Six years of nothing but a downhill slide of worsening performance, expecting some new "Performance Improvement" initiative was not realistic since nothing has changed at ZOS. They're just here to milk the casual pve'ers and rp'ers who haven't had a new ES game in a decade through their cash shop. The sooner you come to terms with it and move on, the better off you'll be.

To answer the original question, the game has got better and better overall, reflected in its growing population, while performance in Cyrodiil hasn't improved and may indeed have got worse - although for every one player complaining it is unplayable there is another player complaining that his campaign is always locked.

I don't think it is a memory leak either. I tried everything to stop the horrifying performance. I haven't played with an addon since the update and I've rebooted everything and still crappy performance in PvP. When we had a memory leak it seemed like rebooting increased performance for a while.

I still have that. If I reboot every 30 mins my performance is noticeably better.

I completely agree... Though I hear the argument that it is catered for casual players only. This doesn't make any sense business wise. Corporations always aim to keep as many customers as well gain new ones. Otherwise your customer base could never grow if you were swapping new customers for old ones as they hit endgame.

I think they try to make it more accessible taking a lot of skill from the game. Not to mention things like proc damage sets, just for showing up and light attacking. They also will balance cost Vs income with all of their endeavours. So if they can fix an issue in a 2 weeks rather than 1 and save money that's what they tend to do....

Edit: I agree it is unacceptable though...

I like they have said: we have delayed Mondays patch because it might break combat more, but we think this is good to go for console👍
No need to wait until the patch works on pc. Let's just roll it out...

It still has to be done to speed up patch loads and lessen memory leaks, but if you want to complain about the game as it is now and never get the progressive fixes...okay lol
Not like I play on console anyway.

I'm talking about them rolling it out on other platforms despite not working on pc...
I'm not complaining about them delaying a patch that won't work. They are delaying the patch on pc because they have identified it doesn't work. Yet they are releasing a patch on consoles that has been tried, tested and proven to not work.

I am pointing out the hypocrisy in this...
    I don't play console either.

Have consoles had the big download patch? I feel like we’re talking about two different patches.
I also think that the patch delayed but originally for the 9th is not in fact the patch being out on console.
Reasoning includes: too soon. Pc is experimented on first.

That is my point, they shouldn't release the patch on consoles until they have it working on PC. So when they do drop a patch that fixes the current problems, then release it to console. Maybe I didn't make myself clear😂

Except that console may have other issues the PCs don’t have. So it has to be bit by bit, like giving 20 vaccinations at once you’re more likely to kill the recipient due to unforeseen complications.
So my point is, Monday’s patch isn’t the same one the consoles are getting. To progress and see how consoles respond they have to get the big patch, as well as to sort the glaring issues which means - big patch needed for consoles, needed / little Monday patch for PCs, not needed yet.

Nothing in MMOs is perfect and I don’t mean that to be an excuse as it is often used for awful game releases, but consoles need the big patch to start progressing, that’s not a question or they can’t get Greymoor on time.

LOL!!!!! progression for what?? PS4 had months of Blue screen issues... thing was so bad that next exp is not even avaible for sale there lol
And yet, even after Zos breakimg their game for 3 weeks on PC, without any fix planned, U want that patch to be implemented?? LOL LOL LOL LOL

Their first step of performance updates made the game unplayable for anyone doing group content or PvP of any kind, so I have to wonder what you consider enough evidence that ZOS won't be fixing their game.

Yeah but that's acting like it's only just now became unplayable; you're ignoring that prior to a lot of these patches PvP was just as bad with either massive desyncs, literal unplayable lag during high time making abilities take 2-4 seconds to cast at all, huge lag spikes making you rubber band back and forth worse than a Jimmy Neutron episode and whatever else happens. The games been broken for far longer than just this patch this is just the latest issue.

Or leave? The games six years old like you said; so move on or wait. If they do nothing at all and just leave it in the most playable state they can manage the game becomes more stagnant than Full House.

Boy do I wish; there are so many better games out there that actually are based around PvP and yet here a lot of people are acting like Cyrodiil is the center of ZOS's universe and they don't have any other end-game content available.

Let em finish their performance update plan and we will see where it goes; if things don't improve at the end of all their adjustments then yeah it's a good time to riot. But executing a plan in steps is better than doing it in one go so they aren't playing the game of "Which part of it went wrong?" Do it in pieces so you know which parts go wrong and you can fix the part before adding another.

I don’t know why you’d say that. If you like MMO pvp what would you suggest? A lot of good elements of this game are a continuation of DAoC and I like them. There really isn’t an alternative, WOW has always been a joke for pvp, what else is there?

If it wasn’t for performance the game would be decent.

Yeah WoW pvp is pretty terrible. It's like they don't even have tournaments that pay a crap ton of cash. Probably don't have tournaments for PvE either.

Yes, we just misunderstood what they meant when they said improve! they are improving the performance issues!
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

    Hi there,

The game is in intensive care, sorry to break the saddening news.

PS : If you watch some newish videos on youtube concerning 'should I play ESO in 2020' you tend to get quite positive remarks. Unfortunately these people seem to only do zone exploration (long at this point as we have had 6 years of additions), questing and zone dungeons. I don't believe they are actually settled in guilds and attacking 'harder' content or are avid PVP players.

If you read between the lines, ESO is going to attract newer players coming in. The great replacement has begun, I don't think we can deny it any more as our game producer won't cater for veteran player needs anymore (personal opinion/not bashing/not trolling).

I literally cannot list the amount of open world games I'd recommend for pure PvP over this one; mostly because I doubt the ESO forum mods would appreciate me basically advertising other games. There are several lists out there for this very reason and you can look them up yourself, but ESO hasn't been on many of those lists since on-release when it was focused on that aspect of the game and trying to make that its selling point which it hasn't done since everything after Morrowind.

This is really their last chance from a business perspective. There are several viable alternatives being released soon , which offer well written stories, and Teamplay. If this game is not cleaned up by then they will unfortunately lose tons of money, subscribers, and loyal fans.

I just bought the Ultimate Edition of Red Dead 2. It’s downloading now. I’m not saying I quit. But I’m gonna be a cowboy for a while.

I was in Cyro, and it was ok...as in I killed a bunch of folks. However, 1 fight sticks in my mind. I tried to Leap this dude and it didn’t go off after 4 tries. Killed him with something else.

Another fight, I was kiting through some trees, fighting and every other skill wasn’t going off. No matter what it was: light attack, whip, RAT whatever. Left Cyro. Thought about what I’d do next? PvE? Been doing a lot of that lately.
It’s just not fun. And no maintenance PcNA this week, so, more of the same? Nah, canceling Greymoor tomorrow. I’m not quitting necessarily but my interest wanes...

So you rather have them go live with a potentially worse issue that can lead to even more and larger problems... logic?
    Hi everyone,

As you may have noticed, we recently adjusted the maintenance banners to indicate there is no longer a PC incremental patch scheduled for Monday, March 9. While we were performing final checks for the build this afternoon, we noticed one of the fixes was causing some new issues affecting combat. We have made the decision to delay the incremental patch until we're able to fix this issue and ensure the patch is stable.

We’ll let you know when we have a new date scheduled for the patch.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/515533/pc-mac-maintenance-for-march-9-postponed#latest

I would hope that ZOS would be on top of their game. That they wouldn't create issues every time there was a major update. They do concede there are problems. Truly, I believe they are working on them even.

However, when I login and play, my completely min/maxed, tweaked to the last stat toon simply cannot do the same things it did before Update 25.

Block drops, at the wrong time. Light attack won't fire at times, so weaving is out. Leap, IF I can get it to fire off at all is slow. Skills in general are "lucky if it fires at all." And that's in lagless pve. Solo in a dungeon with 60 fps (60 hrz monitor) with 83 ping. In lagged out Cyro it's like fighting in goo.

It's just not fun. That's my point.

The biggest problem with this game isnt performance or the cash shop that vile freebs complain about because they believe someone should give them a game to play for free.

It's how out of touch the devs are.

This game has so much potential. A mage class that has nothing but some pet skills, dark magic and lightning.
You cant use any ice projectile skills without a cringey staff. Same with fire unless you choose the 2 classes that have fire skill trees in them. It's disgraceful and insult to the ES name. I cannot believe the ridiculous choices made by Zeni with regards to class skills and classes in general.

NB keeps getting screwed because a bunch of pissy trash babies dont like losing in PvP.

There have been 1000s of requests for a 1h skill line. 1000s of requests to fix the magick based class issues i mentioned above.

The non main classes are filled with skills no one wants or uses and you have to sacrifice skills because a bunch of non thinkers couldn't handle too many options and have destroyed MMOs all over the place with this limited skillbar garbage.

I'm not denying you or anyone is having issues with combat. Many (more than enough are) across multiple threads and forums are. Can't get everything right on the first try in certain things. Sometimes, a minor delay to maint. is more beneficial in the long run. Who knows, it may end up fixing the current combat issues after they work out what they discovered in the maint. it may not.

Ask yourself, you rather them push maint. through tomorrow, with them already confirming that it has even more combat issues attached to it to have that already added on top of your current frustrations?

As well, honestly, a side of me really wants to see them push the maint. through tomorrow as is, with the newly discovered combat issues and everything. Just to see the reactions from those who complained about the maint. being delayed and yelling "shame on ZoS for delaying, it should be released no matter what issues are attached."

What does being casual or not being casual and having/not having ESO+ have to do with poor performance and combat issues? The issues effect all players, no matter the silly moot titles others want to place on them(selves). Care to explain? Cause, not sure if your just using a recent poor edgy meme joke or not from Blizzard WoW forums.

Hit 1k cp around nov, picked up gtav on black friday, and haven’t really been in eso since aside from a daily login to feed the horse on alts. Now moonshining in RDR:O, and enjoying it.

Honestly I think it would be an amazing addition to eso if they implemented some type of business update similar to those games. Give players an alternate way to earn money, new quests, different type of grind to occupy time, etc. let me invest in different shops and different zones and make the world feel more alive.
