War Tortes (Can a ZOS member reply please)

War tortes give exp towards alliance ranks AND alliance skill lines. The wording of the tool tip points towards a increased alliance skill line bonus and NOT a alliance rank exp bonus.

Dont get me wrong... I love it. The grind to rank 50 is painful so this is a welcome feature but I am unsure if it is intended feature since its worded in a way to not point towards a increased gain to alliance ranks.

I am wanting to know if this IS intended or if its NOT intended. So if a ZOS employee can please let me know that would be nice. I dont want to drop 3-5m on tortes in the next MYM event just to find out it was fixed.

Thanks!

If you search the forums I am not the first one to talk about this exact topic. I am just asking for clarification after many other people are brought this topic up.

Also, the tooltip makes it neigh impossible to sell these things, as no one understands they rank you up. If the intended purpose is to just get folks alliance rank 10 easier, it is a complete waste of an item, nevermind it coming in what, 3 strengths, 2 of which are so rare you could get rank 10 30 times over before finding the ingredients? Seriously, I made like 600 of these things and am sad I used the recipe now, at least that is worth something still. People look at this item and are like, I am already rank 10, why would I want it?

They are only of any use IF they increase AP gains, not just skill-line progression. It's too easy to get to 10 in the skill lines without it.

You don't understand, they buff your alliance points gained towards rank... all the way to Grand Overlord. Each rank is also a skillpoint, so basically you can earn skillpoints in PVP at an increased speed. They do not however, buff the AP currency you gain or count towards your campaign rank like the delve buffs do.

Bought from another. I know the 50% and 100% recipes. Paid 120k for each one. PC/NA. TTC shows them selling them now for 100k each.

With the amount of writs I do, gold is no issue, just wanted to get the GO achievement

Just tried it tonight for myself and indeed boosts AvA rank. It's tricky to catch as it doesn't boost your AP, but after my usual session I had about 50% more rank progress than my was indicated by the AP gain recorded by my add-on.

I would like a definitive answer by ZOS on whether the item is not working as intended, or the tooltip is simply wrong, because in the case of the former it could be considered an exploit.

Nice! For 100k each, I would buy them to get my Legate Black color (need two more levels, and I've already lost patience to play on same character again and again). But supply is too limited and unreliable :/

I'll just keep using 50% torte  Citrus is easily farmable, thankfully.

Sometimes I feel like it too... And then some interesting crown crate season arrives :D

Agreed, the tooltip could be more clear and say "Boosts Alliance War skill line and Rank Points" to avoid confusion. I've been called a liar for saying that it boosts Rank Points gain after rank 10, because "the tooltip doesn't say that." You would think that ZOS would want more people using the tortes (and buying the Crown Store versions) and therefore make what it does clearer..... but they seem to not be interested in that.

If it was an error and an exploit, trust that it would have been patched months ago. Just keep enjoying the benefits of getting the skill points, titles, furnishings, and dyes faster and be glad that the recipes are still relatively cheap. If everyone knew what they were missing, the value (and cost) would skyrocket.

I didn't believe it at first because it doesn't boost AP. So I fixed a wall, ate a torte, fixed a wall again. No difference. Hm, must be BS then.

It's only after I looked at my rank progression earlier tonight that I realized I'd advanced way quicker during that session than what my earned AP would indicate. It's really easy to miss, and maybe the reason the tooltip isn't accurate is because the person who wrote it didn't even quite grasp what it did and didn't boost.

I woulsd also like to know if its intended
As it would influance if i farm for the recipe or not

If its not intended, i wont farm for it as all my 18 character got their skill line to 10, so it wouldnt be useful. I did not farm for it for the las mayhem as i understood it would be useless to me

On the other hand if it is intended i would farm for it to get my legate black

So to be clear on live, they will buff your progress towards GO? They just dont result in helping your campaign leaderboard spot or the AP currency that you actually receive?

This is a very confusing tooltip and not how I understood they worked. I might actually get some of these now. Grats on GO. I just hit 44 and would like to make the push. This would certainly help my motivation.

As others have stated, if these only help you get to alliance rank 10, they are pretty worthless. If they affect skill rank and not campaign leaderboard for emp/rewards, I see no problem with them buffing your personal rank. But clarification would be nice.

Can you please have the tooltip changed, so they will become a sellable item, as currently no one but the few people who understand how they work buy them.

Would have been nice to know BEFORE the last few double AP events.

Except the war tortes aren't affected by double AP. Double AP gives you double Rank Points, whereas torts give you a 50/100/150% boost in Rank Points.

    Confusing, isn't it? :)

Yes but that's the OP's point. It is still useful to grind rank, beyond the level 10 skill line. I was doing exactly that during Mayhem. I killed a delve boss, used Pelinal's scroll and the war Torte 50%.

On my AP currency, I was making double AP plus the 20% delve boss buff so 100AP work would give me 220AP.

    On my AP rank, for every 100AP earned, I was making 270AP, i.e. 100AP + 100ap (Pelinal) +20ap (delve buff) + 50ap (War Torte).

I couldn't believe the war tortes were so cheap at the time, and bought about a hundred of them. It's of no use to a pvp player after rank 10 I guess but to a pve player (that isn't allergic to pvp) interested in dyes, furnishings and titles, it's very handy.

I guess I was lucky because I didn't pick up the ambiguity in the tooltip, and assumed the effect would continue on the ranks, beyond levelling the skill line. One of the few times when assumption wasn't the mother of all ....ups

To be fair, I'm a PvP player (multiple Emperor achievements), but I'm very interested in the dyes and furnishings. The titles I couldn't care less about, don't really use them. But to infer that PvP players aren't interested in housing or fashion would be incorrect.
