For tanks the clannfear is great. You can live without it, but the two slots are worthy. Max Health passive + regen passive + Burst heal and if you pair it with Hunt Leader set, it's also ultimate sustain.
Surge procs from criticals, and tanks have low critical rate. The setup works great for dungeons with a lot of mobs, but it stops working in trials. And that's where clannfear steps in.

Depends on Sets, if you combine with Yokedahealset, you're healing faster than the axes do dmg.
we want a class spammable, a stam version of frag and curse, a stam ulti!

What axes are you talking about? I didn't mention any axes. Or you mean the last boss in vAA? Well, it's one of few bosses with adds, so maybe you can use it just for this one boss, but if you go over the latest trials (vSS, vCR, vAS), there are no adds around, only the boss and you as a tank. No set will help you make Surge working in trials.
Either it's bugged or it's just a joke, but with 38k stamina I have a tooltip with 1300 DPS. And that's for an ability that takes 2 slots. LOLNo, thanks.
Using clannfear on PTS is a huge DPS loss
Even with Curse (67% uptime), logs show (self buff, 3M skeleton):
Headbutt 775.8 DPS
Tail Spike 278.5 DPS
On the other hand the new Bound Armaments: 3,638.5 DPS ... for 1 slot

I think this misses the point.
What else are you going to put on your bars?
It's not worth wasting a GCD to cast ... Rending Slashes, Carve, Poison Injection, Soul Trap, or basically any other DoT when you can just hit another spammable instead. Hell, it wouldn't even be worth the GCD to cast Barbed Trap if not for the necessary Minor Force.
The Clannfear only does ~2-3k DPS on raid dummy parse but it's free damage, so you might as well use it, because you also benefit from nice passives for slotting/summoning it.

You can theoreticly tank vAS as a Stamina DD. Ive done it with my Offtank DK with 34k Life, the Mainboss Dmg is completly dodgeable. At the other Bosses you can heal yourself.
Zmajas Heavy can be dodged by Streak, or you put Absorb Magic in your Bar. Its the same. A Sorc is the fastest class in the game, youre faster than the Kitething, youre faster than the cats in vMoL too. Its possible to use Dark Deal with the Classshield this time. Surge works too.
I never tanked vSS since it Release, but there will be an Possibilty - i am shure about it.

Whenever I read demands like this one, I wonder what stamina class identity is actually supposed to be like. Many stamina players seem to want iconic magicka skills to use up the green bar instead of the blue one. A lot of Necro skills already function this way, with obvious spells costing stamina instead of magicka. It makes no sense. What's the point?
Think outside the box. Tyrobag up above has the right idea.

If it did 2-3k DPS I would gladly use it, but it doesn't! It did 1k DPS with the Curse up. It's completely useless. I will rather put utility skills instead (Lightning Ball, Dark Deal, Meditate, whatever).
It's more useful to slot any Fighter's guild ability for + weapon damage than fiddle with the annoying pet.

it would also be nice if they introduced a stamina version of necropotence or simply make necropotence increase your highest stat and updated huntleader to make it more competitive...

Just the headbutt from the Clannfear did 2143 DPS in this parse. It's absolutely worth using. That's with Daedric Prey only up while the Greater Storm Atro is active as well.
You get +2% weapon damage for slotting the Clannfear and +8% for having it summoned as well.
Definitely better than slotting a random Fighters Guild ability.

Bar space isn't an issue because all abilities suck now.
You can literally run Barbed Trap, Clannfear, and Bound Armaments on both bars and do somewhere around the top DPS on a stamsorc in this garbage patch.
