    I am also experiencing EXACTLY what you are describing. Ironically if I start a new char, everything is absolutely perfect....ergo....its definitely NOT our connection which has an issue but their server. ZOS Community Managers? Please respond to us.

    I also found that when I traveled to a group member with my original character, the issue came back again... So I re-logged as the new char, then re-logged as my 'bugged' character and again I was able to play.

    Some kinda crazy flagging on pre-patch characters sounds plausible.

    Since early access I've had terrible lag, and constant DC'ing due to 'unknown error' - game is completely unplayable at the moment.

    My internet and WoW working no problems with 25 ms on WoW (which I think is pretty good).

    I've left a ticket for customer support to ring me. It said the waiting time is an hour, no one has called in 3 hours.

    Not really sure what to do since I can't play the game and no one can be bothered to ring me. I've decided to cancel my sub for now at least.

    Such a shame, I love elder scrolls games and I've been the biggest supporter of ESO before launch but I'm completely fed up now.

    That's what it is starting to sound like. For the hell of it I made a new Toon, and was able to play just fine. I'm thinking that one of the following has taken place:
    1. Data Storage issue - Some flag or property on the toons was mis-set and was supposed to be somewhere else the game is looking for.
    2. Bugged quest taken/completed which causes the system to think something is not right. Panic boot them.
    3. Some item interaction that was removed from the game, but our characters have interacted with and caused a property to be set.
    4. Data storage client side. The server expects it to be one place and it wasn't. Maybe the patch moved/deleted/replaced it with something that doesn't work.

    I would think that they'd probably want to see our client setup on our PC/Macs and maybe verify it against one of their in house setups. The problem seems to be something either client side is not where it should be or someone sneezed when working with the code and put a bracket or function call in the wrong place for the older toons.

    Was playing earlier and used the quit option and now cannot get back in. Same "unknown error" as above. Error kicks me out of the game after i try to load a character.

    SO! I got a response to my trouble ticket.
    Keep in mind I have sent them the log files that they wanted concerning the bug and everything. This is my "response"....

    I've been talking to customer service about this as well, I've offered to send them everything I can to help them sort this out but they eventually just started repeating everything they told me. Told me to send the same diagnostic files a second time, keep telling me to turn off my computers protection and update my graphics card drivers. I've tried all of that, none of it has helped, nobody else has had their problem fixed by doing any of that stuff, and they just keep feeding you the same crap instead of just finally admitting that this isn't some problem my computer is causing but their inability to create stable netcode.

    This pretty annoying and can happen at any time. Just standing, crafting, riding along, in combat.
    Yesterday I tracked this and out of about 6 hours play this happened 11 times.
    As someone who works with software developers, I find it concerning that they are not collecting any error information when this happens?? Not a single file in my error folder?? Strange to pop an error message but basically do nothing about it?
    This along with the absurd amount of server lag will be what will cause me to find another game after the 30 days.

    Update..
    So I finally got through the the Customer Service team. I spoke with one of their CSRs named Mark. He logged into the game with me and actually saw the issue happen live. So he's promised to push this up to the dev team, just in case SOMEHOW they were completely ignorant of the issue.

    I've offered to upload my mac client if they need it, so we will see what comes of it, but he honestly seemed concerned about the lack of acknowledgement.

    Update...
    Im playing from a college and here is a P2P restriction, it seems like the game need to open some ports to have an stable conection. The problem is that I can´t open the ports by myself and my ISP won´t do it because I wanna play. All other mmos dont need the P2P , they have also an option to disable peer to peer that TESO dont have
    Please try to understand the community and give global advice to all the people that can´t play atm....

    Well I have a FIX that it worked for me. If you are in a college university and cant contact with your ISP .
    Use a VPN (Free one) and conect to a foreign server that pass the bloqued p2p and you can play. Is a temporary solution so please ZoS let the game work without open p2p ports.

    So frustrated! This bug is really making me want to stop playing...since I can't seem to stay connected for more than 5-20 minutes without getting kicked with the good old "unknown error". CS is no help and I can't seem to find an official response to this issue either. Man, I would take a simple, "hey, we are looking in to it." Maybe I should just cancel and come back when it's free to play. idk /sadface

    Yes, we are continuing to work on that as well, though that is a technical issue. The "Unknown Error Occurred" message is a catch-all for any number of issues, so it is not indicative of a single problem. We encourage those encountering this error to please contact our Support Team.

    Over the last few days I've had this problem much less frequently.

    I have no idea if it's just luck or if there have been some adjustments, though. It does still occur, but instead of every 2-3 minutes, it's much less frequent.

    I've also having this 'Unknown Error' problem since my first beta. At the moment I'm having the Unknown Error quite often. Yesterday it appeared... say... 8 times in three hours. I've been contacting the support and hopefully it will be solved some day. Just sending them as much information as I can about the specs of my PC and so on...

    Same, try using tables in game, like alchemy or forge, and nothing happens. I can talk to people in guild just fine, but cannot use any in-game equipment that requires pressing 'E' like doors and tables. Eventually, it just crashes with 'unknown error'... I can't even fight anything because clicking mouse buttons and pressing numbers for abilities has such a huge amount of lag. I sincerely hope they fix this and then recoup the players fairly for this, the game is completely unplayable right now.

    Been having same issue, reported many times issues like this, happens for me that I get dropped during loading of busy areas, the pvp area in large groups, its like data doesnt get through, happened to me 2x in a row now in a group doing spindelglutch on last boss, i get dropped, but its weird, the game freezes or least doesnt take commands and stalls...I then alt f4 to get out because its just standing still and then i get the crash report of course...

    I then log in and get errors 200, 301...whatever else and im thinking its due to my character still being active in the world...I eventually get to log in and get to character select, then load again to hopefully get back into the group then it loads...and loads...and loads...till bam, unknown error occured would happen (oh btw they were so nice with patc 1.0.3 that they actually changed this error now to "An error has occurred. Please wait a few minutes and log in again." AWESOME...so helpful, so nice to know my imperial edition I pre ordered got me this and you know I can handle a lot because of the fact that its a new game but really there is no response, there is no help and they keep asking me the same info for my tickets I submitted 2x in the last 24hours...this is Zenimax at its best eh?

    Suggest going back to Skyrim and other MMOS where least they give you something after practically stealing your money, even if its only the idea of you getting something out of it.

    Every time I get this 'bug' it seems to be because I am I log in an 'instanced' zone for my character(via quest/story) or in a group(dungeon).
    If I had to put money on it, it is because my char gets lost in some black hole where as it appears, the whole account becomes jeopardized.

    Finally got rid of the "Error 301" message and am now hit with this "An unknown error has occurred." after only being in the game for 5 minutes.

    Same error here, Support tell me strange solution (my router...). But my ping is 45ms and zero loss patch. So I think ESO have some unresolved problems. Anyone has a solution about this (without uninstall game)? TY

    Got it today and yesterday while in Cyrodiil. In the middle of PvP and with a good group and when I come back I got no group anymore :/ Today it even upped a bit. Got unknown error twice and then error 301 directly after one another. Very funny.
