That's the thing though. You *do* get something to signify such a difficult accomplishment. That doesn't mean others don't deserve to have something decent for financially supporting the game in the long run.

Sure, your voice does count when it comes to how they design some hard content, but who is going to fund that vision? You can argue eso sub+ and crown sales, but the EU servers are proof this game is expanding in population, and with that comes lags, disconnects, and many other unforeseen, unexpected technical issues. Scores and leader-boards aren't going to fix that. They don't fill the bellies of experts who can be hired to find bugs, troubleshoot problems, and design solutions to performance problems.

In the end, ZOS took all this into account when they made the mount be available both as an achievement, and as a crown store item.

The only people complaining about this, are those who would add at craglon zone chat:

Uh... in the unlikely event anyone could do the carry necessary for this mount, it would probably be more like 1B+ gold...

I'm not sure if I'm blind but what the hell is the difference between these 2? o.O One might have slightly darker or brighter colors, that's it.

I can see why ZoS would want those who just never do trials to be able to get this mount as well. But, couldn't they get some sort of reskin? Usually I hate reskins it feels boring. Unless it's some epic skin. In this case however I'd consider it.

This also isn't fair to those who work their butts off to do the trial and get the mount the hard way. Like "Woho we conquered the newest trial in hardmode, got the no death achievement and the mount yay! Oh look...someone else bought the almost identical mount from the store. Oohh...yay???" Uchum....

I wonder if one of the issues is... well... how many other (kinds of) mounts are available from in-game activities? And how many of those mounts are available from in-game activities that aren't endgame?

Very few mounts can be earned ingame or be bought via ingame gold. Indrik since December and the 4 horses from any stablemaster. That's it. I will also add the psijic horse from that competition a couple of months ago. Depending on how many percentage of players did an exploration achievement on Summerset anyone who participated would either get A, pet, B Horse and Pet or C, Pet, Horse + house. We got them all, which yes was awesome. Huge txs to ZoS for that!




But that's it for earning mounts ingame. But this is something ZoS is clearly working on. However adding what is practically a complete copy of it to the store...nah. Unless people like to do trials it makes you wonder like "why bother do some new super hard trial on hardmode when I can just buy the almost exact same mount."

There've been a few more mounts added to the game "for free," if you met certain prerequisites. The Tiger Senche was given to players who'd subbed for 300 days between the April 2014 launch and the end of mandatory subscriptions. (I want to say that, technically, the cutoff was in February 2015, but I'm not 100% sure.) Then there was the Nix-Ox which was given to owners of Morrowind late in 2017. If you owned Vvardenfell and logged in, you got the mount.

In addition to the login reward mounts, those are the only ones that come to mind right now.

You all act like this is the first time they've done something like this. They released a pallet swapped factotum polymorph in the crown store for those who didn't want to try for the one from completing vAS (hardmode?). They also released a skin similar to the one you can get from unlocking it in IC. And I think they even had a similar scamp pet to the one you unlock there. They make very minor changes so the people who earn the achievement unlocked one feel superior to those who open their wallets.

They do this because if they locked something behind some extremely difficult achievement that the average player will never be able to achieve, they wouldn't hear the end of it. This is their middle ground. You want a slightly less fancy version of a mount that is essentially the same as the one from working hard from doing difficult content by opening your wallet? Go for it! Those that the prefer a icy fire cat with a golden saddle will be perfectly happy to put in the work for it.

They should just invert the colors to make it obvious who played and who paid.

Does it really matter? I mean they are just pixels on a screen. At the end of the day the only people who care about your accomplishment is you and maybe a few friends. Other than that most people will see it, maybe say "cool" and move on. Aren't video games supposed to about fun and not worrying about what other players are doing?
