Nobody should care, it's not a big deal. I don't get bent when I go to loot a chest and there's nothing but trash in it.

But what I've come to realize is that it's just selfish people doing selfish things.
They believe that their time is more valuable than yours. Period. It doesn't matter about the respawn time. It doesn't matter that the could take the item and destroy it. They just don't care.
These are most likely the same people who queue as fake tanks because "normal doesn't even need a tank".
It used to bug me more than it does now. Now, I just grab whatever garbage is left, and move on. There is no point in trying to convince people that what they are doing is wrong, since they simply couldn't care less.

Unless of course you have one of those lovely friendly members of the ESO community who see someone next to a chest & not actively interacting with it & decide to take whatever is in the chest regardless of what the player next to the chest is doing or intends upon doing

Maybe not forever. But I would assume that as long as the unlooted chest is there, no new chest can spawn at that location.

The loot is not yours until it is in your pocket. And yes, I have been fighting mobs next to a chest when someone else came along to grabbed the chest. It's not the last chest in game.

Like seriously, nothing really good comes out of those u cannot find in a trader.
It would be annoying if u had to pick the lock agan!

Considering it doesn't affect anything...why do YOU care? The chest respawns the same whether its emptied or not. Look at it this way...if they leave something in there...just loot it and sell it...free gold, faster to loot an opened chest anyway. What you are really complaining about here is that you feel let down because someone else got to the chest first and left the visual behind but took the gold and left a cp110 axe of flame or something. If they dont have inventory space to take the item, they certainly dont have the inventory space to destroy something in their inventory just to take the junk in the chest and destroy it for you. I know for a fact that opened chests de-spawn within 10 minutes at the very most...I see this in dungeons all the time, open a chest and if your teammates dont get to it relatively quick its gone.
Here is the fact...people are going to continue to do this. I am going to continue to do this from time to time myself if my inventory is full...and it will continue to not matter because the chest will be gone within 10 minutes, either de-spawned or re-spawned. I am sorry that this will make you feel dissapointed, but that is not my intention. I do make every effort to keep my inventory relatively under control, but until we get unlimited inventory space it is what it is.

This can apply to either side of the discussion.

Not really. The OP said they found the chest with items, aka loot, aka plunder in it and they did not say if they sold it to their merch or broke it down for mats. Instead they just complained about a non-issue because it was still a chest with treasure.

So why doesn't the person who left the trash do the same? Leaving it is the in game equivalent of littering.

You can't expect that they know what you intend to do
If you want to blame something for it, then blame the storage system, that is designed to produce scarcity so you can't pickup every crap you find. It's the same with partially farmed mats and furniture, but no-one complains about that?
I don't agree at all. Everyone knows that exactly no one likes to come up to a chest just to find it half-emptied with only junk remaining. If you still choose to leave stuff in the chest, that says a lot about you as a person.

Sounds like you may be one of those people who leave items in treasure chests then.
If so, is there anything I can say to convince you to stop? It's really quite selfish.

Why do you feel it is selfish? The next person gets items if they want them that they would not have otherwise received.

Because a player hopes to be getting particular items from a chest be it gold or something else or maybe is farming a set & takes the time to stop at a particular chest - if it's already opened & only has say glyph or trait material & somebody has done it multiple times in the zone/area, then the time adds up.
So it's selfish because the player leaving stuff behind doesn't care if it is wasting or inconveniencing the time of another player only that they get what they want.
