Fang Lair HM. Or, as I like to call it; "that thing that scares everyone into complete silence."

Seriously, on PS4 EU, why is everyone so terrified of this place!? I organize a vMoL run, no problem. Other vet DLC? "Sure thing pal! Love to help!" Black-flipping-rose prison. "Gear sucks there, but sure! SOUNDS FUN." As soon as I mention Fang Lair HM.

Crickets.
Silence.
Someone even left the guild I posted it in once.
4 guilds and not a single peep.

What have I got to do to get people into that damn thing? Do you want gold? Crowns? My limbs? Gratuitous pictures of my Bosmer? Someone, please just tell me what I gotta do to get people to run this damn thing so I can put that stupid skeleton dragon and that smug necro pleb man behind me. /rant

    I don't even remember what the HM mechanics are in there. I think its just DLCitis, everyone is afraid of the HMs in recent dlc dungeons, ever since Horns of the Reach.

    It's probably because anyone who has done it can see how easily that fight gets out of hand. I still think vSCP is a tougher hm but between the lag the game has been having and the frustration of the amount of insta kills in there it can be hard to find groups willing to go stick with it.

    Hardmode literally only has 3 mechanics that matter (4 for tank). Keep moving and it's easy.

    @IonicKai totally get what you are saying. It just sucks that, because I only started doing vet DLC dungeons a short time ago, I feel like I'm locked out of doing the older dungeons and getting achievements. It isn't theough lack of recruiting either. However, I am being careful to avoid becoming a pest and spamming chats.

    You probably need better guilds. I like this dungeon and I even think the hardmode is not that hard, but I still wouldn't go with randoms.

    Right now there is another problem with this dungeon. There are lots of telegraphed mechanics, but the game's performance gone south since Elsweyr, so the telegraphed area does not match. It shows something but it kills you right away. Recovery from death in this dungeon is hard. Dying because of game's bug is not fun and running this dungeon now is not fun either. You don't make any mistake yet you still die. How fun is that?

    The same problem occurs in vSS HM. The trial is nice, but it's bull to progress it right now. Broken telegraphed AOE. Terrible.

    Almost tanked it in an guild run, my mistake was agroing all the adds so I did not see the boss attack.

    Problem is, you do vet dlc HM for achievement so you poke around to see if other is interested.

    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    It’s most certainly not easy. ZOS went nuts with one-shot-insta-death mechanics lately which makes it very unforgiving...much like Frostvault. I won’t do it again except to help a select few guildies get the achievement.

    @LukosCreyden I feel for you. The trick is going to be finding so like minded players that want to run through and get stuff. There has been a bit of a surge of people wanting that personality now that necro class is a thing so just keep hunting. You might want to try to find a guild that does vet trials and work with them to try to get a dungeon group for it.

    Fang Lair HM is annoying because all it takes is one death to screw everyone over. If a dps dies and the survivng dps doesn't have the burn to kill a colossus when it's up, you're screwed because it's gonna go after the tank at some point, and the tank can't deal with the boss and the colossus at the same time. The aoe that pops up under player bodies when down also makes trying to revive them risky because while you're trying to deal with it, you might get hit by a ghost wall. I've seen too many people make dumb mistakes on that hardmode.

    As a lot have said above, Fang HM is tough. I have cleared it exactly one time with my group. Have been back many times since to try and help others and it really needs to be treated like a mini-progression trial. The group I run with has also cleared every other HM multiple times.

    It's the third phase after merge that is particularly brutal. Several stacked mechanics that are essentially all one shots if missed and heavy rng with where the gaps in the ghost wall occur. One ill placed poison pool where the gap is and it's usually over. Or my personal favorite is the golden circle that you need to get to wonderfully spawns right in the middle of the poison pool. Let's see, don't get the gold circle and die or do get the gold circle and die.

    Of all the DLC HMs, this one is one of, if not the toughest. IMO

    It’s extremely bugged right now. The last boss knockback will hit you outside of the telegraph, which leads to death by ghosts. Could be why nobody wants to run it at the moment.

    Its because of the telegraph issue for Cone attacks (which the last boss has a lot of) and General AoE issues as well. This is widespread across the game right now across all content. Every cone and AoE attack is bugging out and its not consistent so its not predictable making it very hard to complete or beat specific things because your progress is destroyed in the blink of an eye as you never know whether you're outside of the AoEs and cones or not (even though you are clearly outside of it in most instances, the triple cone the dragon does in Fang Lair HM has this issue. The consistent ghosts in the final phase of hardmode are also extremely buggy right now making it impossible to complete unless you're very lucky because it either bugs out or it doesn't its very RNG right now) They can sometimes kill you even when you're in the "safe gaps".

    The boss also happens to disappear and re-appear seemingly at random at the beginning of the fight this can last anywhere between 10 seconds and 1 minute depending on how quick the tank is engaging the fight. I think a work around for it is to start with puncture instead of inner fire but I am unsure if its actually anything to do with the taunts and how the boss interacts with combat starting but it seemed to work off and on when we did it.

    I really hope more people check that thread out because more people need to be made aware of just how bad it is because it isn't players failing content right now its the game failing the players.

    it was. Scarabs were nerfed a few months back i believe. Still definitely lightyears past scalecaller hm in terms of difficulty. I think still harder than the new ones. So it's still true. but it has been nerfed pretty consistently.

    Vet Scallcaller with pugs I needed to get my Zaan helm and pugging it was impossible I spent like 8 hours with 13 different groups and I never got past the second boss even with a coordinated guild group Vet was still hard luckily I got a light helm I needed 1st try and I never went back since.

    Its just so long... I can do it on normal mode for completion but I would only do hm with a group I knew had it in them. Dungeons just have a way of being incredibly drawn out if you arent prepared. Fang lair being one of the worse offenders up there with moon hunters, falkreath and scalecaller.

    jeah pretty weak now.

    was rolled into a random normal run on mondays and got FL...
    66% and 15% of the dmg came from me (jeah jeah fanketank pleb I know :P )and my healer who just provided synergies.
    and it was a steamroll, mechanics do not matter at all on normal...and the other 2 dudes just got a free carry.

    havent been in FL on vet for months, but since everybody says its way too overnerfed i might give it a shot for tripple achievement and some other missing achievements.

    I can't even bribe my own guild to do a vMoL run, while we do like 5 vSS run a week xD Nobody needs anything from vMoL anymore, but me, who decided a bit late I wanted to play tank.

    @SaintSubwayy Normal mode has always been cake. Vet isn't much more difficult. We are talking about Vet HM. That is a very different story.

    It's the current state of the game too. Any other time? I'd go there just for fun, I like Fang Lair. Around those weeks? Thanks, I'm not having a lot of fun being hit by invisible ice AoEs and thrown straight into ghost walls. Broken telegraphs all over the game make me feel much less compelled to run any harder content lately, I'm waiting out for the time when I won't be forced to invent crooked bug-oriented tactics needlessly.
