I agree with you. The zone mainline quests, shouldn't have been split. It was used to be a continuation story of 3-4 quests on each area, giving the tone.

Now someone can pop to Auridon, go to Firsthold banishing Estre and go back to find out that she was the traitor.
Or go to help the new Green Lady & The Silvenar to get married, while the old ones are still alive at Khenarthi Roost.
That's the worst decision ever made by ZOS.

    * Cutscenes
    * Unique race personality and animation ( similar to wow and FFXIV)
    * In game rare mounts ( not cash shop )

    Bahahahahahaha UE4... BAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So many people suck this engines dongle like it gives ambrosia. It's a pretty version of unity...

True, UE4 is horrible engine, especially to develop on it with it's C++.
Unity & Frostbite engines are much better, and the latter better optimised.

However the average person playing MMORPGs has a 5+ year old lemon. Those engines need cutting edge graphic cards no more than 2 years old.

This game needs some downtime relaxation. Walk into a bar, it should be a huge area with places to sit, eat animations, drink animations and should be able to talk with PCs and NPCs as well.

Just a fun place to take a break.

    1. Reverse the current trend of every class being able to do the holy trinity. Restore dedicated Tank, Healer and DPS classes, giving each class a specific role.

    2. Separate PvE/PvP balancing. Treating the two factions as one does not work.

    3. Introduce one skill bar, thus doing away with constant bar-swapping. This would also stop the necessity for pets and some abilities to take up two slots. Create a toggle to swap the two weapons equipped.

    4. Rethink the current Guild Trader system and introduce a Global Auction House. One AH in each zone's main city would be sufficient.

    5. Re-balance DOTs and AOEs so that neither is dominant. There is too much bias towards DOTs now.

    6. Upgrade UI to include features such as a proper minimap, minimap and main map features such as skyshard, harvesting nodes and lore book locations, crafting/recipe info windows, and more info on tooltips. This is aimed at reducing the number of addons and thus improving performance.

    7. Add more options to dungeons such as solo and extra hard mode.

These are a few things i would like redone, will add more when I remember them!

Apart from that I love the game generally, especially the sheer amount of stuff to do, and the beauty and variety of the world and its zones.

I would change these things. Part 1 of my list

    1. Server performance
    2. group finder
    3. remove animation cancelling and very slightly lower the GCD
    4. Balance PvE and PvP separately
    5. add highly customizable skill trees for each class and spec besides the abilities already available
    6. Give players the ability to choose between three different difficulty modes of the game with achievements and rewards for completing content in each of them.
    7. Add incentives for being in groups and even higher incentives for being in guilds by introducing a system which encourages activities to be done, maybe even playing together for a common purpose. Basically, each activity completed awards points. If you do a certain activity alone, and are non guilded, you'll get points for completing whichever ones are active each day. After reaching xyz points get you personal rewards of extra gold, and materials needed to craft more powerful items. However, if you are in a group but not guilded you get plus 50% of those same rewards . If you belong to a guild when completing these activities, you'll get the same type of reward but at plus 100%. Each participating character would receive the rewards.
    8. Make all future outfits, and jewelry more customizable, and available for achievements.
    9. less crown store and more in game items, mounts, skins, outfits, pets, ...... which are earnable through gameplay
    10. Let our characters talk forth and back with the npc's in story questlines, and give decisions consequences.
    11. change multi bidding x 10
    part 2 coming soon.

Have a wonderful day all :)

Not going to go into depth but that's not really true. The engine doesn't define how hard it is on the system after a point.
You could make a UE4 version of any potato game. You can also use "old" engines to make really pretty games. Dev skill comes into play more for this than anything.

UE4 isn't horrible it is just the definition of cookiecutter. It has to many tools and modules most groups using it ends up being pushed down very predictable paths and all their products end up in very predictable places. If you use UE4 to make a game more about mechanics and new ideas rather than graphics or cutting edge tech then its actually pretty great. The problem is again that generic nature.

5-year-old hardware is, functionally, almost as powerful for 1-4 cores as modern hardware and as most games only exist on 1-4 cores it rapidly becomes apparent that hardware performance has plateaued. This has mostly been true for the last ten years with performance barely pushing the IPC of new processors for non-workload related tasks. Our demand for graphics has, however, been skyrocketing. Eventually, you hit a wall where hardware can't do what people demand it does. We had this problem back in the 90s but most gamers don't remember that time with clear eyes. Everyone wants pretty.. no one wants to admit hardware isn't scaling as fast as it used to and now creative coding is required for improvements. Things like UE4 make it worse because it gives people the illusion graphics improvements are easy because the FPS market is always the last to feel the limitations of a hardware plateau. At least things like Unity don't try to be cutting edge. They actually are but their purpose and design are more about doing more with fewer people than doing more with more... if that makes any sense :D.

I would do away with class separation so anyone could learn any skills (Elder Scrolls style) which would make PVP complete chaos, and Normal/Veteran toggle would work in all PVE content. That is all.

I would make the housing system more modular and Minecrafty. Id like to be able to pick my location AND pick the architectural style. Yes, a witch’s hut would look a little weird in Wayrest, but still. I’d also allow an option to furnish the whole house later if you initially bought it unfurnished.

    No classes.

    PvP and PvE balanced separately.

Two team battlegrounds with various team sizes and map objectives to split teams up.

Mechanic heavy group PvE content without relying on one shot mechanics.

More open world feel, less theme park.

The biggest change I would make, by far, is separating PvE and PvP. The current system leaves nobody happy, as PvEers keep getting their best skills nerfed because of PvP, while PvPers have to deal with stuff originally designed mostly with PvE in mind messing with the balance of combat in PvP. Give each their proper focus instead of trying to force a mishmash on the two that doesn't really work for either.

I dont disagree with any of these suggestions. Your playstyle is that of a MMO. Unfortunately matt disagrees with this. Prepare for more homogenized abilities and even blurrier lines separating roles aside from dps.

Never played Darkfall (rel 2009) as I went to Age of Conan (rel 2008) for a bit after Shadowbane died down in 2009.

Shadowbane (rel 2003) was great and innovative considering the small budget. Played it for years and had a blast . Would pay a subscription still now to play if it was possible. The dev team was very interactive, solicited regular feedback from the player base, and responded to and corrected imbalances quickly and intelligently. That development philosophy, Guild v Guild, guild cities, and player controlled and instigated wars are what I wish ESO had.

I’m keeping an eye on both Crowfall and Ashes of Creation in hopes at least one can pull of a better performing modern siege warfare mmo that has all those elements.

    - Alliance based PvP in base game zones. I would not ever made anything like Cadwell's Silver/Gold. Ruining the Alliance War plot was a big mistake in my opinion.
New zones added to the game after the vanilla could've been made mutual to all alliances though. But all vanilla zones would have alliance based PvP enabled. It wouldn't lead to gank squads hunting in noob zones, I'm sure, because I've played games that have been made this way. For example, it would be made so if you want to try to gank people in their faction zones you'd have to go through all lands on your feet, no fast travel points available to you in enemy's zones. If you get killed in enemy's zone, you respawn in your alliance zone.
It would require Cyrodiil overhaul as well though, so there would be possibilities to get to the other alliance zone.

    - I would make mounts an in-game reward obtainable through PvP activities and as a rare drop in dungeons/trials.

    - I would make the quest lines which are related to each other one way or another (e.g., same NPCs, events) only available in certain order. And no new starting zone in every new chapter nonsense. It's ridiculous. Very stupid game design.

    - Almost forgot to mention: I would get rid of LA weaving and other AnimCanceling 'features', because it makes dps and overall combat performance strongly dependent on your ping and stability of your Internet connection. It's not acceptable for an MMORPG. Especially for a megaserver MMORPG where people from Oceania and people from Germany have to play at the same server.

So, in addition to the existing problems of the game you would bring in the new one - power creep.
See, never nerf - always buff is a straight way to the power creep, dead outdated content, additional load on servers with increased numbers in calculations, etc. Those who complain about nerfs don't understand what they are talking about most of the time.
