This means no new class more or less.

As with every class release they give another character slot.

It would make sense that "no new char slot" literally means no new class, as why would they just randomly add char slots if there wasn't a....new class like in the past?

Most likely this... but we may never know. They might be like "No new character slot, but here is a class change token !"...
...Or maybe we will have new playable race ? idk... It is an TES game, but is also an mmo... :p

hopefully no new class. ZOS can't even properly balance the ones we currently have, so rather not have another.

We'll know next year when there isn't a new class.

They also already said their system literally cannot handle a class change token. A new playable race is more likely than a new class tbh.

I hope so there will be no new class for some time. Now we need some more love for already existed classes and some rebalance. Maybe even new skills (one new skill for every class skill line)? I really want to see also new combat skill line for everyone :)

That means "no slot if no class", not "no class if no slot", but I get the reasoning. I think ZOS absolutely can add new class and be like "no idea where you would get a slot for a new character, idk, delete someone, it's yours headache now"

I'd prefer them to finally update base game classes, and try to create some semblance of balance, over getting a new class.
Would be nice if every class had multiple skill choices for different scenarios, rather than having to use the same few skills, Beacuse the rest are steaming hot garbage.

It does not mean that literally. Literally, it means that they are not going to add a new character slot. I also think that it was in the context of upcoming content, 2020 and 2021, not for the rest of the game.

They don't have to add a new character slot to add a class. They have been, and people assume that will always be the case, but it does not have to be. If they want to add a class, without adding a slot, they can.

For example, they could add a new class and a slot token in 2022... or a new class and slot on 2022.

It does, idk how long u play but it looks like not too long. Warden and necro each of them gave 3 new slots also they cant force people to delete old chars to enjoy new features. Big new features like new class are only added with chapters (2018, 2020) so for sure we will not see new classes in 2021 maybe 2022

Any source? Anyway to me it sounds like they are just dropping the ball.

I mean i expect nothing else at this point.

At least i hope they can do some serious and interesting rebalancing of the classes.

For example, i remember someone making a suggestion about new class passives.

Nb would get 10 % crit damage class buff.

Sorc would get minor prophecy and savagery.

Dk would get minor brut and sorcery

Templar would give cost reduction class buff

Warden, a flat amount of regen, like 300 or so.

And necro, ulti generation, class passives.

I think it would be very nice. These passives are more encompassing, and are useful even if you are solo no matter if you are playing stam or mag, right now, if you are playing mag blade, you do not benefit from your class passive for example,

You are right, I have only been here for a week or so.

"Past performance is no guarantee of future results." If they want to add a new class, but they don't want to increase the database size for stored characters, they can certainly decide to add a new class without adding character slots. This might not be their first choice, but if they want that class released bad enough, they will do it.

Oh... I understand marketing. If you want to talk marketing, new class trumps character slots every day of the week.

You have to remember that, last we heard, the majority of players in the game have not used up all of the free character slots. Offering a character slot token to those who have used all the free ones, but do not have the full 18 characters, is completely within reason. Those who have the full 18 characters are probably far into the minority.

Like I said above, they might prefer to bundle character slots with a new class, but if push comes to shove, and they want that new character class out there, they will do it, even if it means not having additional character slots.

That is probably why they are not looking at one for 2020 and 2021. They have combat balancing and performance work going on and a new class is going to do nothing but make that harder. As soon as they can release a new class, my guess is that they will. They probably already know what it is, and have designed it to the point where it is ready to be worked on.

Normally I'd agree, but ZOS has shown 3 major instances where they made questionably poor decisions going against what we would come to expect of them. Not providing a character slot for a new class release is par for the course.
    1. All Zone DLC's provided extra content beyond just story quests and zone related activities.
      • Osinirum 2015 included Maelstrom Arena for ability altering weapons
      • Thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood 2016 included new skill lines with passives.
      • Clockwork City for 2017 and Murkmire for 2018 included new end game group dungeons, providing ability altering weapons like Osinirum.
      • Dragonhold for 2019 did not provide anything additional like the previous zone DLCs, most of us expected the final 5th ability altering weapon to be released alongside a new arena since the past 2 years showed it was in the cards, possibly a 2 person setup to provide something new as many requested, since Trial, Solo and 4 man setups had been covered already. ZOS never agreed to a zone dlc including additional content like this, so they weren't held liable and free to complete the DLC without it.
    2. ZOS originally publically stated ALL dlc would be included in the ESO plus subscription. Their model quickly changed in 2016 when they most likely realized players were stock piling crowns and purchasing DLC's upon release, lowering revenue while also providing no big incentive to purchase ESO plus every month to support the developement of the game. DLCs being free also made marketing hard, they adopted the "Expansion" model which allowed them to re-release the game every year as if it was a new product. This converted 1/4 DLC's we got per year into a "Chapter" and since a chapter was not conisdered a "DLC" it was not included with ESO plus, voiding their obligation to provide it for free.
    3. The debacle recently with introducing Perfected weapons to Maelstrom Arena while not updating the existing VET obtained weapons from the VET content. Despite players earning these weapons in vet and ZOS providing a history of updating existing weapons to match new values, they felt it was fine to treat the Perfected versions as "new items" that you'd have to farm again, even more of a blow to their playerbase because the older version of these weapons had already included stat bonusess like the new perfected versions. Again, they did not put anything in writing, they can do whatever they want with the gear we've obtained. It's a matter of subjective opinion.
