This is actually exactly why we NEED the option to hide shoulders. Look at this horrible design. What's holding those shoulder pieces on? There's literally no support system for them and they just look dumb as Hades! MANY of the shoulders just look awful. But I get that some people like them. So c'mon ZOS make EVERYONE happy and just give us a "hide shoulders" option to go along with the "hide helmet" option! And if you can figure out a way to make it apply to costumes (after all it works with whatever headgear comes with a costume) then EVEN BETTER!

I was thrilled when they updated female armour to no longer have cleavage slits or other unnecessarily revealing bits. Since then there seems to have been a steady trend with new motifs/outfits where if it is not revealing for a male character, neither is it revealing for a female one. Armour is meant to protect, no matter which gender you are. That is a trend I'd like to see continue, but an outright 'hide chest' or 'hide legs' option would absolutely butcher the attempt that was made by ZOS to keep things at least slightly realistic.

While I agree with you (I also don't want to see bikini plate armor and high heels on female knights) I would like more variety on armors. Light "armor" is not really armor, it doesn't have a protection role like leather or metal, so because it is clothing, it can be more revealing in some cases. For Redguards it makes sense for them to have a lighter outfit with more revealing shirts because of the hot climate they live in.

I don't think this costume was so bad, I really liked it and I was disappointed when they rolled back these:

This is the old Redguard disguise, I think it is Forebear (early 2015, Valley of the Blades quest)
    hh7TJAQ.png

If you are an old TES fan you know the outfits in the previous games were much more revealing for certain classes of NPCs. Games like Daggerfall had such outfits and the good thing with it is how original they were, those outfits were iconic for that game. However knights or warriors still had full armor.

Divines and Daera but I want those costumes back and DYEABLE! Pretty please ZOS!

Correct me if im wrong, but cant you make outfitter hide gear? Or is that just helms?

Also, know im gonna get hate but i disagree with hiding all different armors but helms and shoulders. We dont need to be running around nekkid, and if someone does, just use the nordic bathing towel.

And redguard light armor (along with other races exposed to extreme levels of heat/sunlight) shouldnt be revealing, itd cause extreme levels of sunburn. Look at real-life clothing for extreme heat-climates: its the material.

Finally, the whole "light armor shouldnt just be clothes" argument is faulty to me. Light material is literally cloth, so by nature, its not going to be thick like leather and metal armors.

    Please add hide everything.
I want to be able to hide any slot of armor at any time; we already know the whole argument of "well it ruins my immersion" isn't a good one because I can already run around in a nordic bathers towel if i want, or a Worm Wizard robe without getting gutted by guards, or as a skeleton polymorph without being murdered by guards.

It's a massive shame we can't show off all the nice skins/markings we get because they get covered up by almost all armor pieces and the few that do show chest barely show enough.

I'd like to see the option.

Though, tbf, they have been getting better with their shoulder piece designs. And a lot of people are going to think they look good hiding shoulders and they won't (some of the way the armors look with no shoulders at all are not good).

I'd love to see the option to hide shoulders. It is one thing I struggle with each time I try to get a character to look the way I want and end up feeling frustrated every time.

    Thanks for considering this Zos!

I’d prefer for ZOS to implement this by creating some better looking outfit motifs, especially for light armour.

That way they’d have some control over the balance between stylish/fashionable and sexualised. I would really like the former, but not the latter.

Good looking motifs don’t need to be lore or gamebreaking, you only have to look at some of the costumes to see that ZOS is totally OK with lots of bare flesh. But there are almost no light armour motifs that even look like clothes, let alone decent ones.

As far as monetisation goes, ZOS would make a killing selling them in the store.

    Yes.

Also, need hide belt buckle (for the floating ones on some costumes!), hip guards, crotchflaps and buttflaps.

Hide gloves and feet might be popular, too, although they're less urgent.

    It's (currently) just helms.

Also, know im gonna get hate but i disagree with hiding all different armors but helms and shoulders. We dont need to be running around nekkid, and if someone does, just use the nordic bathing towel.

But, if they can use the bathing towel, why would it be worse if they could hide other items?

Personally, I'm not asking for hide chest/pants, as I am a female playing a female character, so wouldn't hide either.

However, I don't see any problem, with male chars especially, hiding chest?

But, things like belt buckles, hip guards and butt/crotch flaps are a separate issue, as all can potentially ruin an otherwise nice outfit/costume.

In that case, it's not about running around naked, it's about streamlining and making, otherwise unusable, skins usable.

Finally, the whole "light armor shouldnt just be clothes" argument is faulty to me. Light material is literally cloth, so by nature, its not going to be thick like leather and metal armors.

    I agree with this.

I think you have to give people credit that most of them will be able to make their own decisions re. what looks OK and what doesn't.

After all, they're already able to mix and match different armours/skins and most chars look OK.

...and if they don't, they don't.

Some of it will be down to personal taste, anyway.

I proposed making Emperor's New Clothes style for Jester's Festival some time ago. I'm for making all of the slots hideable, I myself wouldn't run around naked but I like to have options. I don't care about how other players look. After bright and loud magenta armor dyes, Orcs in wedding dresses ant nordic bathing towels theres not much to ruin in that regard. THis is an MMO and unfortunately rp is not important to everyone. Deal with it.

You do realise that roleplayers are usually a group of people who are very much for this kind of thing? Because we want as many options as possible to dress our characters. We should be able to look like the npcs, which includes hiding ugly levitating shoulders and stuff.

    As for the topic:
This is requested at least once a month and I would love to have the option to hide more than just shoulders.
Honestly, I'd much prefer seeing naked people over all the horrible dye jobs, cartoony skins, weird body/face markings and whatnots we already have.
Makes me remember years ago when I played Age of Conan. That game's version of "outifts" was great. Just a second equipment tab where you put the gear pieces you wanted the look of. Or clicked the small window to hide that piece, which could be all if you wanted. Did you see naked people running around with their bits jiggling? Yes, but most people didn't and simply used the options to make their characer look the way they wanted, which was everything from barechested barbarians, fully armoured soldiers to necromancers in just a robe.

People who wants to be an eyesore or whatever it is they want, will find a way to do so, they already have several options ingame for it. Others shouldn't suffer because of that and lose out on options.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

Definitely shoulders and chests should have a hide option. I like to use a lot of different body markings on my alts so have to use the Sai Sahan chest piece, but that doesn't work with every motif and quite a few of the shoulder styles appear to be floating if you don't use that particular styles chest piece with it. And I like to have my alts looking good. Here's my Redguard DK & Breton magNecro sporting a lack of chest armour #barechestedheroes #bodyart #hashtag.....
