The only thing that holds the combat system back in ESO is performance and zos moving more checks to the server side. If ESO had good performance, no other MMO has better combat system in my opinion.

I agree as well but ZoS made it part of the game it is going no where. I learned it and adapted to it. At this point i'm like meh about it. If system worked the way they dreamed we wouldn't need to do it. Since this game engine issue. Well it is here to stay unless they force animations to finish before next spell is que'd which would make game horrid and clunky.

Combat would feel awful with block, dodge, and weapon swap animation canceling.
Think of how frustrating it would to be stuck in an animation and not be able to perform those actions until it ended. People need to actually think about what an outright removal of animation canceling would do to the game before calling for it to be taken away.

this is the classic misdirection. Nobody and i mean nobody wants or has asked for defensive animation cancelling to be removed. People have only ever asked for animation cancelling for the purpose to exaggerate dps to be removed for many reasons including:
1) poor overall performance especially when alot of people are doing it
2) ugly and glitchy
3) empowers automators
4) makes the game too easy for some and too hard for others.
5) goes directly against the very core spirit of the "resources determine everything" combat system since resources do not determine everything. Light attacking is free and very significant.
6) not standardized for internet connection so if you have 70 ping and i have 150 you have a massive advantage.
no way zos cant know all this.

This works both ways. I could say people should stop [snip] about performance. This combat system has limited performance because of the way it works and doesnt work.
