Also need a key "***". Because you know, there some threads that you can describe only with that button, for example yesterday thread about finding pvp guild, car accident and ten dogs.

Plus you can always just respond to the post by saying it was funny. There doesn't need to be a "lol" option to compliment a post on its humor.

Serously it was fun to use, I know some people used it to pile on some level of ridicule but we are all adults, it really was not that offensive and alot of posts deserve credit for showing a good natured humor.

Given the amount of serial trolls here, there was a reason they took it away. No thanks.

There needs to be a polite way to disagree with someone. Without LOL that is impossible. Many use insightful, but that is even more trollish than LOL.

There is. It's called civil discussion.

What do you mean, ' bring back' ? Are you telling me that people on this Forum are so thin skinned that they couldn't handle LOL in a comment???

    unbelievable

    :#

Yes that is exactly what happened

I get some trolled with it and misused the intent. I do think it was not so bad as to warrant removing it and I miss being able to credit people with a quick reaction for being cleverly humorous, which is how I used it.

I'm very proud of my 250 LOLs badge. I figure a good 125 of them had to be people thinking my jokes were funny, which I genuinely appreciate more than enough to offset any annoyance from some nitwits slapping an LOL on a serious, thoughtful, heartfelt post that they disagreed with.

Thanks to @SirAndy, I've found an old post of mine saying "Can we have a Disagree button?" and it got some LOLs and some Agrees :flushed:

Maybe. But this isn't a nuclear reactor where negative feedback is vital to ensure our survival. It's just a forum board. If someone wants to criticize a post they can simply type a comment and explain why they disagree. That actually encourages discussion and gives someone an argument they can respond to.

The problem when you have negative indicators on a forum is they become tools to troll others with. Posters develop vendettas toward one another over personal differences and resort to"lol"ing each other's comments in an effort to make them look bad regardless of the merits out of pure spite. And don't say that wasn't happening, because I remember back when this board did have these options and that absolutely was happening.

You can't really do that with agree or awesome or even insightful, though some have tried.

Problem is just that threads get flooded with people voicing off without saying anything new. Makes it so that simple affirmations can be made by clicking agree- a nice clean way to express something simple, but every disagreement requires a whole new post that can come off as antagonistic even if it wasn't intended that way.

You make it sound like those are negative qualities.

They are negative - for yourself. I used to be 'soft and sensitive', but it makes for a hard life. You need some toughness and resilience too. Life will hit you with divorce, accidents, cancer, bankruptcy etc. It cares not for your feelings. It will crush you if you're soft and sensitive.

We need not just the LOL button back, for crediting funny posts (of which there are many), but also a disagree button. Apart from writing an (often offensive) disagreement post, there is no other way to simply express....disagree. Often people wish to disagree with another player’s opinion, without necessarily wanting to write a specific post discussing the whole issue.

That would also go towards stopping the misuse of ‘insightful’, which is currently used in a derogatory manner as much as the way it is intended.

Who would DO that??!? ***scurries off to examine insightfuls received***

PS. Agree that a "disagree" button would be nice and might actually help with reducing argumentative and trolling posts on the forum. It would be much more structured to see how many people agree and disagree as opposed to the same one or two opinionated people replying to every comment over and over with a dissenting opinion.

    @Aurelle1
Fun fact, we used to have a "disagree" button, but that was disabled before PC launch.

And yes, i collected a few of those back in my time but you won't be able to read any of those beta threads unless you were part of the Psijic Order beta test group.

I wish there was a "Thank you" button. Sometimes I just want to say that but don't want to make a post about.

But I guess that would then require a "you're welcome" button....and then a "it was no problem" button, and then a "really, though, I appreciate it" button and then a "any time!" button. ...and so on.

    It's a slippery slope.

So why is ‘insightful’ still a thing then.....when we all know that it’s the go-to button for expressing displeasure, derision or general disagreement, more often than its intended use?

A ‘disagree’ option would free up the ‘insightful’ for its proper use, and also make way for the return of the ‘lol’ button....for use in a haha fashion as intended. :)

And at least a disagree button minimizes snark and trolling. It means what it means, just that you disagree, no implied sarcastic insult, just disagree.

ESO rating is M, which means the developer intends this game for 17+.

The fact that some parents are poor in raising thier children should have no impact on how a game intended NOT for children is interacted with or discussed.

Why do so many people have this burning desire to control others behaviors and feelings? It should worry everyone how many poeple these days feel the need to manage other peoples feelings.

The results are usually a self-believed benevolence that is really nothing more than a self rightous imposed moral tyranny.
