With OP’s suggestion we should just create NPCs and just have players pick out their gear.

No more gear drops. No more needing to clear vet dungeons for monster helms. No more needing to clear arenas for species weapons because we are all entitled to them.

BTW, Zos is more likely to double down on perfect weapons in the more challenging content than to make it easier to get the existing ones.

can I then also buy a alliance Rank 50 there?
im too lazy to git gud enough in PVP to get there on my own...

So, the well-rounded players, who do both PVP AND PVE have access to weapons that are stronger than those who only do one type of content.

Seems fair. They do more, they get more.

You don't need perfected gear unless you're pushing leaderboards. Doesn't sound like you're doing that, so why are you worried about that extra 1k resources?

I disagree with the OP. For me things like perfected weapons, or the Tamriel Skyshard Hunter achievement are rewards that only players who have dared to challenge even the deadliest monsters and situations should have. If I want perfected weapons, then I accept that I must hone the skills necessary to overcome these challenges. It gives me something to work toward even as a level 50/max CP character/player. I wouldn't want to see those deep endgame rewards changed.

What's the point of reaching the max potential if you don't wanna put any effort on it?

Its not just about need, it about the feeling of that you will never be complete in gear, in games like this people like to reach their max potential, its not worth it to upgrade non perfected gear to gold and in general you will never get BiS gear so that is very discouraging.

Vet trials are extreemly hard enough on their own, its probably enough of a challenge to get BiS gear

Don't let it bother you. But if you want the gear, do the content.

Ugg. These threads are in every MMO. People who don’t want to raid want raid gear for some strange reason, even though it’s not required for any content outside raiding, and even then since you get it from raiding vet you don’t need it even there.

People want rewards without doing any work, rewards they don’t need, it’s ridiculous.

I can’t stand the perfected gear system but I understand it.

At least its understandable and makes some sense.

What doesn’t, why the most important weapons for end game content a locked behind a solo dungeon/trial/event?

I kinda like the Perfected gear progression. Perfected vs normal sets is less than 2% gain in DPS, so really not significant for anything other than score pushing. IMO there needs to be a reward for doing the hardest content in the game. Easily obtaining all the best gear would quickly make content boring. There is already a lack of character progression with the static CP cap, gear progression is the only method of character advancement in end game.

Veteran Trials are already insanely hard on no hard mode and very few percentage of the players ever manage to beat them, even fewer on hard mode. Hard mode isn't supposed to be content that is done by the average or even good player, it is there for the elite 1% of the community.

This new trend of locking perfected gear behind hard mode, also every set having multiple peaces meaning you have to do it a lot to get all what you need, is just stupid and discouraging. 99% of the player base will never have BiS gear and can never hope to get it.

Leave progression gear out of hard mode and keep it for cosmetics and leaderboards and those who just want a challenge. Don't lock the best game gear behind it.

P.S. I know already there will be comments of oh, why don't they just hand you the gear when you just walk in the trial or dumb generic stuff like that, we can just completely ignore them since this is just a standard bot response regardless of the situation or context.

    Generic Response#1: Earn it
    Generic Response#2: Git Gud
Generic Response#3: No point in having better gear if you can't complete the content....because better gear will not make you better.
    Generic Response#4: Waaah!

Hard content in this game needs more incentive then just cosmetic rewards. The way they do it now with the perfected gear is good. Not ridiculously better but just better enough to motivate people to get into the more difficult content. Perfected weapons are not progression weapons. Nobody NEEDS perfected gear to take part in the content or even do leaderboard runs, they’re a bonus. They’re something extra for the players who are willing to put in the time and effort to get good enough to do this hard content and earn these rewards. What is wrong with that?

Players who do the harder content should get the more powerful rewards, it’s the way it should be. I find it absolutely baffling that some people actually think people who do the much easier version of a trial should be rewarded on exactly the same level as those people who stepped up and conquered the challenge of the hard content. Ridiculous.

Of course it needs to be locked behind something hard as ***, so you would actually need to see some effort to get it. We don't need another failure with gear like World of Warcraft that is so casual where you can get the gear from basically just logging in.

I am very happy how ESO does it atm and i truly hope they don't change it.

And to be fair, there are some guilds who are selling drops, so to speak, so if you feel like you really need the gear, like really need it and don't want to work for it, there is your option.

That is coming from someone who will probably never bother with any perfect runs either. I suck at animation cancelling, just can't get a hold of it, so I won't ever be competitive. But I play this game for fun, amongst other things, so there is no "need" for a perfected gear when (talking about CR) the only difference is a 1k resource. My race choices are dependent on what I like, not what is BiS either, so yea, there is no need for an entitlement when it is the reward for a hard work.

On the other hand, with the new Meridian skin, that is a better choice, locking cosmetics behind hardmode, no death, speed run achievements is actually far more annoying in my opinion than a miniscule BiS gear locked behind trials.

Perfected gear is for score pushing

If you can’t complete the regular vet, you don’t need the perfected gear

Why would you expect to get endgame, best-the-game-can-offer gear just by doing the cake walk of normal trials?
