ZeniMax reserves the right to offer new Services, change and/or discontinue certain Services at any time in its sole discretion."

Not to bash company or anything, just letting you know by purchasing and playing the game, you agreed to these terms and none compensation has to be given to players by zenimax, unless they choose to.

They let you know that they aren't liable for anything and your data is not guaranteed. Actually they don't guarantee anything.
I understand in a sense, however, I remember that in WoW even after many years someone managed to revive his account with his deleted chars, because Blizz had a practice of never really deleting any char for good unless it was low level. But even so, they kept your data in case you might come back after years.

Also, I remember that during expansion launches to WoW there were long wait times, but servers did not stay offline for hours like this, and this was 10 years ago when I was playing that (old tech, not like today).

All is understandable, but in the end I feel like, where is the chapter I paid for? It's like with a movie premiere... yeah, you can see it next day or after a week, but you had tickets. Some communication from them would be nice, it does not cost anything.

It has literally nothing to do with entitlement. It has everything to do with 6 plus years of constant negligence and lack of quality assurance for a product that people PAY for from a multi-billion dollar company.

"You want a working game or a broken game" says a lot ...you must be new to ESO? Give it a year or two and you will better understand the frustration of others on this topic.

Until then, please don't react in such a silly manner.

In all seriousness, it is embarrassing how they always screw up the little things that should be bread-and-butter. It's not some tough bit of code that's gone wrong, it's something that should have been in the test scripts as standard. In just about any business I know, if you screwed up like this (multiple times) you would be fired for gross incompetence. The lunatics are running the asylum.

Is it compensation-worthy? No, not really.

Is it a huge deal that live will be delayed by {some} hours? No, not really.

Have I got other suff to do? Yep.

The issue is that this is the thousandth example of a gaming company that has a brilliant game on their hands, but insufficient care and attention in how they handle the property and zero concern for the customer base. All I can say is thank god communication has improved so much: two years ago we'd all be wondering wtf is going on!

I keep seeing this pop up, and I've tried to ignore it, but I just have to ask: If you're truly this unhappy, why are you still here? If you check my post history, you're going to find a rather shocking detail: I was gone for a very long time. Why? Something made me unhappy. I didn't haunt the forums, I didn't grab every opportunity to troll ZoS, I left. I left to the point that I had uninstalled the game, and removed the bookmarks to the forums, which I had to reassign when I came back. I'm not even sure how long I'm planning to stick around, so unsure, in fact, that I didn't bother to purchase this expansion, despite being able to do so. I also didn't raise a big fuss about it in the threads dedicated to it, and yet, I see a lot of this. "I've been traumatically unhappy with this game for 6 years, and yet I'm still here". It doesn't say as much about ZoS as you'd like.

We ARE paying for uptime. Hyperbole, but would some of you change your tune if ESO was only up one hour per day every day? Where is the line?

I want it to work, properly and quickly. They’re having issues and the servers will be back up soon (-ish). But I am weary of the constant chronic problems in this game and the frequent, sometimes problematic patching, maintenance, oops, etc. downtime events. I’ve never seen this many chronic issues in my decades of gameplay. Nor have I seen a company do sooo many planned shutdown events either.

And if you didn’t pay for Greymoor you too get to suffer through these downtime impacts as well.

I have to say, I often see this argument, alongside the "go and have a walk" argument. It's sloppy, lazy, and condescending. I'm still here. The game is terrific. The community is awesome. But the doesn't mean there are not massive issues with the game and the developer. There are precious few places to communicate about those - this is the primary one.

I understand this exact same issue happened when they released Elsweyr last year. Who is in charge of testing these things before they are released?

They are called Q&A, and for the Zenimax team it is a waste of time, since after months and months running a bug, once it is fixed, 10 other new things go wrong.

As others have said, a major overlook and lack of QA allowing players that did not purchase Greymoor to enter the zone and play it for free. What's more impressive is the chapter was delayed an extra week and release still failed miserably. I wish I was, but I am not surprised that this is normal and expected for this game. For me, this will be the last purchase from this company for me. I loathe the day the account database is corrupted or a new bug introduced and all of our data is lost. With the track record of this game, it's not impossible at this point. I will still play but wont place financial trust in such negligence anymore.

Here was a snip from Skyrim zone chat before they took servers offline for a 2nd maintenance.

I've been playing since 2014 and i do not share your frustration. I would love to see you do better. But i highly doubt you could, since you know, being an armchair game developer and all that lol.

So how about you go to school for coding and programing, get hired by ZOS to work on this game, do better than they are, and MAYBE you'll actually have an opinion on game development that is actually worth something.

otherwise, idk, shut up and accept that coding is not perfect and never will. all it takes is one line of code to *** up any of the existing code. And even if they did test every update out for months or even years to ensure perfect working order. People like you would then just get pissed that it takes so long. So yes, it is about you feeling entitled to an entertainment product.

ZOS is damned if they or damned if they dont by people like you. So I can see why they kinda have to not care about these kinds of opinions.
