Any other games lag as bad as ESO ?

I've gotten so fed up of it always taking multiple attempts before I can even log on, only then for it to lag pretty much constantly no matter where you are or what you're doing - that after 3 years on ESO+ I've decided I'd had enough and cancelled my subscription, and won't buy anything else in the Crown store until after there's a dramatic improvement in the current state of the game. Don't know where all that money people are paying is going, but it certainly doesn't seem to be going into fixing the game.

PD: i know that the game is from Zenimax.

I play neverwinter, warframe, destiny 1 and 2 during primetime and events and all not even a shred of lag remotely close to none primetime eso and its a total disgrace sometimes i wish games were legally regulated to meet performance standards..

Worst PvP game for sure. But then it’s also the only game I play with this mega server concept. No doubt that at least on the PvP side, dedicated servers would be the way to go.

You really can't compare those games to ESO.

Destiny 1 and 2 use P2P networking for player instances, you aren't connecting to a massive server farm where all players reside. A small number, I think it was limited to 16 when I played, will be in the same instance, hosted on a player's client console or PC. You'll either be connecting to someone else's machine acting as a host, or your machine will act as a host, if you are alone in the instance, you are hosting.

Warframe is also P2P from what I understand so the same caveats apply, you are playing in an instance with very limited numbers of other players. I think Elite Dangerous was able to get somewhere near 100 players in the same instance but these games aren't having all players in the same server farm.

I had to look up NeverWinter, from what I read, it's a bit of a hybrid, it really isn't P2P or a single server. There are player hosted machines that can hold up to 96 players.

Final Fantasy 14 on open world bosses, Eureka and in the 24 player instances would lag quite a bit for me. What made it worse is their occlusion algorithm would start removing objects from your view without regard to proximity which resulted in mobs right next to you becoming invisible yet still able to kill you or players in your group disappearing so you couldn't find them for healing.

As to ESO I don't PvP so will trust in those that do as to how bad it is. In PvE since I upgraded my CPU some of the open world lag I use to see has improved. There are still certain areas that always have a bit of rubberbanding as I go through. I've also determined some of my lag is related to the Firefox session I usually have up while playing. On some websites scripts will tie up the network stack causing ESO to lag. It usually happens on something like a 3 second interval. Moving to another website will not stop it but killing Firefox will. I'm sure it is Firefox problem but just wanted to throw out there other applications might be causing some of the lag players see. At least for PC users.

The only MMO I’ve played with worse lag than ESO was LOTRO.

    https://youtu.be/Fbtrsk9qLxQ

I left LOTRO after eight years as a subscriber. Performance started getting bad in that game when it went F2P and started placing more emphasis on microtransactions. I started playing the game just before Mines of Moria released, when it was arguably at its peak. Such a good game, back then...

ESO’s rapidly approaching LOTRO performance on console. And guess what? Our current focus in this game is the Crown store. Coincidence...?

I haven’t played ESO in a week and a half now. It’s quite refreshing playing other games that don’t look like slideshows...

I have played MMOs since Everquest and ESO is bar far the least reliable game I have ever played. At least you knew with EQ that your dialup was going to hamper you and effect your game play, with ESO someone sneezing in the wrong direction too close to some server cluster seems to break the whole game, its ridiculous.

Not to say it's acceptable for ESO or any game, but... Destiny. Fallout 76. Fable II back when. Mass Effect Andromeda was extra bad considering its funky movement. Runescape if you count that. Bunch of games have or have had terrible lag. And worse than ESO, in my experience, despite even current issues I'm having with lag jumps and the like.

PC - EU - No CP

Cant play for love nor money today, cant swap bar, can't doge, getting CC'd 3 times in a row, hammering the same skil 20 times and it still wont fire.
Its so bad and, now i've logged out cuz' its done my head in.

Anyone know of any other games / "premium games" that Lag like this? i mean, this is seriously detrimental to the health of the game and i've never seen anything like it,
Is this an acceptable standard ?

If i didn't have so many achievements and rl money invested into this server i would move to NA.

You are complaining big time, i play at 150-200 Ping on EU and feel fine. Even if sometime ping reaches to 999 (due to may be my ISP)

I would not let small issues spoil my game play. I believe most of ESO players do same, enjoy more!

Try playing with consistent 500ms like Oceanic and SEA players have to. See this thread? 38 pages. It has ZERO response so good luck to you.

Why are people still paying for eso plus at this point boggles my mind. I haven't had mine for over 6 months and doing just fine and I feel better not giving them any money because zos doesn't deserve it with this horrible performance issues.

I really must be playing a different game than everybody else. ESO has the least lag of any MMO I ever played, outside from some private servers perhaps. STO was the worst.
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

This. So much *** this. You want better performance? Stop giving Zenimax money.

It's like having a child, and they're throwing a tantrum because you won't give them candy, and you tell them off for throwing a tantrum, but you give them candy regardless. You know what they learn? Tantrum = candy.

It's no different with Zenimax. Their goal is to make money. Despite the fact that we're constantly screaming at them about performance, we keep giving them money. You know what Zenimax has learnt over the past 5 years? Ignoring performance issues = money.

So, stop giving them money, and they'll have some incentive to fix the servers, because they'll learn that people won't put up with *** performance.
