Just curious amd I might learn something about what's ok in guilds and what isn't. Sometimes I dont know if im being annoying. Im always polite and helpful and chatty but maybe that gets on people's nerves.

Thanks for your answers

My guildies are pretty chill. It's sometimes hard to follow some chat discussions, I prefer talking on discord but it's really nice most of the time.

I get annoyed by overly chatty guildies chatting about nonsensical stuff. Then if someone has a request, it gets quickly buried by all the nonsense. But that's just me. A lot of people enjoy that kind of chattiness.

I think a lot of those come from people trying to port to you. Invite to Group and Travel to Player are next to each other on the menu

It's not so much what they say...but that they seldom shut up what they're saying. Hearing/reading a play-by-play call of every dramatic minutia of one's life brings out the mute button. Too much info! Sorry, this is a game...not group therapy.

On the other hand, it's always nice to be involved with people help helping other people learn the game.

The old GM of a guild I pvp with goes on angry homophobic rants when he gets killed, shouts out people to focus....but doesn't give any indication of what direction they are, constantly accuses people of cheating when they kill him while there is a perfectly reasonable explanation as to how they did kill him, calls people out for using 'thumbless skills' but also uses those skills and consistently criticises Zos for random stuff like a rock he got stuck on(instead of walking around it).

I like to calmly explain how those people aren't cheating......which infuriates him even further.....which is fun because he only has two teeth left and ends up accidently spitting his dentures out when he gets REALLY mad.

But really though, there's no place for the homophobic rants in this day and age.

Think the things that annoy me the most if when people start being homophobic and sexist which thankfully doesn't happen in most of the guilds I'm part of now.
The second thing is when people in one of my PvP guilds starts whining about green alliance in Cyro after we've spent the whole evening attacking DC and holding Ale & Dragon multiple times while AD have had one or both of our scrolls, BRK & Drake for 2 hours straight because we somehow didn't wanna attack AD either...

I get annoyed by overly chatty guildies chatting about nonsensical stuff.

Same. I especially dislike when guild members talk to each other about private things in guild chat... :| For example:

    1) - Hey, *playername*, you're here?
    2) - Yes
    1) - come visit my house, i made some changes and want to show you
    2) - ok, coming
*random words and phrases which make no sense to everyone else, because those people are standing in that house and expressing emotions about what they see there, like "lol", "nice", "didn't expect that"*

Or those crafting requests for everyone to see, which should also be discussed in whisper/group chat between crafter and "client"...

It's the reason I sometimes disable guild chats. But I don't like to do it, because sometimes there is some nice info or interesting questions/game discussions. So most of time I have to be irritated by useless things in guild chat as well :/

    "Healers shouldn't res." :|

Healers shouldn't res is just a funny curve. In the beginning, a lot of people think it's what being healer means. Then they learn that it's much safer for a DD to res while they keep healing. While that remains true in a lot of cases, they then realize that there's a lot of situations where healers can safely res and it's better for group if other DD keeps doing damage. :D

Don't have anything to add to the discussion because honestly I only stay in guilds I like. I don't mind idle chatter cause I like the people. Only thing that might bother me was if some huge discussion started, but then what else am I gonna have in my chatbox? Don't whisper enough to get annoyed by spam I guess. ^^

    I'll focus on good things!
We have one guildie who logs on and the first thing he says is "Hi, anyone need help with anything"
Duplicate recipes/patterns are linked in guild chat saying " Free to good home"
Our master crafters are always willing to craft things for researching for free, yes even the expensive things!
We have another guildie who offers to buy things for others with his writ vouchers

I could go on and on.... I'm lucky to have such a great group of people.

I have a guildmate who insists on explaining his entire character backstory and creation philosophy in guild chat. He'll ramble on for paragraph after paragraph when no one asked him or responds. When he first started doing this, I thought I had another guildmate on ignore and was only seeing his half of a conversation. Nope. He was just typing away.

"So I really want that new Elsweyr set for my outcast/disavowed/rogue evil sorc. She was forced out of the mages guild because they eventually found out that an 'accident' she was involved in when she was an apprentice was actually her fault. But when she left she took the prized spellbook of a senior mage instructor so she's been running from them ever since. The blue/gold color theme of her robe reflects her longing for belonging while she remains shunned by society. I think I'll switch her back bar to bow because she's a bosmer and that's part of her heritage and a good backup for when she's low on magicka and I like how that fits in with the rest of my characters. Is the Crafty Alfiq bow good for a magicka sorc healer? I've never done a dungeon because she isn't comfortable in crowds due to events that occurred in her childhood but I think I want to do a few vet trials to because I need more gold jewelry to decon as she's sorta obsessed with jewelry and loves pretty baubles so do you think a resto/bow dps sorc would be best with matching sets or can I get by in vet trials just using whatever I find? I'm really not sure how this whole build thing and set thing works..."

Talking about their guildmates behind their backs on the forums? Kidding. Really though, the people who do this:

"I need help with mats to complete my new set"
There you go, hope it helps
"Wow, how do you have so many mats?"
Farming mostly. Want me to show you some good spots?
    "No thanks!"

    1. Treat people the way you want to be treated. If you are a masochist, then just be polite. Please and Thank You go a long way.
    2. Show respect for someone's time. As in don't expect them to drop what they are doing right now and come running.
    3. If you want someone to craft for you, offer at least the materials like Cloth, Leather, Wood, Metal. If you have the Blue and or Purple Tempers, provide those. No matter what, send a tip. Again, respect their time.
    4. Be politically correct in Guild Chat. Your buddy may be ok with what your saying, but the rest of the guild might not be.
    5. If you take something from the bank, replace it with something of similar value. Like you take a Breton Motif, deposit an Orc motif.
    6. Cussing in chat does not make you sound cool, it just illustrates a limited vocabulary.
    7. There is a reason why religion and politics are not discussed at the dinner table. Keep that out of guild chat too.

    That should cover it.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

My guildies in general are awesome. My one pet peeve is when people don't use push to talk- I don't think that they realize how sensitive their mics are, and sometimes they sound like they're in a wind tunnel even if they're not one of those heavy breathers. Or everyone hearing their keyboard constantly clacking. It's not a HUGE deal if they're just doing normal stuff, but still annoying.

Worse offenders who got put on mute involve screaming children in the background (I don't think some of these kids even need to breathe given how they're able to just SCREAM without stopping), nasal breathing, and one dude who would just constantly... moan? Groan? Both? Like, it sounded like... I'll leave that to y'all's imaginations. I'll just say that other guildies thought the same.

JUST USE PTT FOR GOD'S SAKE... I play on a controller and have a keyboard in my lap, and if *I* can occasionally hold down my PTT button with my pinkie while in the midst of battle, no one has an excuse for not using it.

These people have ALWAYS gotten kicked for this, but one of my guilds tends to have a bit more drama. One dude got mad and immediately called people the homophobic slur that rhymes with "maggot". Just seeing that really ugly side of a person who was otherwise normal and nice up to that point is kind of disheartening.

But all of this is just like... 1% of my interactions. The other 99% have been wonderful.

My guildies are great. Very relaxed, very friendly, very helpful, and they host fine events!
They even put up with my frequent phases of 'What do I have to do now? - Ah, I see, thanks! And ... exactly how do I do that?' - Yes, I'm the annoying one.
I really wish I could be just as helpful, as in, carry others through dungeons for fun etc., but at least I can put rare recipes in the guild bank and dispense bites of all types ^^.

So far nothing has annoyed me in either my pve guild or pvp guild.

Maybe if there was an over share on rl problems like medical stuff. Saying you were absent because of x is fine but getting into the moist and fleshy details is... unnecessary.

It wasn't really something that happened in one of my guilds, but a few days ago I was just idling for a bit in front of a wayshrine, thinking about where to go. I ported and when I arrived I suddenly found someone had whispered me. The message was something along the lines of: "Hey, looking for a friendly guild to hang out and relax? Come to [guild name]".

I mean, recruiting in zone chat, sure, but what the hell was that all about? Just whispering random people? Have to admit, it kinda weirded me out. Felt like an imaginary hand on my Dunmer's knee and a creepy voice in his ear telling him where to find the best candy.
This poor little Bosmer stealth passive had passionate friends and a big loving family!

My pve guild is full of lovely helpful people that aren’t too crazy.
