Also glad Zos was wise enough to make this set useless for healers and tanks.
It's not useless for healers and tanks, it's a 20 second long debuff. You can most likely make this work on one of the healers if tanks start running orbs there will be bar space for it, and the off tank can also run it and have the bar space for it, it's actually far more suitable on the off tank

So healer can drop 1 skill (orb) and find place for 5 dots they dont use? Arent they DD at that point? :D
    Elemental Wall
    Power of the light
    Ritual of Retribution
    Blazing Spear

That's 4 dot's already in your tool kit that you use lol

Based on how the set seems to work, though, not one of those would actually work. Power of the light isn't a DoT, it's delayed direct damage. This set seems to only work with DoTs that are applied directly to the target, like destructive reach, sould trap, cripple, etc. So none of those AoEs would work.
You can always use reflective light, and entropy, ideally there should be bar space now with some of the changes happening to healing, really don't want to go to a build editor and set something up right now. It's not the end of the world to optimise the group damage like some of the replies in here seem to be against for whatever reason. I personally think it would be best to run it on the off tank, especially for sunspire.

So, here's the issue. You're right, no problem with optimizing group DPS.

However, each enemy can only be effected by one Zen's at a time. And with a Zen effect on them, whoever applied the effect must then supply ALL FIVE of the damage over time effects in order to reach the max damage increase. A healer running it with just two dots wouldn't cut it, and I'm not sure I can think of an effective tanking setup that would use 5 DoTs and still be considered a "tank".

The whole point of this thread was to thank Zeni for making a support set that is most effective on a DPS, which it is. Any DoT based magicka DPS (i.e. p much all of them) can run this set at no cost to themselves in terms of skill choice or rotation, and increase the entire group's damage.

EDIT: So, if I went destro back bar reserving one slot to blockade and one slot to drain. I could use clench, soul trap, and degeneration on back bar. Front bar Vampires Bane/Reflective Light and Scalding Rune. That leaves exactly three slots for heals. No slots for spears, since you'll likely be going Orb/Springs/Healing Ritual in trials now. It isn't exactly a viable healing setup, and is more like a hybrid dps at that point.

EDITv2: On your point as an off-tank, the only tank I can think of, since AoE DoTs don't count and SnB has no DoTs, would be a DK having burning embers and engulfing flames on your front-bar, clench, degeneration, and soul trap on your back-bar. But again, would be much less effective as an actual tank and would start edging more into a dps role.

I'm pretty sure Zos could release a set that buffed group dps by 2% but required the user to wear only light armor and dps jocks would still be like ok tank, time to strip! We need those hawt boss parses for our trophy case. Its not the end of the world for one dps to lose a little damage to buff the whole group either. Youre not asking for optimization youre asking tanks and healers to compromise their ability to do their job so you can get a slightly higher parse. Try eating a dragon breath with alkosh and torag or healing an ice tomb with hircine or ebon on. We dont need more dps sets forced on us. Thats why your queue times suck...

@ZOS_GinaBruno Still no fix for this set? Would be great to be able to test it on PTS before Scalebreaker goes live :)

Pretty disappointed that the set effect was cut in half today. Not sure why the Magicka DPS group buff set cannot be as powerful as the Stamina DPS buff set (Alkosh). At maximum 5% damage taken (4% DPS since additive with other debuffs), this is now only about 2/3 as effective as Alkosh (around 6% group DPS) AND only applies to a single enemy, while being more difficult to use.

If the effect was determined to be too strong with a maximum of 10%, maybe it could have been changed to 2% per DoT capped at 3 or 4 DoTs (so theoretical 6-8% damage, or about 4.5-6% actual group DPS gain against a single enemy, after ramp-up with perfect uptime). This would make the set a little more user-friendly to match its reduced power cap. I’m also not clear on how it was determined that the set was too powerful, since nobody has been able to test it on PTS, and any uptime estimates were purely guesses.

That's Zos for you, blindfolded throwing darts at water balloons that don't exist.
