EU server launcher just auto-update to build ending 8197 (I think) but NA launcher isn't. Currently waiting for it to repair. Anyway, both still drop me from game as Error: An unknown error has occurred so I'll have to see if I can log into my characters this time, or spend more time with ZOS competitors!

I restarted my client server times to no avail, I switched to EU client it updated and I could login to EU server. I then Switched BACK to NA client and it updated. If you dont have the EU client installed let it start then cancel and switch back they may trigger the NA client to update.

Followed your advice ad it worked fine other than patcher hitting 170% completed before actually finishing...it did work and im now logged in

Been having this same issue today. Restarted client launcher multiple times so far and no update.

I have tried repair twice, opened and closed the launcher, tried the manual update even more times , restarted the computer twice, shut down my firewalls... Nothing has worked

Logins timing out is normally due to not having the most up-to-date client. Try closing out of the client and launcher completely and then reopening the launcher.

Once you've done that, allow the launcher to patch completely. If the launcher does not automatically apply the patch, run the repair option. Instructions on repairing the launcher can be found here. If this doesn't solve this issue, please let us know!

It doesn't solve the issue - there is a problem with the launcher. Many people can't patch to the current version (which leads to the problems in this thread), those who HAVE managed to patch to the current version can't launch the game through the launcher due to error 209 messages BUT can lanuch the game by double clicking the eso.exe file. Please fix the launcher, this is the problem.

Tried the repair option and that didn't resolve the issue either. My errors alternate between login timeout and error 301.

People on some forums are saying it is to do with location and different ips

My Launcher will not patch!!! This is complete BS! Really beginning to hate you Zenimax.

So basically, the solution is to delete all the .version files of the game and then try again. Thanks Zenimax! You really fixed this patch! "Hey everyone, uninstall the game and then reinstall. It won't take you very long." Anyone else wondering if they are just doing this to see what they can get away with on its subscribers?

Getting a rotation of login time out and 301 error messages. Did the repair, restarted launcher a bunch of times, restarted computer, modem, router. Tried everything; i'm not prepared, like many others, to reinstall the game.
  • SapphireBlue
Well something different has happened. It stated it needed to repair and after that has begun a download of what looks like the 500 something patch

    Thanks, this worked for me.

this seems to be the problem, my launcher got corrupted after this patch, had to run the game consultant tool from settings --> about and then run a repair on the game.

    Edit:

Scratch that, the consultant tool just made a report to send to ZoS. Looks like i have to reinstall the launcher or something because when i try to update it says that the launcher version cannot be verified.

    Edit2:

I tried repairing the game a few times, got the error 209 - patch manifest error each time. After about 15 min of repairing over and over, it eventually worked.

So followed all the advice posted by ZOS about restarting the launcher to get it to repair which didn't work.
Then deleted the .version files, finally managed to get the launcher to repair rather than install the whole damn thing again.
Launcher indicates update required so run that and.... Error 209 again. So the 'fix' has left me exactly where I started.

....and as soon as I post this, restart the launcher and everything worked. I'm thinking ZOS really need to have a look at their launcher as it clearly seems to be severely borked.

So it seems after all that I had to wait ~8 hours for a patch that STOPPED me from being able to log in to the game. Awesome, keep up the good work guys>_<
Reopened(~20 times), repaired(3 times), manually searched for updates(many times), switched to EU server and back, nothing.

I don't even get the repair option. How does one go on repairing the launcher?

Look just above where the announcements are and you you see Game Options and a drop down will give you repair. It is not very obvious and you have to look for it. Mine is repairing at the moment.

Crap really with no help from Zenimax at all.

You can launch the game by double clicking the eso.exe file, it's just the launcher that's broken.

That doesn't help those of us who have an out of date game version.

Ok i'm having the exact same problem, and from what i can tell its just UK players experiencing these issues. Correct me if i'm wrong? but from talking with guildies on TS only us UK players are getting these issues. Tried everything and im still getting the rolling login sign and then error 301...

It doesn't? It worked for me. I repaired, but it didn't work, it just messed things up more to where I couldn't even open the game and it was telling me to contact customer support, then I tried to open from the exe and it worked.

Try switching to eu, then switching back to NA, repairing/updating, then exe? Cause that's what I did and it works fine now.
