I get the frustration but I suggest not coming to forums in the future complaining that something in-game doesn't work if you're gonna get your hackles up when they're taking their time to apply fixes.
The thing is, most other games can get this done in a quarter of the time it takes ESO/Zenimax, if even.
But this isn't other games. Regarding comparison to other games, I would submit that WOW is a good basis. But WOW actually goes down weekly. Most often for 4-8 hours with common extensions to 12+ hours.
Really sorry but this isn't correct. I play WoW as well, on an EU server, and I've been playing since the game launched.
For at least the last two expansions, the vast majority of 'maintenence' is simply a weekly resetting of the servers, which takes 30-45 mins at most. I know this because I am a night owl, I'm often playing during the shut down. I make a cup of coffee, have a brief surf of the web and and the servers are back up again. If there is an event or a patch it can take a bit longer, but these are few and far between.
That's interesting as I've played since launch as well. Though I will admit I haven't touched this latest expansion yet.
In NA, (Area 52, to be specific), I often wake up between 6 & 8 am to find that maintenance which began around 3am my time is still in effect. QUITE often, it gets extended until 11am or 12pm my time.
Your experience may differ. But mine is not "wrong". It's my experience and I stand by it as reality is my subject.0 -
Skauron✭✭✭I made full use of todays 'maintenance downtime'. Been playing Witcher 3 all day today, I bought ESO and Witcher 3 on the same week, and today gave me plenty of time to pick it up and give it a good run. So yeah i've had no problem with the wait, but i can totally get the frustration for many waiting for the servers to come back online for ESO.
I guess with a huge database of items, objects and stats etc, it can't be easy , especially if you have to start things in a certain order, then discover something isn't launching and have to down the other services to fix something that is preventing the 5th item from launching. who knows, but I doubt very much you could call it 'simple maintenance'Champion level chars: Nord Warden (Tank):50 Khajiit Nightblade (stam dual blade):50 High Elf Necromancer (magicka dps):50 Dragonknight (Tank):50 Sorcerer Vampire: 50

Also 11hours(or more) of maintenance and not even a random copy pasta post to apologise for the wait?
Also many EU players lose a whole day of play/eso + time, any plans for recompensation?
