In my circle we are kind of disgruntled. But we're also kind of used to being screwed over. We're starting to question this relationship and wonder if ZOS ever actually loved us or if they just love the *idea* of us.

You will note that every whine post about patch will include the word friends usually preceded by "many".

Dont understand why people like this plays MMOs . . . .

But yeah, I agree with the one person before be saying we are too busy cussing out the terrible game performance and currently laughing at the patch notes. Firstly over it's leak and rushed relevance without an open PTS too test the doom and gloom leading too more uncertainties. Then getting lead developer's comment that basically say "We are now forcing you too play this way" is truly a distasteful... and is most likely what will drive at least me from the game, wont speak for the friends I've made in game of course, that's their choice.

When and where was that said?

On topic, the consensus seems to be "here we go again." Mostly uneasy, perhaps cautious? Like when your 13 year old tells you that they're going to make you diner and your expections lie somewhere between a peanut and butter sandwich or burnt pizza.

    Heyo gang!

We wanted to quickly provide some additional context for many of the combat changes in this update so that everyone has a better idea of our goals.

In Update 23 our main focus was to ensure there was an ultimate point of reference for abilities to properly match up against one another in their respective categories. This provides us with a solid baseline, where all abilities fit within a set of standards/power levels and allows future balancing passes to be much easier and timely.

We're aware that some content has been designed around old functionality of abilities that existed beyond our standards and might need some sort of compromise in regards to how you engage with it and/or how we balance it. This is something we will be watching closely, however we are not averse to the idea that players might need to adjust their current builds such as running more defensive Ultimates rather than offensive ones, or running more survival enhancing sets, rather than pure damage or buff oriented ones. Please also remember that we've introduced some new abilities to help offset the loss of things such as Healing Springs stacking, with abilities like Ring of Preservation, or the large increase to Cleansing Ritual.

As always, we will be monitoring feedback about all the balance changes during this PTS cycle, however we wanted to let everyone know that in a future PTS patch, the synergy from Orbs will not cause the Orb to vanish and can be activated multiple times by anyone not on synergy cool down.
    Cleared Trials:
    - vAA HM - vHRC HM - vSO HM - vMoL HM - vHoF HM - vAS HM - vCR HM -

Some think the changes were long overdue and will improve the game.

My group that did vtrials has had chunks move on to Minecraft, of all things, along with Don’t Starve, little single player one-offs, Outward

No one is happy about the massive shakeup all the time. My healers friends especially are fed up, as am I. I hit my limit in this nonsense about a month ago, they’re hitting their’s right now.

I don't know anyone who is happy about these changes. Some may be resigned, but fairly disgusted overall. The thing is, people invest time and effort from their lives to develop a play style that provides a source of entertainment. When this gets upended by developers who appear solely devoted to abstract concepts about balance and vision, don't seem to give a damn about user experience, and feel it is their place to dictate how we should adjust and play, it just lays fertile ground for growing discontent. Personally, ever since Summerset, new content just feels like an uninspired remake of the same things we've been doing for years. Then you throw in a combat team who seems content to pull the rug out from beneath the things you've come to enjoy, it just makes me feel more and more that there are better ways to entertain myself. I haven't quit yet, but I'm not experiencing anything that would change course from what feels like an inevitable departure from this game.

    Super mixed reviews/reactions.

Some are freaking out completely and rolling new toons in anticipation, but panicking over whether or not those will be nerfed too.

Some are getting super weird and vehemently or even almost furiously/angrily defending the changes and coming unglued at every comment made against the changes. They're like the battered wife who screams at and then dumps her friends because they just don't understand that he's really a great guy and she deserved to...ummm...run into that cabinet.

The majority of us are rolling our eyes and feeling defeated and resigned to yet another "patch" cycle with more unnecessary changes to the very skills which enabled us to play through the breathtaking avalanche of bugs, more shiny new game breaking overpowered sets, and absolutely ZERO fixes to the real problems that plague this game. None. Like, who gives a spit about the wording of some stupid lorebook? Seriously? The trials are nearly all broken and bugged to high heavens, and PvP is a hot mess of freezes, lag, bugs, poorly implemented coding, and disconnects, and the entire game is a stuttering lagging mess. We've all started cancelling our subs and are just playing through what we can until we find out what they're pushing live so we can see if it's worth staying or finding a new hobby.

It's not the end of the world, obviously, since it's just a video game, but it's still pretty disappointing that something we enjoy so much and invested so much time in is falling into such disarray. C'est la vie.

Most of my friends are happy. Especially for the PvP aspect. Our go to healer says she’ll just adjust. I have a few who threaten leaving but they do every patch when’s something doesn’t go to their favor. Over all most of us are excited and can’t wait for the rest of the patch note passes.

We’ve been pretty vocal about the healing changes aspect and hope they will revert or at least make healing springs more appealing.

We’ve also been vocal about the cast times on certain ultimates making the flow of the game too clunky.

We’ve also pointed out some weird bugs.

Outside of that the DDs dislike some of the changes but most have already compensated and are hitting relatively close to what they used to hit.

Let’s not forget there’s still weeks before this goes live so a lot can change. Keep in mind if you can present to the devs a logical argument (although it’s often a long shot) they do revert changes from time to time. Get on the PTS and test.

People that I know who have been on the fence about ESO, actually canceled their subs. But these are people who have played since beta, like myself, and I think that it just gets to the point where you get tired of reinventing the wheel all the time. Prob just too much at once. I have also changed my playing habits, and prob will cancel my sub, but still check in. I

    Okay, just kidding.

In all honesty, there has been a lot of pessimism around the PTS notes and upcoming patch.

Man, you stole everything I was gonna say. Gary’s line from Bully popped into my head as soon as I saw the word friends. Dude you rock!

Well none of them have subs because of performance and many of them are quitting calling it taking a break. The better the player the more adamant they are about taking a break, particularly the ones who play more than one class at a high level. Nerfing certain sets they’ve gotten gold ain’t helping.

The newer players I’ve become friends with are oblivious. They’re all excited about crown store crap.

Friends? I have no friends, in game at least, not really. Personally though I'm genuinely excited about the changes, I'm not a huge fan of zerg everything gameplay. Don't get me wrong, that strat should have it's place among the top of the top groups, I still remember when my FFXI linkshell was first able to start using the burn method on Shadowlord rather than chainstuning him, it was awesome, it felt like we'd crossed over from being a very good group to one of the elite, but for that to be basically the entry level strat for all content makes the game feel like it's severely lacking in core elements of combat and build progression, it's a major flaw IMO and hopefully these changes will fix that.

Overall my biggest gripe with the game so far has been lack of any significant challenge and that's what this patch seems to be focused on, so that's a step in the right direction to me.

I think most of the changes are good, but the damage shield nerfs are way too extreme. Here are some of the GOOD changes:

    1) Buffs to solo healing
    2) Nerfs to zerg healing.
    3) Lots of new single target DOTs.
    4) Undaunted line in Crown Store.
    5) Standardization of abilities' damage, healing etc.

Well unlike the forums most of my friends aren't running vCR +3 HM every night so they're less pessimistic.

But its still a bit of a downer, its more annoying really that we now will be slower at killing trash which is in reality just a time gate to bosses. So it'll be more boring, especially trash heavy fights like MoL and SO.

At this point we're all used to adjusting our builds so that part isn't an issue.

The real problem with ZOS is that the game is like what 4 1/2 years old give or take and now they are changing abilities that have been something we know and used all this time and now it will be something else, hey ZOS, just Stop...

for example, Flying Blade from the Dual Wield line, it has been a spammable damage with Major Brutality when it's cast, so last patch the Snare gets removed ok that's not bad, but now it's going to be a What?? a Utility skill ? Huh...after 4 1/2 years...Um ZOS, hello??? and now the Nightblade's Power Extraction removes Weapon damage from the opponent ??? um OK what if the enemy is a Magick user...maybe you forgot to add "will remove 300 weapon and spell damage to opponents hit for 8 sec's"

BDO is coming to PS4 on 8-20-19, I guess I'll be looking into playing that until they, ZOS, start getting their "Stuff" together..

this whale, yup I am, will start looking in an other direction soon. Now let me explain something, I have been with this game since it had early access on PC, then moved my characters to PS4 and spend a lot of money on this game, this week alone I spent about $400 easily. and now they just keep touching stuff and changing key game abilities, or sets (shield breaker) and other things.... over and over and over.. and it's really starting to *** me off.. keep it up zos and you might start to run out of hardcore players...

I main a healer and am currently teaching a PvPer how to PvE heal. We're both scouting out new games depending on how these patch notes go. All but one vocal member of my guilds are disgusted, and some other members are considering quitting. Too many of us are just tired of constantly remaking and relearning characters, and butchering heals was the most bizarre move ZOS has made in awhile.

I lost many friends during Morrowind, and unless they backpedal quite a bit I see myself losing more :(
