Checking forums after a long working day, starting downloading the new expansion and browsing through the world-first post on the ESO forum.
Wouldn't it be more of a competition if the trial is downloadable a month before, and then officially opened during live?
I will certainly not participate in this by playing day and night (I just don't care personally because I got other things to do) but for those who have no fast internet connection or are actually working seriously during the day - and do care - would certainly appreciate a more controlled start of the 'race'.

Of course it should be. But no one cares about that, and if you dare question that, then you're an envious hating pleb who can't get past 5k DPS... In the eyes of weirdos.kathandira wrote: »kathandira wrote: »Hey guys;)

Thanks to everyone who helped us out in the last weeks and thanks alot to Magic and Masing for helping us to fill 12 people in the beginning because our download speed sucks
Thanks to Hodor for the race, was great fun
Greetings from everyone at Unchained Animals
Did ya'll prep on the PTS before doing it live?
Yes like most progress raidgroups we tested the trial on pts
Hmm. Not sure I feel that should qualify then. Wouldn't the completion on the PTS be the actual world first?

Then all the bugs uncovered in PTS would be release into live and set back the numerous guilds who will still be progressing this trial for months to come by that much longer. There's nothing wrong with doing the trial on PTS, people just use it as an excuse because they can't invest as much time in the game as others or simply aren't as skilled as others. Neither of which there is anything wrong with.

What I said is certainly doable with sufficient internal testing.
It would be really interesting to see the real time and effort a group requires to learn the mechanics and finally beat the trial, from a well-defined start date, for example on a weekend, where everyone is on equal terms and no one knows what to expect.

My thoughts exactly, when I saw the thread and the poster I was like "wait, Baumlaus is in Hodor now??" :Congrats HOD... Wait what?
WOW also does this, or at least did. Its an famous story of an player getting an one shot to kill weapon from an gamemaster by an mistake. It was not bound for some reason. Player showed it to another who borrowed it.IwakuraLain42 wrote: »DjMuscleboy02 wrote: »Checking forums after a long working day, starting downloading the new expansion and browsing through the world-first post on the ESO forum.

Pretty much this. That's actually what other games like Destiny or FF14 do. They test their stuff internally, don't put the raids on the test servers and release them simultaneously on all platforms, usually after a grace period to allow all players to catch up to changes first.
So, while quite and achievement, the title "first world clear" is pretty much hollow in ESO.

You know, I never knew that.Vercingetorix wrote: »The only "world first clear" that has ever mattered is on consoles because unlike the PC groups we don't get to see the answer sheet before the test. Any group on consoles that clears the trial quickly after release doesn't have the benefit of practicing beforehand and their win is all the more meaningful (provided the individuals in question care about such frivolous things like that).
