  • wdadams1965ub17_ESO
well I don't care when the do it. they just need to stop taking so many coffee breaks while the do it. the 6 hr plus down time stuff has to go. tiny patch 6hrs.
What will a large patch be. 48 hrs?

As it is now my 30 day play time has turned into 22 at this rate.

Friday night primetimes around the world are the only times to consider here. Friday night primetimes are contained within a 24 hour period, so simply making maintenance another day than Friday will fix this.
So you say *** the people with the bank bug I want to play friday night? Classy.

Sorry what? I say make the maintenance on another day than Friday, where did I say anything about banks?

You're definitely trolling. Go away and don't speak to me again.

Instead of moaning how about you first go see "why" there is maintenance?
They are introducing the fixes for the bank bug.

I'd rather not lose everything in my bank and happily will wait for Maintenance to be done.

To the OP, what would you expect? They sure as hell arent putting it in american primetime.

I think he would expect to be able to play the game he's paying for during his prime time...

Not if you live in a region that makes up less than 5% of players. Id rather they fix the bank issue for players who have it than worry about pissing some aussie off.

Let's not turn this into a minority vs majority thing... Simple fact of the matter is they're negatively effecting a very large amount of their customers and we have every right to voice our concerns.

There are ways to do this without inconveniencing such a large volume of paying customers.

I probably wouldn't mind Friday's, but this particular one is kind of mind blowing. It's a holiday where most people in the US have off, and even Zenimax would probably take off, but instead doing a maintenance.

As much as I don't like gw2. They have a solid solution of updating there game every 2 weeks, sometimes in between. It takes a whole matter of them saying 'New Build, restart your client' it downloads ad you are able to play. (Not several hours of some maintenance that doesn't fix anything) Hell they are even going to megaserver technology and still will probably be able to do the same thing.

Lawlz - No thats not what we say, we say, change the day, change your server schedule to be more in line with the majority of your paying customer base, and fix your game during those times, including a bug that has been reported on in this forum since January.

    ps. this is April.

I don't think most people are complaining about specifically today's maintenance, so attacking them for that is kinda pointless. The point is that they picked Friday for one of the two regular maintenance days.

Friday maintenance is a terrible idea. Take today for example. It's a long weekend Good Friday, I wake up ready to put in a 15 hour ESO marathon, oh snap, server maintenance. At least the WOW servers are up. I think I will unsub for a month or two and avoid some of these growing pains.

This is going to happen until all the major bugs are worked out, unless there are some here who are fine with them not fixing the sudden loss of skill points, bank slots, and the items within. How about we ask them to wait till all of us lose our stuff :/ or how about we let them fix it asap, like today perhaps. The latter is a better choice.

Me, i'm using this downtime to catch up on some anime I haven't watched yet. Go do something else for a while.

Until they're moved to the EU datacentre... It's not an issue now but there's no point us using that server mate.

No day or time is really good, because somewhere, someone is going to feel it's bad for them. All they can do is pick a day and time that does the least harm. One I play does theirs from 3 am to 11 am PST, which can still be annoying sometimes, but it's on a Tuesday, at least.

Now hold your horses mister. My "weekend" is Sunday morning 6am (PST) and ending Wed night at 8pm when I have to be arriving at work.

Your weekend is not my weekend and there certainly isn't 4 days that are the same for everyone or even most people. I'm sure there is a legitimate reason they picked friday besides them sitting around their morning meeting discussing ways they can *** us off more.

I actually don't mind friday being the maint time because with my hours I get screwed no matter what, because when I get off work at 6am PST is just falls in those 'most dead hours' that companies try to do their IT maintenance. It sucks Tues happens to be one of those common dead days as well since its my day off, but as someone who works for a bank as an engineer I can understand it.

I don't LIKE having a second morning of no play time, but it was stated that these are just the assigned 'windows' and they may not use them both every time. Realistically though I would expect them to for a few months here while all the major bugs are getting worked out.

It just is this way for MMO launches. I've never seen one that didn't have horrendous downtime in some way shape or form. At least we get a day warning (or more) with these guys and its not an epic multiday CRASH causing the downtime, but an actual maint with planned fixes.

instead of bitching and whining about 5% of the player base and fixing bugs, how bout u read the changes to the downtime schedule posted by jessica stating this is an ongoing thing, to screw up prime time for the half of the world that doesnt revolve around the US of A and europe.

Why should we be penalised just so u can play in prime time.

I swear one day in the future a gaming company is going to create a game with only an Australian megaserver and i am gonna sit here laughing my ass off at all the north American idiots complaining about patches in there prime time. It will be poetic friggin justice.

Ill simply wait at a later time to play, instead of crying on the forums. Some of us have lives outside of gaming you know, and to me, this is something i do on my off time. We all do not revolve our lives around waiting for a video game to be done with maintenance, some of us check, and then if its not up, go out and do something in the real world.

Ima go to the bar and get ***, come back and enjoy some pvp action.

I realise I must be the most unlucky player from Australia as the last two opportunities I have had to play this week, the maintenance has started within 15mins of me logging on. I find myself having to seriously consider my future time investment into a game that may continue to frustrate me with unavailability. While I realise the maintenance is scheduled (sometimes) it leaves me with the decision of whether to tolerate or quit this game altogether.

I am in total love with this game in every way and have never once spoken out about aspects I am unhappy with here or in game for that matter. But here I am asking zeni to reconsider the current maintenance, at least consider a rotating roster and not on friday night of the long weekend where I have plans for everyday but friday night and saturday morning.

But I digress the point is that with a subscription payment model you really need to be catering for your customers over the long term. Not geographically ostracising them, with ill timed maintenance schedules. Because unlike a game where you buy it, own it and can continue to play it at no cost, this game has a large upfront "joining fee" as well as a subscription to give you access. Therefore the players are not as committed to "getting their moneys worth" as much as they are trying to avoid spending more money on a game that they cannot play (enjoy) long term.

Finally I realise the futility of even articulating these feeling on this forums as I would be surprised if any employee or mod will even read this, let alone bring about any measurable beneficial changes. Even so here is my contribution to the problem. I hope this is just mmo teething issues and we can to some normalcy sooner rather than later.
    Cheers

Well there's a difference been our weekend, and your "weekend". The quotation marks. In reality, you work during the weekend and you get time off during the week instead. I'm sure many people do this but unless a majority do it for exactly the same days then I don't see how it can be taken into account for maintenance days? Hence why you stick to keeping real weekends free, and those that have to take up jobs that make them work over the weekend deal with that alongside everything else they have to give up for taking those kinds of jobs.

Don't care when downtime happens. Only want bugs fixed and a more functional and polished game. Go to bed early Friday night or go out on that awesome holiday of yours instead of playing a game you've been playing all week. Come back tomorrow to a better, less exploitable experience. Also to less of a chance of losing everything in your bank because they have hopefully fixed whatever it is that caused it... but either way, it's not like anything (especially crafting mats) is particularly hard to get with a couple hours of just walking around a bit. You're probably already wearing your best gear anyway.
