Yeah let me on that "hide shoulders" bandwagon. Either do it like the hide helmet option, or give us an "invisible" motif to equip on parts we want to hide.
Struggling to find a new class to call home. Please send help.

I'm going to put in my two cents here and wait for the hate to roll in...

I'm all in favour of getting a 'hide shoulder' option, in fact I think it's long overdue for the simple thing it is. I would also be in favour of hiding belts, and gloves. That is however where it ends for me. I am, and will remain, vehemently against a 'hide chest' or 'hide legs' option (I also oppose a 'hide boots' option but am not as strongly against it as I am to the former two).

There is nothing I want less than to see this beautiful game be reduced to people running around naked/scantily clad wherever, whenever. Yes, we have some "revealing" motifs/costumes already, but they're at least something. This game isn't World of Warcraft where ultra-revealing armour is the norm. This is ESO, which at least tries to pay lip-service to a degree of realism.

I was thrilled when they updated female armour to no longer have cleavage slits or other unnecessarily revealing bits. Since then there seems to have been a steady trend with new motifs/outfits where if it is not revealing for a male character, neither is it revealing for a female one. Armour is meant to protect, no matter which gender you are. That is a trend I'd like to see continue, but an outright 'hide chest' or 'hide legs' option would absolutely butcher the attempt that was made by ZOS to keep things at least slightly realistic.

Hiding shoulders, gloves, and belts would add so many dynamics and flavours to the types of outfits/armours we can design while keeping things grounded in reality, but I'm afraid that hiding chests/legs opens up a Pandora's box I'd rather not see unleashed upon this game that I love so much.

Please do it at least for shoulder

Also a lot of poeple want to hide the flap but i do think those would be harder to hide
They probavly would need to separate the model of the flap from the one of the chest so you can have one without the other

I'd love to be able to hide shoulders, get rid of those hideous tassets off chests ( I understand it would be nigh impossible to hide those on existing armour, be it as they're chest attached ) and I'd really like the option to hide shoes so that my Wood elves can run around with bare feet.

id also like to throw my support in for hide shoulders.

Having hide chest, hide belt, hide gloves and hide shoes would be excellent as well.
If people want hide pants, it doesnt trouble me, nor would it break my immersion, but I dont personally want or need hide pants.

I'd like to hide any and all. I quess ZoS is not sitting on that feature from just evil, greed and puritanism but are stuck at some outfit related coding problem they can't resolve. Judging from running on weapon and invisibility blues.

While I agree with you (I also don't want to see bikini plate armor and high heels on female knights) I would like more variety on armors. Light "armor" is not really armor, it doesn't have a protection role like leather or metal, so because it is clothing, it can be more revealing in some cases. For Redguards it makes sense for them to have a lighter outfit with more revealing shirts because of the hot climate they live in.

I don't think this costume was so bad, I really liked it and I was disappointed when they rolled back these:

This is the old Redguard disguise, I think it is Forebear (early 2015, Valley of the Blades quest)
    hh7TJAQ.png

If you are an old TES fan you know the outfits in the previous games were much more revealing for certain classes of NPCs. Games like Daggerfall had such outfits and the good thing with it is how original they were, those outfits were iconic for that game. However knights or warriors still had full armor.

I proposed making Emperor's New Clothes style for Jester's Festival some time ago. I'm for making all of the slots hideable, I myself wouldn't run around naked but I like to have options. I don't care about how other players look. After bright and loud magenta armor dyes, Orcs in wedding dresses ant nordic bathing towels theres not much to ruin in that regard. THis is an MMO and unfortunately rp is not important to everyone. Deal with it.

Another game does in fact have a set of gear that hides the item in the slot when equipped.

Not only pants, let us run around without anything on. I don't see the point in full body tattoos when a majority of all armour sets and clothing covers the whole body.

Hey folks, we appreciate you all taking the time to provide your feedback in this thread!

Yes, but when are you guys going to ACT on this feedback? You must be aware by now that many of us have asked for more hide features and we KNOW you have them, we've seen the screenshot! We just want to show off all those tattoos and skins you keep giving/selling to us. Add to that even more cusomisation possibilities.

And what is with this obsession with hip flaps on everything, including robes? Many otherwise lovely styles are ruined by oversized, floating hip plates, bum flaps, groin flaps, etc, many of which clip horrendously. We were given a rather nice necro costume a while back - I put it on my necro, then immediately took it off again due to silly floating metal pieces on the hips. I haven't equipped it since and now it gathers dust. Unnecessary metal pieces that would just hook on sleeves in battle and worst of all, they FLOAT off the hip! These things totally ruin any chance of a sleek profile for my characters.

Please, PLEASE let us have more hide slot options. Let us show off our tatts and skins in STYLE without flaps!
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

I agree, a hide shoulder option would be great. Maybe even an option to hide left and/or right for even more customization.

For some armor types the Assassins League shoulders (I think its medium) clip just enough to make it look like you're not wearing a shoulder piece. Its even better with Honor Guard shoulder pieces but I dont have that motif yet.

The hip flaps are often pretty ugly, an option to hide them or a slider to move them would be great!

Not sure how it changed when they added Transmog (Outfit system) to WoW, but when I was playing they'd already stopped making "revealing armor" by the second expansion. There'd been a moderate amount in the base game, and a bit in Burning Crusade. Wrath & Cataclysm didn't really.

(Also, outside of a couple pieces I wouldn't say any was "ultra revealing". It's not like it was TERA armor.)
This is ESO, which at least tries to pay lip-service to a degree of realism.

Eh, if you say so. Also, "realism" is boring.

I was thrilled when they updated female armour to no longer have cleavage slits or other unnecessarily revealing bits.

When was this? The base game has some, and there's been various ones ever since.
Armour is meant to protect, no matter which gender you are.

True. But, again, this is boring. Also, the stuff that we're being attacked with a lot of the time in MMOs? If it was even "paying lip service to realism", they'd just kill you regardless of what armor you're wearing.
Hit by a 20' Giant's club? Doesn't matter if you're wearing 2"-thick Plate - even if the plates don't buckle, or your joints (which still have to move) all collapse - the impulse transmitted to your internal organs through the armor would still utterly kill you.
Ditto with fighting Dragons - same issues with getting hit/bit/tail-whacked, plus the addition of fire breath - all your cloth should burn, that fur collar especially. Your hair should burn off. The metal would flash heat and cause serious issues. Etc.

So, no. There's very little "realism" in any monster-fighting game, even when the armor is Super Boring Realistic.™

Of course, "realistic armor in combat" was thrown out the window a long time ago, by the Costume system. There's lot of people wearing cloth street clothes in combat. /shrug

edit: note, I'm not advocating for Hide Chest/Hide Legs (although with some of the massive skirt/etc Chest options, Hide Legs would work really well). I just always advocate against But Realism™ says... posts. ;)

edit2: just as an aside - I grew up with 60's-90's Western Fantasy (long before Eastern f2p MMOs adopted the style and made everyone on the internet dismiss it as "ew, slutty anime 'armor'"). So battle bikinis, barbarians in loincloths, sorceresses in Yandy lingerie dresses, John Carter & co running around Mars swordfighting in the nude, etc... all of that is part of "Fantasy" for me. So games that try to look like Medieval Mud & Peasants with dull grey featureless tin-cans for armor ("it's realistic!") just utterly turns me off.

As far as hiding armor, it makes more sense to allow for hiding heads and shoulders simply because those are often monster sets, and are less likely to match the rest of a players' armor. Especially given that monster shoulders seem to sit above the rest of the armor rather than as a part of your gear. It's really weird.
