There are also many words for people who make a big stink over absolute non-issues like the one in this thread. But alas, these words equally violate the community guidelines.

Or you can put a modicum of effort. A crumb of effort. A tiny speck of effort, into being constructive and positive on the forums. Its like you want them to close the thread.

    I guess it’s a non issue when it’s someone else’s time you’re wasting.

Nobody should care, it's not a big deal. I don't get bent when I go to loot a chest and there's nothing but trash in it.

Sounds like you may be one of those people who leave items in treasure chests then.

If so, is there anything I can say to convince you to stop? It's really quite selfish.

I am and no there's not. How exactly is it selfish? If I would've looted the whole thing you still wouldn't have gotten anything.

Then there would be no treasure chest when I got there, and that would be fine.

Instead, there is one, and it's got a 0% chance of anything decent in it.

Blame ZoS for putting trash items in there then? What do I want with a green quality Rubidite Maul of Flame?

I've pulled a Briarheart 2h from a previously opened chest before. One man's trash is another man's treasure and all that..

Why would I blame ZoS for your poor behaviour? At least we both agree that you're leaving trash.

Of course. If it was an item worth taking then why would I leave it?

There's a word for someone who leaves trash for others to pick up. Litterbug.
There are other words too, but they violate the community guidelines.

Wouldn't ZoS be the litterbug? I simply left the trash where it was, it was ZoS that put it there in the first place.

If it respawns 10 minutes after it is first opened whether or not it was emptied or not then I'm okay with people doing it. The same with nodes. I know it's due to inventory management. I know I've left treasure maps because I couldn't pick them up. I usually laugh when I see a half looted chest

Because you admittedly do not care at all about your actions that affect other players. THAT is the very definition of Selfish.

You waste people's time. You waste their inventory space. You dash their hopes.

But... he saved his own inventory space. Quit being selfish in thinking the other players should always be thinking about you. See how that works? Can this thread be locked already?

Which is the exact same chance you would have had if there were no chest at all. Stop QQing about this already, it's not going to change the minds of anyone. Either you see half looted chests as a problem or you don't. Move on. Most people in this thread have wasted more time complaining about half looted chests in this thread than they would have by finding a few dozen of them in game.... yet your time is "precious", and people partially looting chests is somehow being some disservice to you.

People need to remember that if the chest was completely emptied it wouldn't be there anyway and if is left half empty it will respawn normally back to a full chest after the same amount of time so there really isn't anything to complain about.

It boils down to, people saw a chest and got their hopes up only to have those hopes fall when the chest is empty. And now they feel bad. In this day, feelings (no matter how fleeting) are given far too much importance over facts.

And that’s been reiterated multiple times in this very thread. Some people want to stay willfully ignorant 🤷‍♀️

Only thing i leave in chests are maps but this complaint is so petty. If I'm playing with someone and they run to a chest and there is only a lockpick in it our response is usually one of laughter or a fake disgruntled reaction but we are never actually upset over it. In the past before I was aware of respawn mechanics I may have been more upset but not anymore.

When I find them Its always been people farming chests that leave them with junk. Inventory management? Nah, you just don't want to have to eventually have to get rid of all that junk. The chest farmers have rotations, and leaving stuff in chests let them get to the next chest faster, and makes it so others will be drawn to the trash chest and not rush to the other, regular chests on the farming route.

I don't have a horse in this race, but I've always had a chuckle when they missed a CP 160 Mother's Sorrow green inferno staff. While it wasn't a BiS trait, I still made a killing. :D

    Greetings all,

Seeing as this thread has derailed into Baiting, we've gone ahead and closed it down. Please remember to keep the Forum's Community Rules in mind when posting or replying, and to keep conversation civil and constructive.
Trolling or Baiting: The act of trolling is defined as something that is created for the intent to provoke conflict, shock others, or to elicit a strong negative or emotional reaction. It’s okay and very normal to disagree with others, and even to debate, but provoking conflict, baiting, inciting, mocking, etc. is never acceptable in the official The Elder Scrolls Online community. If you do not have something constructive or meaningful to add to a discussion, we strongly recommend you refrain from posting in that thread, and find another discussion to participate in instead. It is also not constructive or helpful to publicly call out others and accuse them of trolling, or call them a troll—please refrain from doing so. If you genuinely believe someone is trolling, please report the post or thread to the ESO Team, and leave it at that.
