving/rotation pays off)
4. I love the trader system

And most importantly:
5. I like the complexity of endgame pve (dlc hm dungeons and hm trials)

There' also things i dislike but that's another thread

The fact that developers respect players.If it were the other way around, everything else would not matter. I like what game is right now and what it will become next year.

I like thieving. The variety of items in Npc's pockets is overwhelming, they differ for every npc depending on profession, zone etc. I also like new "sticker book of gear" and transmutation. In other games, you have regrind stuff every now and then, now in eso, this problem is mostly solved. I also like outfit systems. In other games, I sometimes really liked how newbie clothes look, but there was no way to make bis gear to look like you want. And ofc, I like one tamriel system - zones became much more alive since it was introduced, and I can have fun with guildies regardless of their level.

The whole build/character customization system.
Crafting, skill lines, outfits.

The crafting system is less relevant for me now, (because outfits and endgame), but it left a very strong impression on me when I started. Only one main ressource needed to craft an item, the level being determined by the amount, then a trait and a style, being able to level it up by deconstructing your loot, etc...

Then for the gameplay, the ability to pick any race/class combo and then pick the abilities you want from the available skill lines. Nowadays you have access to most of the utility you need from shared skill-lines, so you can make up for what your class may be missing.

Outfits. Outfits.

Close second would be the voice acting.
I trief FFXIV, a couple time, and didn't get hooked, both times (I may try a second time in the future). Let's say trying FFXIV made me realize how privileged I was to have experienced a game fully voice acted.
It also made me realized how much I like the combat system.

Because, it's the honorable mention, the combat!

I think the trial mechanics could be better, more engaging, dungeons are usually fine, however, the combat itself made a very good first impression on me.
Simple, dynamc, impactful.
Very few skills, 2 bars, one ultimate, light and heavy attacks, no cooldown, only ressources, and then the impact, the combat feels palpable.

Clean Hud if you dont use addons. For me its like this because addons keep resetting

Also, Immersion. Before all these shiny mounts and similar I had fair share of immersion. Now to achieve that I need to be away from others.

Music is not bad.

Quests have their good and bad sides I guess.

My favorite feature is still PvP, and I will skip the performance part cause you want to keep it positive in here.
Something must be wrong with me, I know.

Yeah you hit the nail on its head.

Immersion wise, lore wise, content wise, nothing comes close to ESO.

I can spend hours just messing around looking at stuff and exploring or on outfitting alone.

When the game launched it was:
- fast paced combat without cooldowns
- Art / Animation relatively close to medieval times (only regular horses as mounts, no outfitting system, no fancy unrealistic weapons and armour)
- huge PvP fights
- immersive quests with challenging bosses

What keeps me playing currently:
- the people I met here
- fast paced combat without cooldowns
- theorycrafting

That very little of the story content requires you to group with other players and does not have large spikes in difficulty.

That you can play at least 80% of the games content on your own at your own pace.

The game has a healthy economy, that allows you to buy what you need and rare crafting mats are not locked behind group content.

That it is not hard to make a reliable regular source of gold, with daily writs.

Not having to individually join guilds with each of your characters one at a time.

The gear cap not changing every expansion.

The outfit system letting you set up the way your character looks so your not reliant on what the actual gear looks like.

That skill bars don't fill up half your screen with abilities you have to carefully choose your load out and combat for the most part not being based on a cool down based rotation like a lot of other MMO's combat.

That's some of it off the top of my head.

My favourite feature that sets it apart from other games (that I have played) is simply that, it's an MMO. I had never played one before ESO, and I doubt I will play another one as big as ESO

Everything is bind on account, allowing more open hand me downs and loot distribution to alts who may not be as up to par as others. It's also less gear going to waste, there is no something is acquired by the wrong character, if it doesn't fit it can still go to another.

Comparing ESO to other multiplayer game I play, GW2... It's a tough choice, because once I started flying on beautiful Griffons and changing colors of my mounts in GW2, ESO was never the same

There is mainly one thing which prevents me from completely migrating to other game so far: enjoyable overland content, and ability to solo almost everything.
I feel relaxed when I play ESO, almost all the time

When I play GW2, I feel relaxed only when coloring my mounts and during the Griffon flight - all other time it's huge stress of dangerous mobs and hostile environment everywhere

Give me ability to experience this magic in ESO, and I will even stop caring about nerfs and bad gameplay changes (like vMA and vDSA weapons in Greymoor) :

Fast flight + pretty colors of choice for my mounts and their effects + relaxed and enjoyable exploration = perfection

I like the voice acting too!
The stories are great and the world feels relaxing

The combat is nice but I liked the black desert combat too.

I like that every other player is a ally. In other MMOs open pvp often kills social interactions. This was the main reason I've switched back to eso, even if I play solo most of the time.

The outfit system is nice too, but the cloth animation is not soo great in my opinion. Other games have coats blowing in the wind or while walking. In eso everything is glued to the character.

I'm not saying it's the only thing I like about the game, but it is what sets it apart from other MMOs for me and the reason I started and continue to play ESO.

My other MMO is Guild Wars 2 and when I compare the two there's lots of similarities or things which are different but equally good, but all the things I think ESO does better seem pretty trivial. It's things like including housing, or letting you use different dyes on different costumes (utterly stupid that GW2 doesn't do that) or the fact that you can freely swap between any hairstyles, accessories etc. you've got unlocked instead of needing to use a kit for each change. All the bigger differences (like the combat systems) are things where I don't have a preference, I like (or don't mind) how both games do it.

It's not a bad game by any means, but if someone made an identical game without the TES setting I wouldn't be interested, unless they somehow came up with an equally interesting setting and someone managed to convince me it was worth checking out.

Having said that there's also lots of MMOs I wouldn't want to play even if the setting does interest me. I love Star Wars and I was obsessed with Warcraft when I was younger (and still like it today). I made my own 'choose your own adventure' book set in Azaroth (it was terrible, but I was about 11) tried to develop a DnD campaign and spent ages thinking about what a Warcraft RPG could be like. But I don't play either WoW or SWTOR because the game design puts me off (and with WoW originally the fact that they destroyed Quel'thalas and there was no option to play a sun elf...I understand that's changed now but it was a big issue for me originally).

In theory ESO could easily have gone the same way, I was very sceptical when I first heard there was a TES MMO. So ending up with a game where all the mechanics are things I either like or don't mind and a setting I really enjoy is pretty good going.
