Hi, all. If you feel like a player is violating our Terms of Service, we invite you to file a report in-game. Our team will certainly look into the report, and determine if it is indeed a violation.

Plain and simple it comes down to this ....

People are only complaining cause they feel like they are missing content. But the truth is you are not. Their are other ways to become a Vampire or WW. You can get a player to bite you.

That being said if you PAY for a bite you are just silly. Their are a number of guilds including mine who give bites away to our guild members for free. The best solution is to join one of these guilds and get yourself a bite.

Now you are not missing content, you are not stopping other players from playing how they like, and you have everything you want as well.

Our guild is planning on giving bite for free to everyone once we all get turned. We are doing what we can to combat the scammers, and people selling bites. If we all work together and bite everyone for free, we can bottom out the market on the sellers and they will stop. If their is no demand, the prices will bottom out and not be worth it to them.

    DON'T BUY BITES!

if you are interested in a guild on the NA servers that gives bites to its members for free hit me up in game @Kuthel. We currently have over 160 members, and approximately 30 vampires who can currently give away bites. Current wait time for a bite is about a week for our newest members.

    Basics
    - Its a part of the game design that you can be bitten in order to become a vampire/werewolf.
    - It was not intended for players to exploit a game mechanic such as this in order to gain an unfair advantage such as demanding gold/real money in order to let people be bitten
    - Now the exploitation is escalating into actual real money
    - ZeniMax has to decide if they want to allow this exploitation and turn it into a feature or start treating the exploiters the same as goldsellers/botters

Please tell me if I am understanding correctly or if i'm missing something.

And yes, eventually I want one char to be a werewolf, and another to be a vampire, but right now its obvously not worth the hassle.

They probably will end up removeing the content/skill line in order to take care of the problem anyway.

The easiest way to STOP the abuse is to stop buying. If their is no demand, then nobody will sell it. But while you have people trying to take the fast track buying the bites, its going to exist.

Give my guild some time, and in a few short weeks you will see the bite sellers disappear.

To the apologetics of those ******bags who block access to NPCs. How about you are asked to pay 10.000gold to be able to leave the starter island because otherwise the npc captain is being constantly bugged/killed/blocked on purpose by a guild under the pretense of RP but in fact simply for blackmail...would that be ok in you mind?

What about people who park giant mounts on NPCs to block their dialogues (ala wow)...is that also ok in your mind?

There is no excuse for acting like a ******bag

Not interested in the Vamp thing myself, but it does seem that the players were in fact griefing the OP.

OP: Just take a screen shot and report each player involved. ZOS will probably at least warn these players to refrain from such activity, if not temp ban them if there are a lot of complaints about their particular in-game actions.

No action is going to be taken against players doing this, I can guarantee that. Even Blizzard would stay "hands off" in this situation, and they tend to take action against players for things more often.

Situations like this are usually solved by a development change, that makes it impossible for the people to keep doing it, rather than punishing players.

Personally, I think that if more players were punished for such atrocious behavior, MMO communities would be much better for it.

So yes OP, do report them.
  • thegamekittenub17_ESO
I would be utterly surprised to see any company finally stand up to griefers, cheaters, and botters. The reason for this ...is simply because it would actually be a first in my MMOing that actually thought of the players that weren't using excuses to cheat other players out of content and not purely the company thinking of their pockets.

It most asurely would not kill the company, it might need a little band aide, but once players saw a company that actually cared about a players right to enjoy all content and started punishing those that try to find excuses to grief other players on certain content...it would almost be a miracle and more customers would eventually come.

Let me guess, you're one of them.

Stationing players near the spawn points of rare spawns that offer nothing when you kill them, just to hinder other players is the very definition of griefing. These people then charge exorbitant prices to get the bites. It's extortion, and griefing.

Just today, my buddy got his werewolf bite. I bunch of people were gathering to help each other get it. Suddenly someone ran up up, killed the spawn and ran away. They knew damn well what they were doing, what everyone else was doing and purposefully ruined it. That is griefing.

Regarding people camping and controlling werewolf & vampire hotspots, we're just seeing social dynamics at work, not necessarily a bug or even an exploit in the "bannable" sense.

In games, just as in the real world, many people will strive to turn a loophole into an opportunity.

The problem is, while people behave dynamically, the game nor the game world are dynamic. For that you need sandbox contexts - this doesn't mean sandbox world in the UO sense, simple dynamics you see in the single player TES games would do ... wandering NPCs and rng spawn locations would help a lot.

When you design a game for thousands, hopefully millions, of players, you have to be out of your mind to make everything spawn at a specific /loc every time. Not only does a static world leave the door wide open to exploitation, but it vastly diminishes the replay value of the game - when you know where everything is already, playing through the game with new characters is reduced to a join-the-dots exercise, which - for an MMO - is an invitation to boredom on a massive scale.

That's all they have to fix. Kill the static nature of spawns and NPCs, give them a little AI of their own beyond see-enemy-fight, and you'll not only make things harder for campers, you'll make the world a brighter, more interesting place.

That's not why you're picking these mobs though. It's an excuse. You're hunting down these mobs to obstruct players gaining access to the werewolf or vampire lines. You can make up whatever story you want, you might even manage to cook up a semi-convincing one. But, it's still an excuse. You went after these spawns to grief, and then made up your alibi.

There is no valid reason to kill a rare spawn that only spawns once a week.. The only reason people do it is to
    1. be a ***
    2. be a *** and then try to force people to pay an outrageous amount of gold to get some thing, that they would have otherwise been able to get for free.

I created a thread about this, and zos did agree that it was griefing, and that you can report them, and that they were looking into a fix for it.

Okay, fine, whatever, but you can't roleplay spawn camping. As in you can't pretend the character you're playing is aware that the enemies will pop back into existence at this spot in another 30 seconds. That's not roleplaying, that's metagaming, and it's a hallmark of failing to roleplay.

And, what we're talking about is spawn camping. Anyone who wants to pretend they're roleplaying isn't. It's just the excuse they use so they can keep the market on werewolf and vampires cornered so they can keep raking in the gold.
