Crown Soul Gem Stacks?

I have 2 stacks of Crown Soul Gems. One has 9 items and one has 17. Why can't these stack?

I tried splitting the 9 one up to stacks of 1, but they just remade the 9 stack when I asked to Stack All Items.

Did you get them at different levels. While they work at all levels, they have an internal label that prevents them from stacking. The potions/poisons have a similar internal label and can't be stacked when acquired at different levels.

The same thing can also happen, when one stack of these items is character bound and the other is not. Don't know if Crown Soul Gems can be character bound, though because that is mostly just the case with items you get for leveling up. I don't really recall, if at some point you get Crown Soul Gems at a level up, but if so, that could be the reason, too.

Guessing it has to do with some being character bound, which to be candid, is totally stupid. There is no reason for any item to ever be character bound in this game.

It's probably because some are from crown creates and are redeemable for gems while the others are typical crown soul gems. Those don't stack either. I think all crown gems are character bound, if I remember right.

Except for the very large number of bound consumables that are level-up rewards for new characters.

Those are bound for a reason ... especially the research scrolls.

These can be put in my bank, so they are not character bound. No difference in the description I can see, unlike potions.

I've encountered a similar issue with Crown consumables (potions, exp scrolls, poisons, etc.). Not really sure what the malfunction is, but I generally don't use them, so I don't worry about it too much. If it annoys me that much, I can always destroy the odd stack.

I don't know about getting them at different levels, but I know that certain Crown items which came from collector's editions of DLCs or chapters will not stack with identical Crown items which came from other sources.

Hmm. Do the ones from login rewards stack with store-bought?

Try crushing one of the stacks for crowns gems.

That'll at least get rid of the non-stacking issue (and give you a bag space back)

No, I don't think so. It's gotten hard to tell them all apart, so it's hard to say which non-stacking partial stacks came from where.

Been there, done that. Not all items that say "Crown" at the beginning of their names can be converted to Crowns.

I have this same issue. I have two stacks of crown soul gems and there is no rhyme or reason for it. Neither stack can be converted to crown gems, and they are not character bound. It's irritating, for sure.

IMO, those are stupid too. Most of my recent toons have a handful of these in their bags, they just sit there. There might be some potential to exploit and power level research, but they do have a cool down dont they? And if someone wants to create a new toon each day and delete it to level their crafting faster, I just don't care at this point. So much of the other level up crap is just the same issue OP is describing. It's the same trash we get from daily logins (potions, food, poisons, etc), but it wont stack.

Even something potentially useful like 25 spell power pots is mostly junk. I might use it on a dummy for practice, but that is it. I wont slot them in combat because I dont really want to runout mid fight. Especially in PVP, where every quickslot is at a premium and we might be stuck in combat for a week and a half. Typically, they just sit there until occasionally I get around to marking as junk, which is what they are.

I've noticed the same problem with a potion.

On a related note, why does quickslot usage always take from the full stack? Have to keep re-stacking to make the partial one go down.

Yeah, I have a set of two in the bank. One's got about 10, the other has like 17 or so. Neither from crates, and neither are character bound.

I think they don't stack since they have different IDs, but I don't know which came from where. I'm pretty sure one is a daily reward thing, the other might be from some random Crown Store bundle or something.

It'd be nice if they had the same ID and could stack...

I don't know why, but I always used to try to save any "Crown" items, as if they were something rare and valuable that I wanted to hang onto. This was especially true of any items that could be converted into Crown Gems.

But once I started running out of space and realized I'd probably never use some of them, I converted anything that could be converted into Crown Gems. Then I changed my settings to give priority to Crown Soul Gems, and withdrew all of my Crown Soul Gems from my bank account and storage chests.

I still have stacks and stacks of Crown potions and meals, which I intend to start using "one of these days."

I can relate to that.

I also agree with the prior reply about leveling bonus items. Who cares if someone gets a few extras. Only bots would benefit I suppose and bots are going to bot either way since they don't do anything about them. (Find X players on top of each other and at least investigate, you almost certainly have a bot farming stuff or to level, for example.
