Naemon is younger. A quote from The Improved Emperor's Guide to Tamriel:FlopsyPrince wrote: »I would say that the fact he went wacko means he should not have been the AD king after all. As the presumed (and now former) heir, Naemon had not anticipated his older sister's return.

Art imitating life.

Ayrenn in particular comes across as a reasonably intelligent and somewhat reluctant leader who means well and is not blindly following tradition. The sad fact that she will be unable to root out the racists among the Thalmor and lose to isolationists and Altmer supremacists in the long run does not make her effort less commendable.
(And I'm not saying that just because she is good looking. That would be awfully shallow of me.)

Basically, Tamriel is still the dark ages. Shame the Dwemer blasted off into space instead of helping fix things.
Cowards.
Yes, you can understand his motives and why he fell in with the veiled heritance, guess he lent a lot into their politic in the first place too, so an nasty piece of work.VaranisArano wrote: »FlopsyPrince wrote: »I would say that the fact he went wacko means he should not have been the AD king after all. I give Naemon a small pass, given that he's even younger than Ayrenn, stepped up to fill her shoes when his father died, underwent the proper training of an heir, and was preparing for his coronation...only to have it yanked away from him when she returned and grudgingly support her only to find out that his wife is leading a rebellion, his wife tried to kill his sister, his sister did kill his wife, and then Ayrenn sends him off to make nice to the Wood elves and gives him the task of proving once and for all that Ayrenn is the better ruler than he will ever be...
Yeah, Naemon tried to overthrow his sister and in the doing proved why he would be a worse ruler after all. But as a tragic figure, I can certainly understand why he did it.

Now the kind of Western Skyrim is a paranoid fool. I almost want to let his area burn and/or put an arrow in the back of his head, but the quest line doesn't allow that.
Generic is the one who irritated me the most. How many of his people end up dead, tortured and dead, turned into vampires, and had their homes destroyed be wise King Emeric can't make a decision?
He takes the first random stranger wandering by, sends them out to fix things and wade through rivers of blood to finally pick who will be his subordinate ruler. He is so pointless that when he finally does make a statement, he gets his entire royal guard kill and himself kidnapped. He makes such a great impression on the Guardian that he isn't allowed to stay in the afterlife. I was so hoping to leave him there so his sister could be in charge.

and he is an awful AWFUL husband to boot (his spinelessness rears its ugly head there as well). I stayed around listening to him talking to his queen after finishing the story and just... UGH. UGH.
