Things have just unhinged.

Before I rant, run my opinion into the dirt, or put negative energy into the room, I want to say that I care about the game. I remember being young and playing games like Morrowind and Oblivion and just hoping they took that world into the genre of something like RuneScape or World of Warcraft, which felt massive and overwhelming at the time.

I remember ESO being announced, and waiting years for it to be released, poking around in the beta at a friends house, and overlooking all the bugs for something I probably spent a decade just crossing my fingers to see come to fruition. Even counting down the final five seconds on the release screen with friends in a PSN party chat who were all eager to hop into this incredible game.

Things were never perfect, the game always had problems, but I think any veteran player will agree that we all just rolled with the punches, it was a big game, things were often rocky, but we all cared about it and stuck with it.

This last update is so different from iterations of the game when random bugs came to light that allowed people to desync people with emotes, or get into keeps, or even slay zergs and dungeons with camohunter. This last update had issues that were documented before release, widely known before release, acknowledged early within the PTS cycle, and then still released with the issues unchanged months later.

Some issues only relevant to end game such as minor slayer, some issues detracted enjoyment from a major portion of the player base such as the issues with light attacks in relation to their subsequent casted ability, some just blatantly surfaced as an extreme increase in error screens and performance drops within all areas of the game, not just the nearly unplayable performance wreck that is cyrodiil, ironically in a year named for performance fixes.

I’ve ran through the motions with this game from the very beginning, and I’ve seen problems arise, be frustrating, persist for too long and eventually receive a fix, etc, but this was just plainly disrespectful to your players.

As a player, you should feel disrespected, treated like your experience is unimportant as long as your money keeps coming in by a company that blatantly ignored bug reports and is not interested in solving performance issues.

Supporting this game with any money until that mistreatment is acknowledged is simply disrespectful to you, the player.
If we just allow this to happen in Markarth, expect this to happen in the future too.

If you really care about this game, cancel your sub, don’t buy any crowns, enough is enough.

Sorry you feel like this. I probably still fall into the camps of someone who loves the world so much that I'm actively ignoring the bugs (which I have to say have never really affected me as a casual player as much as they have this update!)

That said, seen this sentiment from a lot of veteran players and I do feel that ZOS keeps slapping you all in the face.

a bit dramatic but it seems to me it's worse/ pretty bad right now I'd imagine because when you change all the passives and skills and how they function in the entire game (which is very obscenely large) a lot of bugs pop up. For instance the dungeon disconnects according to the maintenance notes is from the boss's skills colliding? in a certain way.

Don't get me wrong, it's not an excuse to keep a game so buggy, just a reason why a lot of it is occurring.

Well, when ESO's problems got mainstream at release and "Angry Joe" and other big influencer's saw it.. then it light a fire under their ass. Remember? One Tamriel and all..

The *** they get away with now a days lol. I think YongYea would have a field trip going deep with this one.

I'm not advocating it but you can't deny ESO changed for the better after release and now it's like they're completely given up.
If they have given up I doubt even influencer's can light a fire under their ass anymore though.. At which point they're just going on autopilot... And that's sad.

I made a thread yesterday of how broken my experience with ESO was yesterday... Hours wasted playing a broken game being frustrated. Was called "Bugs bugs, glitches and potatoes" and people are like "yeah.. that's how it is"

The players are demoralized and I think the devs actually try to fix it.. With their 10 performance patches.. I'm not sure if they're not funded correctly or they can't fix their own game... Whatever it is.. Eso is in a sad freaking state ending 2020.

And that's after the pandemic gave them a huge influx of new players (and money) but they couldn't deliver.

If this is how 2021 will become ESO will become a sinking ship, and that's sad. It's my favorite franchise of all time.

Summarizing some things said on the forums, it's a beautiful game in a trash state.
I do feel disrespected a bit, but it's greatly overshadowed by how worried and disheartened I am, because I'm sincerely afraid of losing this game. At this point it looks like they are killing it in a literal way and on purpose.
During this year it went from "how could they have such terrible coding if art and writing (not you, Greymoor main quest) is so good?" to "why they bother with good art and writing if they don't give a heck about bugs and performance?"

Edit: now that forums are full of dissatisfied players, I wonder if that dissatisfaction is displayed outside of them? I mean, if the **** is boiling only here it's unlikely that ZOS would care.

I think without the changes in harrowstorm it would mainly be running better than ever. They got us to redownload the game telling us they were removing spaghetti code, but instead just moved that code server side and told us it was for performance. This was obviously for stadia.

Well it's not only this game I mean if you take a look at other newer games or films or even food in restaurants. The trend seems to be shiny looks with lots of promises that will never be fullfilled. The stuff ends up with low quality and It's not worth the money you have to pay but looks ok at the first glance until you discover the deeper hidden problems. The difference is in my opinion that there are not enough/strict laws for software/games. There is no love and no passion behind those rushed games/DLCs. Nowadays you can just throw alpha games on the market, release them and abandon them while making tons of money. You even get away with not working products. It's crazy...

I wish an american would sue some video game companies to set an example. So that others won't exploit their customers anymore.

It sure does look like the changes to accommodate Stadia did a disservice to essentially everyone except the people cashing the checks.

They did a great job turning the game around after launch, but I really feel when they went from repairing and improving to the cadence of 4 patches a year of content; everything went downhill. Bugs have stacked on bugs and yet there were and are still, a lot of people who will say they'll quit if they stop the content releases. Stadia is just part of that push to make money rather than focus on the integrity of the game and I'm not sure they can change course

I made the mistake to play Cyro again, today. Few players in a siege, I had to hit the same button like 3 times for the skill to fire. Not to mention that dmg on enemy players appeared after 2 secs.

Skill delay is worse than ever.

The integrity of the game has fallen to a point that’s completely unplayable for most people. I love this game and it’s encompassed most of my time spent across games being a journey many of us have walked for six years here with ZoS but this is just well beyond the line for many. We just can’t play anymore, finding enjoyment is difficult in the current state of performance, and knowing they know about the issues and that they actively ignore them is like spitting in our mouths and telling us to swallow.

I have never been so disappointed in this company in my life, to see how far in the hole they took this game in just one short year is baffling and the way they treated their consumers was despicable.

I’m personally quitting until things see an upward trend, I still care about the game and it’s community but I can’t work through the frustrating reality that this company does not care about its community and is completely unbothered by lying to them, cheating them, and mistreating them.

I definitely agree that it’s part of a trend, but the strongest point in my opinion within your reply is that the solution is within us, and that the consumer has to stop the positive incentive for a company to abuse its customers.

I remember when crown crates were a despicably impossible reality that not only could have never happened but were explicitly stated by the company as something that would never happen, yet they definitely 100% happened. People were furious, they were so, so, so furious, and now it’s like the smoke fizzled for game performance and releasing known issues that cause major obstruction of gameplay.

This can’t happen again. Sure, it’s just a game, but surely if you’re reading this you care enough about it to check the forums, and ironically you might even be on here to look for upcoming fixes to these issues.

    Let’s do something about that!
Stop buying crowns, cancel your subs!

I am getting the vibes I had towards the last year of Landmark. The devs stopped streaming on twitch as much, the weekly updates went to two weeks, then a month. The communication as a whole slowed down to a crawl, only forum moderation seemed to be the same. They kept their cash store though, in fact we got some good sales towards the end (in hind sight I should have known what this meant).

I can't say this is the same case with ESO but the internal feelings are the same.

This describes what I was thinking. I am rather afraid to spent any money here because in theory they could just shut it down without refunding anything. I remember when I made the mistake to spent money at a game that was called Battlefield Heroes. EA was doing big sales in the games shop even after announcing that the game will be shut down.

That's why I will never ever touch any game with the EA logo no matter how good it is.

I really do hope that won't happen to Eso.

This has been happening in BFV for the past 6 months. The devs have already said development has stopped for BFV but man they sure have some stellar deals in the cash shop. My GF and I were playing BFV and when we saw that happen, we bolted. We both spent close to 1000 dollars in landmark towards the end and not only did we not get years to enjoy those digital goods, but we have nothing to show for it now but screenshots, "memories".

I can't say the same is happening here and I sure hope its not, but that does not change the nagging feeling inside of "hmm...I have been here before".

The thing is that there isn't even an attempt to apologise to the player base or why it went this way. No statement, nothing. Just silence.

I hope the next elder scrolls is a classic single player game again. So modders can fix annoying bugs and I don't have to deal with this cash shops anymore.

There are so many things I would like to get but I don't want to waste my money for some pixels. Also I don't have the time to grind millions of gold to get scammed by a crown seller.

As a pure healing/support templar this game became unplayable for me in Cyro, as a result I unsubscribed and haven't been back since the patch.
And then I did the unthinkable....
I renewed my WoW subscription after 6ish years and bought the Shadowlands expansion.
I haven't crashed once and I can heal my alliance.

It is not just the game that was broken, but also their accounting system, their crown store and more.
For example, ESO e-mailed me an invoice for an item I bought back in 2016!

    The bugs are everywhere.

ZOS could use an honest postmortem to identify all the things that went wrong with the Markath update.
