I've heard it been said 2 ways and wondering how you say it

Warden - WAR-DEN - Like War, what it isn't good for
or
Warden - WAH-DEN - Wah, like Wah Wah

    I’ve never heard it any other way, actually. Pronouncing it the other way in my head sounds like a cartoon Boston accent or something.

    Wouldn't the answer depend on your localisation and the pronunciation of the vowel 'a' and following consonant.

    In other words, if you pawk a cah near the wahta, you probably say wahden. :)

    That's my thoughts on the pronouncing aswell. I go after the word "ward".

    War-den, or war-dun, actually (in my accent).

    I'm British - it's an English word and that is how it's pronounced here.

    I would say "War" as in going to war and "Den" as a den of thieves. However when I say it kinda fast I sound like I am saying War-din

    Honestly, my pronunciation varies. In vowels I'm as in the quote above. And the "d" sound can go on either side of the syllable break.
