Maintenance for the week of April 13:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 13
Update 50 is now available for testing on the PTS! You can read the latest patch notes here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/categories/pts

If you want us to play in Imperial City, you need to disable the gankers camping outside the bases

I know I'm a bit late on this but I wanted to add this little tidbit in that needs to get fixed.

There's 8 ways out of the alliance sewer base. But only 1 way back in that doesn't involve wasting 10k AP or dying and losing half your telvar. This is unacceptable.

You may consider it "unacceptable", but it's intended, makes sense in terms of game design and therefore doesn't need to "get fixed".

Not exactly. You can type L and queue to a campaign in Cyrodiil, which takes you to your alliance base there, where you can bank all of your Tel Var. Then you can type L and queue back to your previous campaign in Imperial City.

Thats awesome, and I will be doing that from now on, but still I think we shouldn't be rewarding people who camp by the 1 door back to base. "Intended" or not, its bad game design.

This is why I don't PVP... there's just not be much else to do... so when there is an opportunity for something like this... who wouldn't?

How do you know who an elite PVP player is? A subpar PVP regular can kill an unprepared player in divines in one gcd. AR is irrelevant. Ironically, GO is more important to casual players for dyes. There are many pvdoor GOs and many elite PVP players with no GO characters.
I know fully well that AR doesn't mean much, it's just a measure of time spent in PvP.

But someone who has GO rank has spent so much time in PvP to get max rank, that they should know better than to slaughter questers during events.

They weren't even doing it for AP - since by the time you get GO rank, you have all the AP you could ever need (and much more). That's just griefing purely for the sake of griefing.

It was a totally legitimate place to ambush players, and actual PVP groups were able to handle it.
Yes, and resource tower interiors were also a "totally legitimate place to ambush players" - before ZOS finally removed the doors to stop exactly that kind of exploiting.
    Get real.

I hate event tickets and gift boxes. I would be happy to see them permanently removed from all PVP zones so PVE loot addicts never feel the need to spaz out like this ever again.

This is all about loot addiction. ESO PVE is full of players who don't care about gameplay at all. The do the most mundane, repetitive tasks for the endorphin rush of loot.
That's one thing I fully agree with.
Such things should never be present in any PvP zones - or if they really have to be, then there should be a PvE-only instance of the zone(s) for exactly that purpose.

Having some PvE elements in a PvP zone is fine, and it helps bring life to what would be otherwise dead parts of the zone.
But deliberately luring in hordes of PvEers there, that should definitely stop.

During today's ESO live (about 5 min into it) they said next weeks patch was fixing a number of exploits, and those people doing the exploits better stop. Now they didn't go into details, but hopefully they don't just forgive and forget. Unfortunately ESO has a history of letting people run crazy with exploits until it gets fixed, or completely blows up the game.

Interesting. However I still believe this will only amount to a simple fix and nothing more.

Or instead of siege, they instead used elaborate trap setups that wouldn't be out of place in a certain series of Tecmo games.

Now I'm tempted to replay Kagero again...

But that's what it is - it's a "simple fix" to just put the missing killboxes on the entry platforms in IC sewers, so that any enemies exploiting up onto the platform are instakilled instead.

Or you can wait until the next PvP event in Cyrodiil, and instead do that in ESO - with Warden portals, Sorc mines, siege weapons, and a whole variety of other damage sources :D

I just don't think ZOS is gonna give out any bans like some people are implying.

I don't know who the **** you think you are!
    we pay more money=subjective
    cater the game toward's us.
please quit, with that attitude. you are a prime example of the worst specimen to exert your opinion on how the game should run!
you completely disregard any changes to pvp abilities do to whinny pvper's in the course of the history of the game!
    BIASED!!!!! BRO BRO

sorry the game has a competitive skill gap you yet to understand or willing to at least try, thus you think your subjective opinion should triumph over the people that have grinded and put in the hour's to under stand pvp design etc.
you might of signed up for the wrong game.

Just build a small fence on the edges of the platform so players can't be targeted. Enemy players need to be able to target someone otherwise they can't use their gapclosers to get up there.

That won't work, there has to be some way to jump down from the platform.

And besides, you aren't even supposed to be able to use gapclosers in that room in the first place. But some players have found a way...

Just a friendly reminder that it’s okay and very normal to disagree with others, and even to debate, but provoking conflict, baiting, inciting, mocking, etc. is never acceptable in the official The Elder Scrolls Online community.

The thread seems to have raised some valid points. PvP vs PvE - the sides rarely agree. However, how likely are we to see a ZOS response that is relevant to these points ?

OP is mostly right, but the right move would be to entirely remove PvP envents from the game when they are supposed to be part of a chain of events that you must do entirely to get a reward. Either the events all are Pvp and cater to people who enjoy that, or they cater to the PvE crowd and are not PvP at all. There are, of course, people who enjoy both, and I'll be mighty glad for them to have double the amount of events to participate to, but being forced to either PvE or PvP for the crowds who care only about one of them is, at best boring and at worst infuriating.

While that would certainly be a step in the right direction, it doesn't solve the underlying problem: that the loot-addicted PvEers will invarlably end up doing the PvP events as well, just to get those shiny event tickets, or whatever other reward drops during the event.

In fact, the way the current IC event works, that was already a step in the right direction:
It lets you choose between playing the PvE part or playing the PvP part, each day.

Why go to this extreme over some forum whining? I see lots of obviously inexperienced players roaming the sewers outside the base every time I go there, and very little zone chat complaining about the occasional ganker or platform exploiter, so I don't see a need to do anything more than put out a fix for the exploit. Do you burn down your house because you found a spider? It's like virtually every other whine topic in the forums. A handful of complainers flood it, while the rest of us learn how to adapt and overcome. Less QQ and more pewpew.

We see that sort of behavior during the Anniversary Event too. Cyrodiil town dailies are relatively quick once you account dor the threat of PVP, so many PVE players come out to Cyrodiil even though they don't have to.

This IC Event, a number of players seem to have chosen to run Imperial City in hopes of getting their tickets quicker than a run of WGT or ICP, even though they don't have to enter PVP.

Midyear Mayhem is the only PVP-exclusive event where players have to enter a PVP zone to get tickets.

I have spent 0 time in IC during this event. I did get some tickets from the dungeon runs. I think i have level 8 from doing bg's. but since i have the barrier i am not so motivated even to do those again. PVP is awful.
