The only cancer in every game ever (I would also extend this into being an issue in real life) are players with the same mindset as you who generalize an entire group of players based on what they find fun. In this instance the fact that you seem to think "the whole pvp crowd" is a cancer. Meanwhile in pve there are also tons of toxic players you can run into.
The problem players aren't associated with PvP or PvE content specifically, but with competitive content.
I would suggest that the requirements that are imposed on people by competitive content, by virtue of how thin the margins for error can be, drive/inspire them to toxic and elitist behaviour. You are always going to get bad apples in every barrel, but I think that by its very nature, competitive content either concentrates those that exist in one place... or takes chilled-out folks and un-chills them.
Humans are competitive by nature.

So you find it humorous that we have pointed out you need to pay more attention since you do not need to do PvP for his event? Or is it humorous Zos edited out the part where you bashed them and called for one of them to be fired?
In reality it as sad because your comments were obviously false to anyone who was aware of what the event was.

Huh. I was wondering why the OPs post was edited. Good catch.

I admitted that several times and even updated the base post to note that. I am sure you never miss things. It was clearly there, but I still missed it.
I did some Imperial City with a spontaeneous zerg group tonight, but ended up with not much for my efforts (except for one achievement for getting so many Tel Var stones at once). Tel Var is lost much too quickly and not earned hardly at all in such groups no matter how many mobs I get significant damage on. I got more running back to leave than I kept above ground in the city. That is definitely unbalanced.
Though the usual PvP players will be glad some of us were unhappy. That may be their only fun in life I suppose.Huh. I was wondering why the OPs post was edited. Good catch.
Not much of a catch since it was already pointed out and acknowledged. I am so glad so many of you here never make an obvious mistake. Watch out that you don't hurt your arm patting yourself on the back so much though!
I know looking down on others is fun too, glad to give you some fun here.
I guess you would also prefer I just ignore correction so you can gloat more?

Getting double Tel Var is not relevant for most of us since it is lost so quickly. One death and you lose most of what you had. That is far too fast if you want to make non-PvPers dip their toes in the water more.
VaranisArano wrote: »If you can't handle PvP game play then all I can say is stay out of it. I see no reason to complain. You can always purchase the event tickets you need and there are other events that are strictly PvE.
Oh we can handle it mighty fine, thank you. I haven't PvPed for years, and I still managed to kill more ganking newbfarmers than they managed to kill me. By a small margin, but still. It's just extremely boring and tedious.
I don't understand the point of this event, really. If it's supposed to make us PvE folks like / enjoy PvP, it fails miserably. If the point is to make us buy the tickets to avoid the event entirely, it might work for some, but personnaly I'm not spending a dime on something I can get for free with just a bit of boredom. But truly, I suspect this kind of crap is what the combat team believes to be fun. If so, that's very, very sad.VaranisArano wrote: »The whole point of Midyear Mayhem is to celebrate all forms of PVP, so I don't find it bothersome that there is no PVE-only method for getting rewards.
But there is ! You have some PvE quests during midyear mayhem. Granted, they are in Cyrodiil, but with proper caution you can take the quest, get to the target and back without ever having to fight anyone. Heck, I even got the Cyrodiil fishing achievement without fighting anyone, ever.
It's another matter en tirely when you must wander through tight hallways and corridors, though. Sure, there are the dungeons, but between the queue and the dungeon itself, not to mention the extremely boring fact that you'll have to repeat the same dungeons every single day, it's much more time-consuming than being ganked a few times on your way to the boss. Frustration VS time lost, that's basically a proper summary of that event.
To me, PVE means there's no threat of PVP. Zones like Auridon or Elsweyr are PVE. Cyrodiil and Imperial City are PVP enabled, so the whole zone is PvPvE. There is no safe PVE in Cyrodiil.
All quests in Cyrodiil are PvPvE, as all of them take place in a PVP enabled zone, as intended. All of them are intended to have PVP as the main source of threat. 3 out of the 5 towns are PVP objectives and the other 2 lie between PVP objectives. Chorrol in particular is a target for scroll trollers.
So no, I don't buy that Cyrodiil has PVE quests. There is no PVE safety while questing. None. Every one of those quests can be interrupted by PVP at any time, hence PvPvE.

Its less unbalanced and more than you chose a very ineffecient way to farm Tel Var.
Tel Var is split between everyone who's attacking the creature. So if you are in a spontaneous zerg, it makes perfect sense that you got very few Tel Var even though you did significant damage to creatures.
Its part of the risk/reward design of IC. Smaller groups get more Tel Var, but always have less strength in numbers.
Moreover, one of the issues with Tel Var farming during this event is that there are predictably a lot of PVPers around! If you can defend yourself, excellent! If not, then yeah, a number of deaths is to be expected.
If you aren't a skilled PVPer, the most effective way to gather Tel Var is to wait dor the event to be over, come back when the population drops, and farm bosses solo or duo.
However, if you really want to farm Tel Var during the event but you arent confident of yiur ability to fight players, here's the best method:
1. Buy Sigils of Imperial Retreat from your home base
2. Go with a small group for some protection and reasonable Tel Var gains. If attacked, stick together and heal proactively.
3. Gather a small amount, up to a couple thousand or so, then use your Sigil and bank your gains.
If you aren't confident of fighting off PVPers, gathering Tel Var during this event is more about slow, but steady gains as you bank often. Later, when the event is over and there are less players around, you can take greaters risks and carry more Tel Var.

I am sure you are right about that. Just ran my "boss kill for tickets" this morning and started off getting ganked by a set of players who thought that was great fun to be had. I waited a while and followed a bunch of others there. I am guessing the gankers either left or hid in a corner with so many people around.
Strong PvPers need to prey on PvEers to feel good about themselves I guess.
I do wonder why the AD has a closer boss kill area when the one in the EP area is much farther away and the boss hits like a truck (in my case at least).

He dont need to be skilled PvPer.
Game is already (with no offense) noob friendly.
I dont get it guys. I never seen a post where pvp players complain that they need to trait infused/divine when grind pve events.
Trials and arena for sets, or just a vet instances.
All i see is PvErs complain that they get smashed in PVP zone.
Even in cyrodil zerg raids, there are few dedicated healers. Mos of the PvPers prefer to dps.So this is PvP weak side- lack of healers. Self heal is good when you wreck non pvp geared newbies, but wont keep you alive vs party of 10.
So why instead of complaining in forums how horid Imp city is, get a grp of 5-10 ppl, rank it with 2 tanks, 2-3 dedicated healers and rest dps. Equip some impen traited gear, put some points in "resistant" and go wreck the imp city?
Is that what you do in PvE right ? Make raids ?So i cant see the problem here.
If you prefer to play solo- its your choise. You have no right to complain, or blame.

Me and this guy, lead this group of 10 deep into the sewers of IC. We all fought off enemy gankers and other enemy groups. We even got a chance to fight Molag Bal and go into an enemy alliances sewers tunnel.
3 hours later when the group disbanded, several of the PvErs commented on how well run the group was, and even though they were not use to dying said they had an amazing time and learned a lot about the PvP community.
This could be you OP, you could have been one of these chill PvErs who we would have welcomed with open arms, trained you how to wield your weapon against another player. But instead you spit on us and kick us in the ribs before you even tried the event.

Have you tried running the dungeons...
Not yet since I finally found it slow enough on the gankers to just kill the close boss (as AD).
I only started doing dungeons recently and the wait for those is quite long in most cases. I need to time it, but 1/2 hour to an hour or more much of the time as DPS. I have a character that could heal or tank, but I don't think I am good enough at that to make someone suffer through it.
I am surprised I have not hit one of these when picking a random dungeon in the time the even has been on. I am doing random dungeons now to get the bonuses and to get the skill points. Works well when I have only done a few, may not be a good strategy later.
