In light of our ongoing work to improve game performance and the Activity Finder, we are holding the Midyear Mayhem event until next year to ensure that the player experience is a good one. In its place, we are moving forward the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood Celebration Event, which will run from July 2 to July 15, and will give players the chance to earn the Event Tickets needed to start the Onyx Indrik mount evolution.

    Important info:

As you participate in the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood Celebration, you can earn Event Tickets for the following activities:

One Event Ticket for the first Sacrament completed each day
Sacraments are unlocked by reaching Dark Brotherhood Rank 2 and completing the quest “A Lesson in Silence”

One Event Ticket for the first Heist completed each day
Heists are unlocked by reaching Thieves Guild Rank 3 and completing the quest “The Long Game”

My advice: don't wait to start your criminal career until the event starts. Get those dailies unlocked now.

To be fair, having 1/3rd of PVP content + some of the achievements having major groupfinder issues is a solid reason to delay.

The only event PvPers get and the only one I look forward to gone. Very considerate. Bet Crown Crates and Crown Store items won’t be delayed.

Very true. Since their announcement after last years fiasco I thought there had been a dungeon related event that did not specifically require the GF? Maybe I am thinking of dailies with the pledges but I thought it was more than that.

    Here’s some ideas

    1. Have the golden appear with the jewellery like it does during previous Mid Year events, reduce the cost in AP by 50%

    2. Have double Tel Var

    3. Give out reward boxes OR double AP so it isn’t as appealing and so there’s not so much of a server overload

    4. Have the event in certain campaigns but also have event free ones so people can choose

Midyear Mayhem is a no win situation.

    Have it?

Battlegrounds is required for 100% completion of the achievements. BGs are an important part of PVP. Battlegrounds groupfinder is seriously bugged and ZOS knows it. So having the event is a recipe for frustration.

And, let's be honest, the Cyrodiil campaigns don't handle it well, AND you'd be having it while people are still struggling with the odd faction locking that happened this month.

    Don't have it?

All the PVPers are annoyed because they don't get their event.

    Best solution?
    Fix BG groupfinder fast.
Make faction locking clear and work as intended at the end of campaigns.
    Then have Midyear Mayhem.

It is very clear at this point that zenimax has designated PVP as a dead portion of their game, and one that is not profitable enough to invest any resources into. You just cited an article about "EU server performance" as the reason you're cancelling THE ONLY PVP EVENT OF THE ENTIRE YEAR. There is no "ongoing effort to improve performance", you haven't even formulated a plan on how to address it yet because you don't care. After all, the most profitable portions of the playerbase are the cosmetic and housing enthusiasts, right?

This is pathetic. If you were so worried about the BG queue finder not working, THE ONLY PORTION OF THE EVENT THAT WOULD BE AFFECTED ACCORDING TO YOUR CITED SOURCE, you could leave the double AP modifier to cyrodiil and IC only.

    *** off zenimax.

Or just remove lock and done. bg’s Made a small portion of the event anyways, especially when they opened up 4 newer campaigns.

Personally I'm sad that we're skipping Midyear Mayhem because for the most part I've really enjoyed that event in the past (even though I'm not a regular PVPer), but I understand not wanting to have it when such an integral part of it is broken, especially with the player population being as high as it has been over the past ~6 months. If we're seeing issues now, just imagine how amplified they'd be with an event sending all kinds of people who don't usually PVP into PVPland.

I personally happen to really like the Thieves Guild & Dark Brotherhood event as well, because I like doing heists and sacraments (they're really easy with the right gear and a bit of practice), so for me it's a nice replacement for Midyear Mayhem. At the same time I really hope that they make the needed fixes to the group finder quickly, sort out the faction lock stuff, and hopefully work more on general performance issues, and then give us Midyear Mayhem a bit later in the year when those things are in a better state than they are currently.

They should be exposed for how terrible it actually is. They didn't even acknowledge the unplayability in cyrodiil as the reason for canceling the event, they're scapegoating the BG queue finder as the issue and once again pretending that the unplayability in open world is not really a problem. In typical fashion, they are literally spitting in the faces of PVP players while completely disregarding the biggest issues.

This event should run so they have no choice but to acknowledge how terrible their game actually is.

The only pvp event of the year is getting cancelled because of an issue that doesn't even affect open world pvp (the activity finder)? The performance has been an issue since forever and that never stopped you from doing the event. Nice, great to be a pvp player in this game, always getting so much love from the devs. But hey, at least we can do some thieves guild and dark brotherhood rp!

This is going to be a disaster with the game's current performance. The entire server is going to crowd Hew's Bane and Gold Coast for 2 weeks, making it virtually impossible for any player to quest in either zone, a lot of which requires being in cities - the source of the lag. You've done nothing to address the server issues so players can expect to spend most of their time in front of a loading screen. Also, telling PvP players that you are going to continue to ignore them for the rest of the YEAR is a pretty stupid move - those players might as well leave now and spend their money elsewhere.

Great PR, ZoS - don't just alienate PvE players with trash performance during their repetitive event, make sure EVERYONE is screwed over, lol.

And this is a proof that people are just moaning and complaining, reasons not needed.

Sarah said clearly why it was postponed and with some good thoughts.

If they didn't postpone it, people would complain - ur PVP servers r trash, u suck, the game can't run normal times gl with event, LOL, OMEGALUL - and similar, highly intelligent replies.

When they postponed it with 2 good reasons people still complain - you don't care for PVP, thank you zos for nothing!!!1! cancelling my sub!1!! etc.

ZOS routinely shafts the PVP community so canceling the Midyear Mayhem event is not surprising. Performance issues are never addressed. Balance issues are never addressed. Massive skill problems (ala Necro Bash) are never addressed. You simply become numb to it all. It’s the ESO version of Stockholm Syndrome. Or maybe Shornhelm Syndrome? Or the Cropsford Contagion!

We play PvP because the game has fantastic PvP mechanics. Arguable the best out there. But the people that run the game screw us over because they don’t give a **** like you said. Sad that a game this good is screwed over by pure incompetence

Why this event though? Out of all the ones you could pick you chose the one nobody likes.

Also wait does this mean y'all will be cancelling the undaunted event too then? Because it tends to rely on the buggy af group finder as well. We all know how great it's behaved previously.
