MMOs with good foundations can keep going for a long time. ESO is not one of those.

Subjective and an opinion. Lots of people would say the contrary.

    Let me see.

Over-reliance on client side calculations which made the game susceptible to cheat engine alterations followed by a frantic switch to server side calculations which tanked perfomance. Repeated (and I mean repeated) resurfacing of bugs that were supposed to be fixed but somehow came back when some other unrelated thing was changed. Visual and gameplay bugs that are present since beta. Generally poor perfomance. Reducing campaign population cap 5x times to help with perfomance (still failed to fix it, btw). Group finder that stops working under heavy load. Battlegrounds that are not working reliably since the day they were introduced. Absolute mess in ability scaling where random things scale from MAA and thaumaturge without any rhyme or reason. Oh, and of course a poor homebrew engine that is just not capable of staying relevant just 5 years later.

Do I have to keep going? Yeah sorry, those things are not subjective.

Most of these things ZOS has publicly addressed and is something that is being fixed with the next major update

That said I hardly see these things as reason to quit - and I disagree with the final point
    Addressing =/= doing
They addressed many things in the past, yet they didn't change the stuff they've addressed. But when it comes to the crown-store exclusives, they're men of their words.

Who am I kidding.. They are just gonna milk this one dry cuz who would wanna do any work when you can make money doing nothing *cough* crown store *cough*

What exactly are they not doing with this game? We just had about a week of people giving feedback about how ZOS was overdoing it on changes... We receive new content every 3-4 months. The game is constantly expanding and being added towards.

Even if resources are being pulled towards the Crown Store at this point over other options. They are still by and large one of the most productive developers in the MMO genre.

Not currently... More than enough to do with the one we have and despite what you see on the forums the in game pop seems healthy.

I wouldn't mind a ESO 2 frankly....so that... you know....we actually have a good game engine that doesn't tank performance across the board even on high end rigs? lol Seriously the "rebuilt" hero engine they use that they built themselves is pretty bad despite "looking good" thats alls it really does, performance wise? yeah no its a bit of a joke.
Ah, e-communities - the "pinnacle" of the internet............yeah, right.

list off some popular mmo's that compete with TESO.

World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14 are the two most popular currently I believe - and ESO is superior to both of them in my opinion.

    The delusion

If I'm understanding you correctly - and you believe it's a delusion for me to rank ESO above those two games... then why aren't you playing one of those two games instead of this one? Just curious.

I'd love them to go back and polish up the original zones to the quality of the chapter zones.

The game is pretty much ESO2 since One Tamerial, slowing been completely changing everything.

barely half the map (including outer circle) is occupied. And there doesn't even need to be terrain allover the place, they can tweak the current maps for things to happen in them.

I have put too much into housing to switch games now. This game can be polished up to the max or you should be able to transfer your houses. I don't particularly want an Eso 2 but any improvement to Eso itself I won't complain.

Hopefully it’s made by another company. ESO’s days are numbered anyway because when all the RP people who play this game like it’s Skyrim which I would imagine if 50% or more move on to Elder Scrolls 6.

i really dont see the point of this thread

    - eso is still current
    - there is a lot life and stories left in the game
    - it took years to get where we are so why throw it over board
    - zos has no benefit of undertaki g such a huge investment nor would players have any benefit
    - the time for classic mmos is simply over

what i think is more likely is that TES6 will have some online component...but probably not in the way most players would want...

why should zos create competition for their own game, draining their own resources and divide the playerbase

no. Theres still a lot to do in eso and the mini trials are too fun. Vcr+3 and Vas+2. if they do make a eso 2 then i hope they can somehow give us access to these trials

You do know that mini trials ran off a large chunk of end game raid guilds as they saw them as a joke, right?

No, because they already have the TES IP covered and ESO will continue to be expanded across the rest of the TES world for several years to come, and will retain its popularity despite the glass half empty, "they're only interested in the Crown Store" malcontents. They're believed to be working on another MMO but I'd expect that to be based on a very different IP or new theme.

Why should they make an ESO 2 ?

They just need to keep ESO updated and it will be fine.

When they got the performance just right / fixed, they might starting updating other parts of the game at some point, so there's no need to start from scratch.

That's generally not how MMO's work, chief. Do you see a WoW 2?

At the same time we have GW2 and rumors of a new LotRO. I would even say that the re-release of FF XIV was pretty much FF XIV 2. MMOs with good foundations can keep going for a long time. ESO is not one of those.

There are not even any Facts to support this ridiculous claim, referring to the 'ESO is not one of those' part. It's been going for 5 years. All you have to do is log in, any time, day or night, to see that the player base is huge. When was the last time you logged in and there was No One else online?

There is no reason to come up with a brand new game because the primary reason to do so would be if there were some serious flaw with the core rules and how the game is being played. If it were not possible, due to a variety of reasons to fix a dying game - Then you consider creating a new one WITH a new rules structure that addresses the negative issues of the Primary game. Archeage needed this - hence, Archeage : Unchained is coming out. Same game, completely different rules and restrictions.

ESO does NOT need this. ESO is working just fine with a healthy player base. The idea of offering something that would Split that player base and weaken the game is IMHO Ludicrous.

    IMHO

The New World is a sandbox to survivalist MMORPG. Nothing to compare with fantasy MMORPGs like ESO.
And is not set in Tamriel to boot.

Are you unsatisfied with the game in some way?

To be fair, Destiny 2 improved on everything the first Destiny had.

Personally, I'm waiting for an ESO/Fallout 76 event.

To be fair, and from what I've been told, Destiny 2 was a massive step down from D1, and it took them nearly a year to get back to where they were. At that point, D2 probably would have made more sense as an extension of the D1 SKU, with new systems added on top. Granted, that would have left Gjallerhorns in circulation, but we can thank Activision for D2 being a new product.

With that in mind, One Tamriel was ESO2, really. We're already living in the future.
