Like on-foot sprint, mounts will now stop sprinting when their Stamina is fully drained.

What a terrible change, please revert it immediately.

I actually think it is a sneak performance enhancement. It will limit the number of groups who can arrive at a keep defense or capture in time, which should lower the amount of lag and strain on the server.

So now stamina on horses will finally work as it should always had worked?

I call that a fix if anything else.

Its a fix but came too late, people used to it for years...

It will make travelling less desirable, so players doing overland will find it less pleasurable.

Still, with 60 stamina is not such an issue.

It's not a fix because it wasn't a bug. Mounts were designed to continue sprinting after running out of Stamina:

Yes, horses can sprint indefinitely without consuming stamina. That said, stamina is still valuable for two other reasons: It protects you from being dismounted when attacked, and if you rapidly press the sprint key you will get big boosts of speed on your mount (but at a much higher stamina cost). Of note, only horse mounts have the endless sprint trait. Other upcoming mount types will have different special traits.

They did suggest that mounts would run out of stamina more slowly than back before the bug.

Low level mounts are going to suck. Any chance we can get a permanent sale on Stamina riding lessons?

Its also a huge disadvantage for new players in Cyrodiil who may not have maxed their mount's stamina.

It was a design feature, not a bug.

But as usual, the PvE crowd has to suffer because of PvP.

I think I'll play Dragonhold to finish the storyline, then I'm out of here. ZoS really needs to sort their act out...

    @VaranisArano
OP somewhat disingenuous quoted only half of the text. Here's the rest.
However, we’ve decreased the Stamina cost of mounted sprint and greatly increased both base Stamina and base Recovery for mounts.

So while yes mounts will stop sprinting after a while they will even at base be able to run for much longer than now even without training in stamina. So exactly how bad it'll be and how much effect it'll have on player experience remains to be... well, experienced.

But man gotta love people who lie for attention. And yes, lying by omission is still lying.

I'd actually read the full patch notes, saw the correct text, and stated my concerns accordingly.

Low level Mounts, and the new players who ride them in Cyrodiil stand to be greatly impacted.

Its also a big change for players who make PVP alts in Cyrodiil. Under the status quo, even a low stam mount can keep sprinting and thus keep up with their PVP guild. Under the new system? I'm concerned.

As you say, we'll see how bad it is on the PTS.

Coming to the crown store this holiday season ... “Stamina Mounts”!!!

These special mounts will allow you to sprint until you are in debt! After their stamina drains it will start to use your gems, followed by crowns, and lastly your credit cards can be billed by the minute!

This is a nerf if you like to defend, but a buff if you enjoy PvDoor.

And to the OP (and millions of teenagers everywhere) literally doesn’t mean what you think it means.

This was legit not a PvP change, this sucks just as hard in PvP as it does in PvE, if not more so. Imagine trying to get to a keep in Cyrodiil where there's a massive faction stack, it's already flagged so you can't port there, you're left with riding there, but can only sprint on your mount like 50% of the time

Cyrodiil has been riding simulator the entire time, even for mounts with maxed sprint speed. This is just as bad for Cyrodiil & PvP, as it is for PvE.

Assuming they don't already sneak everywhere in Cyrodiil for safety. Slotting Rapid Maneuvers is the alternative they want us to use I guess.
For PvE zones I'm guessing it won't be as bad because people either wayshrine most of the distance or are getting off every 3 seconds to pluck a node.

go to test it before screaming at the sky, it's totally fine on the pts.

the stamina goes back up really fast (in seconds) and the mount actually can sprint way longer before running out of stamina ...

nope...... "people shouldn't be able to sprint when their mounts are out of stamina!!" said no one ever, at any point in this games life.

i mean i don't know maybe ZOS just wanted to irritate pvpers more than they already are, but this change like the rest of the patch notes makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm going to agree with this. Even at 3 stam upgrades, my toon I just recently created was able to sprint while mounted for maybe 30 seconds, and the bar refilled in 7 or 8. It's not bad at all, especially when a sneeze is no longer enough to drop me on my butt.

On my main who's at 60 all? I don't recall running completely empty on my stam more than once as I ran around places doing stuff.

Tested with completely unlevelled mount, it takes (very roughly) 20-30 seconds to deplete all mount stamina and somewhere between 5-10 seconds to regenerate it.
I did not measure the times accurately, this is just a rough estimate.

The interesting question here is, how long does it take to regen all stamina on a fully levelled mount.

Well, it's certainly not as bad as I thought it would be! Even with 0/60 mount stamina, you've only to slow down for about 10 seconds or so. So it's one less thing to worry about...
