What happened to this game?

I took a year break from this game because of performance issues and I decided to come back this week to see the changes. Within 2 minutes of playing I can already tell this game is 10 times worse than when I left. Abilities take 3-5 times activation to work, lag is way worse than before, and it seems there are way less people in pvp. I just want to know what happened? Did zos finally just take the money and run?

Boy do I wish; there are so many better games out there that actually are based around PvP and yet here a lot of people are acting like Cyrodiil is the center of ZOS's universe and they don't have any other end-game content available.

Let em finish their performance update plan and we will see where it goes; if things don't improve at the end of all their adjustments then yeah it's a good time to riot. But executing a plan in steps is better than doing it in one go so they aren't playing the game of "Which part of it went wrong?" Do it in pieces so you know which parts go wrong and you can fix the part before adding another.

Their first step of performance updates made the game unplayable for anyone doing group content or PvP of any kind, so I have to wonder what you consider enough evidence that ZOS won't be fixing their game.

They are killing it. The unsatisfied can just go be somewhere else, according to a certain CD.

Why no one has tabbed his shoulder and notifies the good sir on the importance of the codependent relationship with his buyers, are a puzzle of epic proportions.

2020 will be the year of the performance. And if not, then 2021. U just need to keep crown store busy!

Yup. They somehow managed to make it even worse.

The game was very laggy last patch but at least it was playable sometimes. Now for me it feels laggy 100% of the time. Skills taking multiple presses before they work and then even have a delay, and ofc break free is even worse.

I just bought the Ultimate Edition of Red Dead 2. It’s downloading now. I’m not saying I quit. But I’m gonna be a cowboy for a while.

I was in Cyro, and it was ok...as in I killed a bunch of folks. However, 1 fight sticks in my mind. I tried to Leap this dude and it didn’t go off after 4 tries. Killed him with something else.

Another fight, I was kiting through some trees, fighting and every other skill wasn’t going off. No matter what it was: light attack, whip, RAT whatever. Left Cyro. Thought about what I’d do next? PvE? Been doing a lot of that lately.

It’s just not fun. And no maintenance PcNA this week, so, more of the same? Nah, canceling Greymoor tomorrow. I’m not quitting necessarily but my interest wanes...

So you rather have them go live with a potentially worse issue that can lead to even more and larger problems... logic?
    Hi everyone,

As you may have noticed, we recently adjusted the maintenance banners to indicate there is no longer a PC incremental patch scheduled for Monday, March 9. While we were performing final checks for the build this afternoon, we noticed one of the fixes was causing some new issues affecting combat. We have made the decision to delay the incremental patch until we're able to fix this issue and ensure the patch is stable.

We’ll let you know when we have a new date scheduled for the patch.

It still has to be done to speed up patch loads and lessen memory leaks, but if you want to complain about the game as it is now and never get the progressive fixes...okay lol
Not like I play on console anyway.

I'm not complaining about them delaying a patch that won't work. They are delaying the patch on pc because they have identified it doesn't work. Yet they are releasing a patch on consoles that has been tried, tested and proven to not work.

I am pointing out the hypocrisy in this...

Have consoles had the big download patch? I feel like we’re talking about two different patches.
I also think that the patch delayed but originally for the 9th is not in fact the patch being out on console.
Reasoning includes: too soon. Pc is experimented on first.

That is my point, they shouldn't release the patch on consoles until they have it working on PC. So when they do drop a patch that fixes the current problems, then release it to console. Maybe I didn't make myself clear😂

Except that console may have other issues the PCs don’t have. So it has to be bit by bit, like giving 20 vaccinations at once you’re more likely to kill the recipient due to unforeseen complications.
So my point is, Monday’s patch isn’t the same one the consoles are getting. To progress and see how consoles respond they have to get the big patch, as well as to sort the glaring issues which means - big patch needed for consoles, needed / little Monday patch for PCs, not needed yet.

Nothing in MMOs is perfect and I don’t mean that to be an excuse as it is often used for awful game releases, but consoles need the big patch to start progressing, that’s not a question or they can’t get Greymoor on time.

All of this complaining and i have had less issues since the update, my latency is a lot lower even if im doing something else like downloading something or watching a video the highest my latency has gone is 400 which before it would go to 800+.

Well then that's you 👍 the majority of people and the content they want to play is unplayable... Try some endgame PvP or pve and see if you still have the same opinion. I haven't spoken to anyone involved in endgame having a good time with this patch.

Have no idea of Cyrodil. Have not been there for a year or so, but today when i am playing, the abilities in basic delve with just couple of other players take few retries to actually fire.. No, not mean spamming like crazy but just patiently pressing the button to fire that ability, then again and then again until it actually fires. My staff wont attack when i try to do heavy attack, it just wiggles and foeds nothing unless i release the attack button and try again couple of times. I cant loot some of the corpses, loot windows sometimes take couple of seconds to open..

All this with network latency of 70 average and framerate being around 100 on the delve for example. Latency spikes happen at times when it jumps up to 150 for second or so, but it seems steady and good most of the time, yet the game feels pretty unresponsive .

The latest big patch that was promised to improve loading times, did reduce the initial loading screen before character selection, but the loading screens in game take just as much time as they did before. I used a timer to compare before and after patch.

I wish its still the year ESO launched, at least back at the day, the game worked just fine even with all the bots and players all around. Is there some caching issue on server side perphaps, that keeps data from players not in the area anymore to interfere with the client perphaps. Dont know. I just wish it be fixed. The perfprmance improvment plan looks pro, ising, but i fear it does not do the thing its supposed to be.

If you are talking about the PC, there are no memory leaks, at least not on the client side (our computers) in a way that game starts to use excessive amounts of RAM .

Although I completely agree and confirm everything said here about lag and other issues, I have a HW monitoring app running while playing with overlay active in-game that showing CPU/GPU/RAM usage/temp and RAM is on my PC locked constantly at around 5/16 GB.
I never saw spikes or strange RAM usage increases.
At least not while playing PVE/Dungeons.

Congrats? In cyro yesterday my ram usage got bloated several times to the point where I crash to desk top or freeze. Just like mulithreading is also not working properly since the fix. One core constant stressed to 80% , the rest at 20.

I don't think it is a memory leak either. I tried everything to stop the horrifying performance. I haven't played with an addon since the update and I've rebooted everything and still crappy performance in PvP. When we had a memory leak it seemed like rebooting increased performance for a while.
