    Archeage.

Hope ZoS don't plan to end like AA..

Out of all the issues you could say about archeage you say lag? Never even came close to eso, at least for me. But it did have more problems at its core than eso but at least it functioned correctly. That game is the definition of lost potential, such an amazing game flushed down the gutter by the dev team. I hope it doesnt happen here, we can agree on that.

Anyone played Final Fantasy on ps4? Is it as unstable and laggy as ESO or is it better? I have heard it even got crossplay.

FF14 performs brilliantly on both, PC and PS4. And yes, it has cross-play so no worries if your friends play on the other platform. But you'll be disappointed coming from ESO. There are no loot boxes in FF.

Same here! On PS4 Final Fantasy runs amazingly smooth. I have yet to have a single problem--and there is always a queue to enter the world, but usually takes less than a minute--way less time than I wait in ESO's initial loading screen.

    Elsweyr is awful.

Can't play there - lags and crashes all the time.

Now I've got another problem, which is that my addons have started resetting every time I log off/on (and/or not working at all), so the constant crashing is even more annoying.

I was sick of dying to lag and/or crashing anyway, though, so I've just given up.

The lag is so bad now, you can block and you'd still be blocking 6 seconds after letting go of block Lol.

Or you don't block at all.

listen you younglings, i remember a time when most online games lagged like this!! It was the time when modems made weird noises before you could log in and your parents got angry because they couldn't use the telephone anymore!

    That's OK then.

We can just party like it's 1999.

Cant play for love nor money today, cant swap bar, can't doge, getting CC'd 3 times in a row, hammering the same skil 20 times and it still wont fire.
Its so bad and, now i've logged out cuz' its done my head in.

Anyone know of any other games / "premium games" that Lag like this? i mean, this is seriously detrimental to the health of the game and i've never seen anything like it,
Is this an acceptable standard ?

If i didn't have so many achievements and rl money invested into this server i would move to NA.

Yeah, LOTRO and SWTOR lagged just as bad (even worse).

WoW is really the only game I can remember playing that could handle large scale PvP without significant lag. Which is ironic considering it's one of the oldest games out there.

It is extremely annoying when lag hits you while you're getting "CC'D". Being unable to move on this game is basically an instant death sentence.

This is typically what happens though when a game opens a cash shop and the corporate overlords take over. The priority is no longer to provide the smoothest game experience possible but to make as much profit as possible. Upgrades to their servers are weighed against costs. And considering they probably make most of their money selling reskinned mounts and cute pets sever performance is likely no longer at the top of their priority list.

I've been playing MMO's since Ultima Online. ZOS is the most amateurish and inept dev I've seen. But they still succeed and make bank because a) they have the huge ES name behind them and b) there is almost zero competition (oh, and C) they have become less and less an MMO and more an exercise in monetization - whale hunting). If they didn't have the ES name behind them they would have died. If there were competing against other new, big IP and competently run MMOs they would have been creamed. And if they weren't milking whales like crazy they wouldn't be making so much undeserved cash.

I think those sorts of points are always over-stated. The main reason the game does so well is because most players don't experience the level of problems that get highlighted on this forum, whether it's performance, balancing, skill changes, or failure to get answers to 15 tickets on the same issue etc., most players just enjoy the game and have few significant issues with it. While the players who do have these issues have genuine problems for the most part, they aren't representative of the playerbase as a whole.

Funny then how all 400+ people in my PvP guild experience every one of the issues OP describes. Maybe its just some crazy statistical anomaly that "most" players don't have these problems but all of us that do managed to join the same PvP guild?

    You stole my thunder. :)

Archeage became unplayable in large PvP daily contests because servers could not handle 50+ vs 50+.

I'm not a huge gamer but have played a couple other games and I've been DC'd or lagged out more in ESO than all the other games combined. Terribly low standards set by this dev team. We need a great fix patch or the game's gonna flop hard.

Anyone played Final Fantasy on ps4? Is it as unstable and laggy as ESO or is it better? I have heard it even got crossplay.

Zero lags. Neither did it lag on PS4 nor on PS4 Pro. It was bad on PS3 though but that version is gone.

The only lags I encounter in FFXIV are frame lags but that happens very rarely. The game looks fabulous and runs absolutely smooth.

ESO lag is... a very special kind of lag. It’s almost unique. It’s not just lagging, it’s health desynch, it’s skill delay, it’s massive frame drops and of course the usual lags or unresponsiveness. In PvE honestly who cares. But PvP makes a huge part of this game and it’s just horrible. I don’t wanna know how often I tried to break free and it just didn’t work or how often I was instantly killed because all of the damage I got within several seconds was desynched with my health and then all hit at once. It’s infuriating.

Not odd at all, most players don't focus on PvP, ergo most players don't experience the same level of performance issues that are in the main reported about Cyrodiil.

Weird thing is that I don't get lag but everyone else in my house does when I play even on low. If I go to med no one in the hours can use the internet at all and it's just with this game. Not with multiboxing wow, Warhammer, multiboxing Eve, lotr, d&d online, swtor, rifts, GW2 and a handful of other lesser known games.

I would have to cast my vote for Neverwinter, developed by Cryptic Studios and released by Perfect World Entertainment as being the worst offender of any MMO I've ever played that lags super bad.

The rubberbanding that went on in that game was ridiculous, watch people on their mounts riding around, only to see them rubberband backwards and the same went for pretty much any form of movement in that game.

ESO fps drops and latency isn't good, but I doubt it's the worst on the market compared to other MMO's. I'm not sure if the game was designed to run smother and better on older machines, because it sometimes seems that way.

World of Warcraft had it's issues early on, but those issues at least when dealing with lag were pretty much solved.

ESO is the longest running game that has not fixed lag problems. 100's of players I know have left PVP because of the lag. When you have to cancel the Midyear Mayhem event because the servers can't handle it, something is wrong.

I've been told by people in the gaming industry that it is not possible to fix the lag in ESO.

Why would ZOS care about the quality of gameplay? The majority just play dress up and homemaker. So ZOS makes all their money from cosmetic crap and reskinned mounts from the sheep just buying it all up.

Yep.Most players don't experience the same level of performance.

That's why there's literally a sticked post concerning performance. That's why Midyear Mayhem got cancelled because only a few players were having issues. That's why EU players consider themselves lucky if they can login on the first try. Constant ping surges that leads to kick from the server and NO it's NOT my connection.

Yeah,sure...........no problem at all for the majority.

You know you're not gonna run out of it. So,you shouldn't save your brain for harder boss fight ahead. Use it when you can.
