But... Is it even legal to do so????
@ OP and all who are frustrated right now:
I get the frustration but I suggest not coming to forums in the future complaining that something in-game doesn't work if you're gonna get your hackles up when they're taking their time to apply fixes.
The thing is, most other games can get this done in a quarter of the time it takes ESO/Zenimax, if even.
But this isn't other games. Regarding comparison to other games, I would submit that WOW is a good basis. But WOW actually goes down weekly. Most often for 4-8 hours with common extensions to 12+ hours. Two major differences though: they have a business model that pays for high end developers & equipment with reliable income because they never catered to a "free-to-play" audience. Second is that they start their maintenance during their absolute slowest time window(s) and VERY RARELY do they take anything down outside of that schedule.
And to assume we know anything about ZOS infrastructure, code tiers, and SDLC is an error. I've been a developer in large corp world for about 20 years now. You might be surprised at how many things can go wrong during a rollout. Especially the "simplest" rollouts - those are the ones that get ya, really. As well, ZOS made no agreement with users to explain any of it to anyone, really. Sucks to be us, but it is what it is.
My perspective is this: perhaps if we all just provided a little more support and a tad fewer complaints, we might get a little farther by boosting ZOS dev morale instead of constantly filling their forums with negativity.
I agree there is much that could be done to improve the maintenance process. But here again, I do not know what kind of budget they are working with, how hard they work their dev & QA/QC teams. It may just be that the crown store doesn't pay for these things we all wish they would do. Yet there are MANY people who attend this forum hourly who pay little or no money to play this game and wonder why ZOS maybe cannot afford the level of developers and equipment required to make the changes the game needs. I subscribe on the monthly because that's the most sustainable business model for these kind of games and I genuinely hope every day for fixes (I'm sure we agree on the same ones so I, too, will refrain from resurrecting that horse). Point is: you just can't have a low or medium budget AND retain high end talent in dev or IT.
Please understand: I GET IT. I do. As a father and a developer, there's nothing more frustrating than *FINALLY* finding a day off work and responsibilities where I'm looking forward to playing and I cannot because my game is down. But perhaps we could all be a little more patient, a little more supportive, and maybe... maybe we can find our way to a better game by using more honey as bait than vinegar.

Are you seriously comparing WOW to an indie game?
Come on guys, I get you but at this point it's just rude. They even have all hands on deck right now and that's why there's no communication! Be understanding >:(
For real though, we're going through a pandemic and it's understandeable if things go south and errors pop up, now more than ever.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Will PCEU get an extra day of the event, to make up for the tickets we cannot get today? Will we be given the final day's login reward, as we will be a day out of sync now, as we cannot log in?
And this is way all my money playing MMOs goes toGuild War 2, they screw up like a roll back, we get 12€ worth of gems as a sorry, just for example. This company does not deserve my money due to their utter lack of customer friendlieness, I mean how hard would it be to push back the daily login rewards just to name a tiny but very annoying example, oh and of course I still cannot LOG IN stuck at the loading screen for over 10 mins now so F U Zos bye........
I don't know who this will help, perhaps no one, but as a matter of perspective, at least it's not LOTRO. That's not saying 11 hours of maintenance is an easy pill to swallow, but until it stretches into 11+ DAYS, it could be a whooooole lot worse.
