You want a reward for them maintaining their servers?

Think of it like this then. The reward is playable servers!

If you want they can stop server maintenance all together. But I expect then you'll make a thread about how poor the servers are.

So let's not make things worse shall we.

Go outside, get some fresh air, spend time with your loved ones, read a book or learn a new skill. You don't need to be rewarded for doing nothing at all.

You probably do not understand what we are talking about. Read the entire branch. And thank you for the advice I didn't ask for. ;)
Either that or you're fine with it. Said 3 hours and passed 12. We'll wait for something else and it won't even hurt. And Yes. If you don't know it's not the first time. ;)

You're talking about long maintenance windows, it taking longer than expected, and your upset over the fact that you lose game time. You want a reward, but it's just a simpler way of asking for compensation.

Even though their terms and agreement, which you agree to, says that they don't have to do anything at all.

And yes, I'm fine with it. Why ? Because I'm studying something new, or spending time with my wife and family.

As much as I love this game and am addicted to it, and can get grumpy if I'm unable to log in and play whenever I feel like it, it seems like it would be a bad idea for ZOS to hand out some kind of reward for down times.

Sure, it sounds like it would be a good idea as far as building positive public relations. But people are people, and people are why we can't have nice things.

You can bet that if ZOS were to give everyone a reward after this-- say, a free Crown crate-- then someone would likely bring up the other times when there was an unexpected down time, or when they couldn't log in even though other people could, etc., and ask why ZOS doesn't give rewards for those times, too.

Or, if ZOS were to give a reward to some person who claims that they couldn't log in, other people would likely demand one, too, even if they had been able to log in.

It would just open up a can of worms of nightmarish proportions.

Let me tell you something else, then. I want them to do what they're supposed to do and treat the community with understanding. However you will only need to read thread ;)

I'm not disagreeing with this. They should be open with their communication and let us know what is going on.

I don't get what you mean by "treat the community with understanding" but I think it works both ways, no?

Too many people are confusing the lack of guarantee of access to services at all times with lack of refunds for lost time on a purchased product. A guarantee of service means you are entitled to additional refunds if services go down, but there's a standard seller/purchaser agreement, that the seller is required to deliver a product he sold, which can't be changed by the ToS. It's strictly against the law in most countries, as such systems used to be exploited for tax evasion (you can't charge for a service you never delivered).

In simple terms imagine a company that has to pay tax on its profits that just buys "whatever" from a company abroad, receives nothing in return, transfers the money and pays no tax. That's why charging for undelivered services and goods is strictly prohibited.

The least ZoS should do is increase the time of ESO+ of all players affected by unscheduled maintenance periods (and this one, just as the previous one, was clearly unscheduled). I know it's pocket change, but that's what companies do when they screw over their clients. For PR reasons.

    Best regards,

Well, In my humble opinion, the only thing they should do is unlock one of the daily login rewards, so folks can still get them all.
That would be a nice gesture, since it made impossible for some to get them all.
Any other thing is unecessary. It's a maintenance. Those happens. It didn't work right. Also happens.

Just funny that despite the long maintenance my stuff sold for 140k gold anyway on this day - did people get into a buying frenzy to compensate the wait or what?-

Well and as far as the "reward" goes - I would be happy if they just told us what was the actual issue and why it took so long. When a longer unscheduled maintenance of a couple of hours was required in EVE once, we got 2 longer articles - one for the less technically inclined in layman's terms and one with in depth information what was going wrong and how they approached to fix it for those with experience in the field -- well we got a compensation as well, but more important is to communicate with the community imo.

Do you get a reward when there is road construction for weeks?

No. I go use another road or in this case another game.

but what if there is no other road to take and your car will not start because everything is being updated 🙀

    That is some scary stuff

The only reward I'd like to see is a pledge from ZOS for more transparency, better more frequent and more visible communication.

In my dreams I'd love to say no repeat disasters around maintenance but I'm too much of a realist to ask for that ;)

Surely a pvp event is all the reward you need... IF YOU PVP that is. which i don't.. but to shoe-horn this event in, they stopped people who enjoy pve only from playing.. all day.

Well i hope this patch was worth the hassle.

What patch, Gina said it is just a server reboot - and something went wrong whilst trying to start them up properly. Maybe their hamsters requested more food or something and the negotiations to settle the issue took that long, who knows?

From what I've read this month in these forums, people complain maintenance take too long, they complain they're unscheduled, they complain they don't do enough, they complain there should be more...really? Can the complainers make up their minds? I don't care how long they are or how many they have just as long as they're working to correct the problems.

Yes, would be a nice gesture-- but it would still open up a can of worms.

For one thing, as I understand it the servers were down for about half of a day, which still left about half of a day for people to claim the daily login reward for that day.

For another thing, suppose that the servers had been down for a day or longer. That might warrant unlocking the missed login reward(s). But what about the missed day(s) of crafting writs, other daily jobs, potential guild trader sales, etc.? Should there be some kind of recompense for those as well?

That can has too many worms in it.

If people on PC-EU haven't got any compensation for all the downtime so far in the last few years it's never going to happen.

I'd just like better communication about what's happening and what's being done about it.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

They do give us freebies from time to time, like the July Dwemer spider pet, but they’re never going to link them to downtime. That would set a silly precedent - every time there was any outage or extended maintenance, people be like, “where’s my compensatory gift!”
