What has the reaction to the patch been among you and your friends?

I am really curious what everyone is seeing among their friends and communities as the reaction to the PTS patch. I mostly do PVE and trading and occasional PVP in Cyrodiil and I have a good handle how my immediate friends are reacting but I am honestly curious how more hardcore PVPers, or RPers or even the wider PVE community feel about it.

I'll be honest, myself and many of my friends are frustrated. All of us are experianced players, none of them have been playing less than a year and some of them since beta. Even though we've still got weeks before this goes live many of us logged in yesterday and didn't even really play. It feels kind of pointless at the moment, instead we all just chatted about what we hate about the patch, specifically the PVE stuff.

All non templar healers are at a serious disadvantage, and even the templars will be way less able to heal. Dps is going to take a huge hit based on some of the pts parses we were discussing. Dungeons and play in general will be much slower, and well, less fun. Who wants to grind through dungeons we used to burn through?

We all have serious doubts about the direction things are going with game design and unfortunately don't really have enough information about their intentions to cause less worry.

The changes have all of us bummed and not really wanting to play much. People are already discussing whether or not its worth it to adapt to the changes or find something else for a while, or even just walk away from ESO.

I love my friends and the community we have in ESO and I hate that this patch has so many changes that people are wondering whether its worth it. I'm really curious whether my group is taking it a bit harder than others or this is a wider thing in the PVE community? Im also curious, if you like the changes, why? Are you primarily PVE or PVP?

Some confusion, some exciting parts. From a solo/small group PvP perspective there's a lot of good stuff. When we talk about guild raids there's more planning to do and some things to try when it comes to console.
No doom and gloom, but it's a dramatic departure from the norm.

Me and my friends just look closely to the change.
I participate myself in various thread to try to point out some thing to dev (I try at least).
But atm we're already working on new build to adapt.
As NB heal I still struggle to heavy dmg phase tbh, can't find solution for that.

Just had my two main in game buddies message me today telling me they are coming over to WoW with me. Agreed on the nerf issues and characters constantly feeling weaker, us having to adapt way too often to the blanket changes they make. We have fun wherever we go. Sucks that it won't be here though. Is what it is.

    Okay, just kidding.

In all honesty, there has been a lot of pessimism around the PTS notes and upcoming patch.

Horrified! Too many changes, too many nerfs across the board. Granted a few changes are probably needed for balance but most seem just way over the top! Sword and board--just not worth playing now--period. I wish ZOS would just quit screwing so much with the abilities and classes and just fix the bugs and lag. Looking at you rubber-banding unlootable corpses and the pretty screen shot that pops up right in the middle of a fight in Cyrodiil! Oh and loooong load screens! I have been playing now for over 2 years and it seem 1 step forward, 2 steps back over and over.

Me and my friends stopped playing less and less some time after Summerset, then when Murkmire came around most quit with the shield changes.... Now? We play other games.

Warframe is constantly bringing out new things, for free, and it's free to play. Monster Hunter World is always fun, and a new large expansion is coming out in a few months along with a Summer event this weekend. Ark: Survival Evolved recently released a free new map and creature along with it, and is having a Summer event atm.

ESO on the other hand is like an abusive ex. And just like my ex, I'm done with it.

Only reaction I've seen outside of this forum is people advising me to check out the patch notes before deciding on sets etc. for my first set of CP160 gear, and a few comments along the lines of "that will be interesting".

No one I've seen talking about it in-game seems especially worried, it seems to be considered just another balance update - some good changes, some bad, some irrelevant, you adapt your build and carry on. It's only on this forum that it seems like the sky is falling, the entire game is doomed and everyone's day is ruined. But to be honest that's also the same as every other balance update.

Seems fine and in line with their ability audit. There’s way too much power in the game and even these measures will barely rein it in.

I really do not understand why people who gave stopped playing the game (for whatever reason) still hang around the forums & post about how rubbish the game is and how we should all quit it & go play something else like they wisely did.....why?

It’s just really, really sad that rather than feeling EXCITED about new content being added to the game I love, I’m consistently DREADING the nerfs to my character.

MagSorcs wearing Plague Doctor for solo play (vMA) due to previous shield nerfs was just ridiculous. Now, even that insanity gets nerfed. Shields are going to be weaker and cost more. W. T. F.

    It’s exhausting.

    And disappointing.

Most of my friends are smart enough to realize that the initial PTS patch notes are rarely how things look in the end. Furthermore, every time there are big changes or 'nerfs', guess what? People adapt and the game rolls on. ZOS doesn't intentionally tune the game so people can't finish content, that's nonsense.

The only thing I will say is that myself and others don't like the concept of tamping down on heals/dps when you put in "DPS Check" bosses like Yolnakriin, for example.

Not jumping to conclusions.. We have a whole PTS to hear about how things will be as some changes trickle in. I do think ZOS wont change too much to what has been shared...imo.

You captured my feelings on this better than I could have said it.

My guild is pretty small but the consensus among PVE players was that we were all pretty sick of having to redo builds and relearn classes. Several of us are losing interest in the game. It's said because the steady flow of new content should have us hyped for what's coming, but this is overwhelmed by dreading the changes.

Dont understand why people like this plays MMOs . . . .

But yeah, I agree with the one person before be saying we are too busy cussing out the terrible game performance and currently laughing at the patch notes. Firstly over it's leak and rushed relevance without an open PTS too test the doom and gloom leading too more uncertainties. Then getting lead developer's comment that basically say "We are now forcing you too play this way" is truly a distasteful... and is most likely what will drive at least me from the game, wont speak for the friends I've made in game of course, that's their choice.

Me and most of the people in my guilds are pretty bummed to say the least about most of these changes. Sure there are things to look forward to IF they go live, like Blastbones' delay being removed and Undaunted Keys no longer clogging inventory, but if a lot of this goes live (and let's face it, how often does what's listed in the PTS patch notes get drastically changed before hitting live?), it will ruin a lot of our builds. So many things being changed and gutted all at once like this, ugh.
