New Background for Character Select Screen

I'm really not a fan of having my character background match the new content. The background is pretty enough but it makes no sense to show my character in that setting because it doesn't fit them nor do they belong there. I'd really like a racial background. I had one character that had a suitable background and that was my Altmer and now its gone. Never had a good one for my Dunmer because its Bleak Rock. I saw a thread that suggested the primary residence as background. Even that would be preferable. What about giving Plus players the option to choose a character select background? I mean, give it to everyone but I know how much money is the priority for everything that happens. I don't like logging in to choose a character to play and feeling disgusted at the background.

✭IMHO, it would make more sense to just have the background be from the zone your in (Skyrim, Craglorn, Summerset, etc). That, or maybe have it be from the main zone for your faction. It's definitely not a high priority for anyone at ZoS, I can guarantee that with much bigger things to tackle. Right now, the game is just too far behind with so many issues and bugs that need attention first. I do agree it would be a really nice finishing touch if they ever get to the point of being able to pay more attention to QOL in ESO.🌎 PC/NA

✭✭✭✭✭Eh.... how much time do you even spend on character select screen? I don't spend a total of five minutes there, even switching between 51 character. It's certainly not a huge issue.
I'd rather have all hair colors available to every race personally.4 -

✭I'd certainly like a choice but I like the new one a lot especially how animated it is. I think it's a great one for most characters because it's a little dark for darker characters, yet very natural and outdoor so works well for lighter characters and nature types. It's certainly better than a necromancer stood somewhere floral and pretty unless that's the kind of necro they are.2 -

✭✭✭✭✭I like that it's the new content. Makes me feel like my characters are adventuring to a new place. And as long as they update every year to match the new zone, I say cool.
It might be neat to have an area set for each zone you log out in, but I'm fine with this way too.-- @xaraan --

Welewa✭✭✭I do understand that its not a priority especially when there are bugs and issues. This chapter has certainly started rough. I've just always liked the idea of having a background that suits the character, that fits. This doesn't and I don't like the forced change.
And to touch on that added unrelated note, I'd like to have all hair colors for all races too. Black haired Altmer! We even have them as npcs!3 -

✭✭✭✭✭Backgrounds imho should be dynamic and related to the Zone your character is. You log-off in Aurdion or Aurdion sub-zone (delve, house etc.) - you have Aurdion
Background. You log-off in Shadowfen, you have Shadowfen background etc.4 -
Shaie✭✭✭I'd also like to have the background either match my character's origin OR where they last logged out. Perhaps in the future... I appreciate the change from a background showing the character's alliance though. As someone else mentioned, while Bleakrock may be appropriate for Nord characters, it doesn't really fit with Dunmer or Bosmer (or Altmer for that matter!).3 -

✭Meh. It looks too much like my back yard. Well, maybe not that dragon temple, or even the mountains in the background, but living in Sweden, I am more than familiar with looking at snowy pine forests. I could say I'm fed up with it, but that's not quite true - I still like the look of where I live. However, for me, the Skyrim background doesn't really evoke the sense of wonder that befits a fantasy game.
The immediate marketing reason to show off the Skyrim chapter at every turn will fade away over time, and then I would appreciate having a choice of returning to either of the old backgrounds. I quite liked the Auridon scene, the "floral and pretty" one.1 -

I want my beautiful Aldmeri Dominion background back or maybe let us decide which one we want? The Greymoor background is not beautiful to my eyes, it ruins my character.

Times where you spend minutes or longer in them, are getting more and more common these days.
In any case, I always feel welcomed back home when I come into the character screen. Now it feels Alien to me.Auri-El is my lord,

✭✭One of the nice things about DCUO is that you could choose the background for each character. The more DLC you had the more choices you got.
