I am pretty new to this style of gaming and don't really understand everything yet, but I was looking at joining a guild and this sounds like a great one. I am a team player and just want to have fun. If you'll have me I'd be honored to join, but I'll probably have fair amount of questions trying to learn.

Couldn't agree more. Don't let that stop you! As someone who never RP in an MMO before ESO, I can tell you this is a great group to learn with. I'm sure everyone (myself included) would be happy to answer your questions, just like they answered mine.

since the website is still pending, I'll post this here for now...

starting tonight, and offering until a group of people either decide to take advantage of it, or it becomes clear no one is interested, I'm offering up a nice, simple, introductory RP adventure for folks.

I'll log in around 23:30 PST, and hang out as Ayddenn in the Rosy Lion Inn in Daggerfall for about half an hour - by 24:00 at least, and possibly earlier, depending on who/how many show up and when, I'll set up the basic "premise", at which point we'll head out adventuring...

I'll be using only the open world and open-world instances, so hopefully we should avoid most of the phasing issues, and the entire experience will be a gentle opportunity to "be" your character, and interact with other people's characters, while having a light story structure to focus your efforts.

I have a few simple rules for any RP adventures I host - MOST of these, most people will already know, but there's always one guy, so just for the sake of having said so up front...

1 - RP is a cooperative story-telling experience. That means you cannot expect to "force" your own outcomes on other participants against their will, and by the same token, you should be relatively free to play your role without having other people "force" you into their own preferred role or outcome. Please, respect your fellow story-tellers, and consider "adjusting" your own story when possible, to accomodate/interact/intersect with others without being overwhelmingly selfish.

2 - while I support "mature" role playing themes, given the nature of the elder scrolls world, there are limits. I will not tolerate overt torture, brutality, or offensive criminal acts against other players or even the various npc's in the world. I'm not going to make other players experience ripping out people's eyes or murdering someone's daughter to make them talk, that sort of thing.

Also, any erotic RP is right-out. I have no objection to romantically involved characters, but anything explicit needs to be...taken somewhere else. Both for the sake of not violating TOS, and just respecting the boundaries of other players.

3 - I will provide a story "seed" - I by no means demand that people follow a "script", but the seed provides a focus, and I'd appreciate it for this PARTICULAR event, if people would try to stick more-or-less to the primary "plot" of the story - in other words, please don't allow yourselves to get TOO distracted by other story ideas or whatnot - this is an opportunity to "be" your character in a modest story, not a chance to co-opt the "story" to make everyone live your personal drama.

This time - in the future, I'll be happy to write adventure plots that reveal or otherwise explore one particular player's personal drama - but for this PARTICULAR event, I'd like people to just sorta relax, be themselves, while following a light story structure.

I know that sounds like a lotta rules, and if you're uncomfortable with the requirements, I assure you, there are lots of other members in the guild with less requirements for RP, and you are more than free to join those efforts whenever you feel like it, and with my blessing. But, these are the above rules I ask people to follow if they're going to participate in an event *I* am hosting, just to keep things civil and relatively straightforward.

I hope this might be an exciting and entertaining opportunity for many of our guildmembers, and I look forward to meeting you all in more detail soon.

I will keep offering this event up for several nights in a row if there's no immediate interest, or also if there's a great deal of interest and other people would like to do it on a different night. If anyone has any questions, feel free to respond to this post (no need to quote the whole thing) or just send me a forum PM.

    Have fun all!

Is this straight RP or adventure/RP? I.E. do we care about character levels?

    good question...

I'm...flexible on character levels. It's going to be open world, adventure, exploration; presumably including combat at various points, so, quite frankly, we can take almost anyone - people under level will be vulnerable, which can make a great feature for the higher level people to protect - over level people might make things *too* easy, but as it's an RP event, there are any number of excuses we can create to limit their combat effectiveness

perhaps they're injured, perhaps they need to hold on to a key document, perhaps they carry a terrible secret and if they're seen, it might call down some terrible consequence - there's lots of flexibility to keep things relatively even-field while accommodating almost anyone

so, I'll take anyone that has access to the daggerfall zone (which would be anyone daggerfall covenant, I expect), and I'll make whatever adjustments we need on the fly to handle level/class disparities, if the players are willing to help me out a little bit by playing a supporting role in the story.

    also, I just realized something...

while I have plenty of experience running RP in general, I have next to no experience using the communication tools of ESO - if anyone is willing, could you help catch me up on the following questions?

1 - how far, roughly, does /say reach?
2 - can we make custom emotes (like, /emote dances a happy little jig)?
3 - if so (above), how do they display on people's chat channels?
4 - also (above), how far out do they reach?
5 - are there easily accessible (not having to use add-on mods or coding) ways to change chat color inputs?
6 - in previous efforts, have people used group/party chat for their RP? or is using /say, /yell and /emote working sufficiently?

anything else I should know offhand about using chat channels for RP use?

I appreciate any input someone has - different games have different ways to get different communications across, and I haven't really tested out ESO's comm tools yet...

Guild standing rules are that Say, Yell & Group are IC. The reason Group is IC is because the rang of Say is short. We try to use Say when possible, to encourage outside RP, but sometimes you have to use Group to involve all group members in the RP.

Hey @phermitgb‌ great idea and initiative, keep it up.

    On to your questions.

1.- Like Ras said before /say covers a very short distance, but is used to encourage outside RP.

2.- /e will let you do your personalized emotes (also /me does the trick)

3.- It displays by default as a purple message.

4.- Haven't test it, but I'm guessing pretty much the same as say. (I remember for the first RP event at Rosy Lion, I was by the fireplace and could see every /emote there. Just to give you some scale)

5.- Every chat color input can be customized in the preferences, social menu. There you can choose whatever color you like for every diferent chat input (/say, /yell, /group, etc.) Really helpful to separate your different guilds since by default they are all the same color or to personalize it the way you like it.

6.- Again what Ras just said before.

Hope this answers your questions and if you still have more, just keep asking them ;)

Wow this sounds like a great guild! I haven't been a member of an RP guild since years and years and years ago in WoW around the time BC came out. I'm probably a little rusty about how to RP but I would love to join you guys. I'll be on most of the day today even though the weather here is super nice because I'm out with some tendonitis in my foot. My in-game handle is @DanyRose. Thanks :D

I have a Bosmer Mage who is a bit like a mythological faun in personality. He's a hunter and gatherer but also will get into a bacchanal mood. He can also use the power of nature to heal. He's Daggerfall Covenant and this guild sounds like a nice addition to my game's slowly growing social dynamic. If you want to contact me in game, my handle is [at] walpurgisnacht - I am also an old school book and dice gamer, and took a break from video games back in 2009 in order to seriously draft my own game after coming up with a dice concept that was totally innovative. It's in the final draft stage now and I plan to use Kickstarter and the traditional means of getting your game out there - gaming conventions - once I finish it. Because its in the final draft stage, I let up on my moratorium on computer gaming in order to do a kind of 'catch my breath' action for the final hurdle back in August 2013. I also have a little guild of my own that seems to be forming mostly in Ebonheart called The Shadows. It's not really oriented towards goals like banks or stores or Cyrodiil campaigns, since you can have up to five guilds anyway. The point of the Shadows is to construct a story of a gang of vigilant outcasts. There are two other members that basically joined last night and started the beginning of that story with my Ebonheart character. I'll look up you guys in-game.

ESO is my first "real" MMO (I've done tons of F2P ones over the years). What I love about Elder Scrolls games is the immersion that I feel when I play them. I feel that I am there, in the story. I get incredibly attached to my characters (and I usually only have one for each game because of this). With ESO, I run a social guild for the "Gaming Mommies" community, but it's just that: social. What I would LOVE are a few buddies in-game who I can share an adventure with. I've been reading this thread, and it really seems like the kind of thing I'm looking for. I've never been in an RP guild, but I used to do forum-based roleplay back in the day.

That said, my character, Lorien Arrowhawk, is a Bosmer who found herself in the Ebonheart Pact. I've been trying to find her a male, lion-like Khajiit friend to adventure with (perfect since they would both be expats from Aldmeri Dominion). I'm personally on a lot (though I AM a mom, so sometimes my time is distracted), so I think having a guild like this would help keep me immersed further than just the story line.

Ah, yes, I thought that might be a hiccup.

I'll make a thread and see if I can't find something that way. Thank you for your consideration, though! If I ever make a DC character, I'll remember to look you guys up. :)

I've been looking for a guild that has an extremely casual approach to playing and character building, and an appreciation for role-playing. I'm Aussie, and I see there are other Aussies here, so I'm happy there may be people playing in my timezone also :)

One of the things I enjoy most about past Elder Scrolls games is the freedom in character creation and gameplay, you could play as any character class or combination of, and still succeed and have fun one way or another.
With ESO, I feel that I have to restrict my choices and follow are more rigid class development to participate successfully in a group - if I wanted to make sure I was a good healer, I'd have to pass-up on other skills and abilities I wanted to play with. Otherwise, as I've been told, I suck at healing. Mixing up your skill lines works if you play solo and in past games, but some players who really "play the game" don't appreciate or have time for playing to character. Playing their role is a bigger focus.

TLDR; I wanna play Elder Scrolls online, not Elder Scrolls: The MMO. Is this the guild for me?

I would say YES! Try contacting me or @Tarie (Oceanic Officer).

If you play how you want to play, the only thing you have to worry about would be dungeons or raids. These you could fill a dps slot and likely be fine. This game is more forgiving about roles. You should have no problem RPing & living in the world with us.

Hi everyone, this seems like an interesting RP guild, and I would like to apply :) Here's my character details:

    Server: NA
    Alliance: Daggerfall Covenant
    Account Name: @‌Sylpharionz
    Character Name: Vayne Dawnblade
    Race: Imperial
    Class: Templar
    Role: Tank/Heal
    Level: 50 VR1
    Crafting: Blacksmithing 30, Woodworking 27
Timezone: Singapore ( GMT+8 ), but generally flexible especially weekends

And a short character introduction to my RP:

Vayne was an orphan. A vigilant of Stendarr found him by the countryside of Chorrol and decided to raise him as his own child. As a devout follower of Stendarr, Vayne was raised in the art of blade and healing. His last name Dawnblade was given to him for his courage and righteous nature, inspired by the Divine Crusader gauntlets that he saw in Chapel of Stendarr in Chorrol when he was a child.

Vayne enlisted in the Imperial Legion, and was assigned to guard the border between Cyrodiil and Hammerfell. He was on a patrol when the soulburst happened, which devastated the Imperial City and most of its surroundings, including his hometown. In the midst of chaos caused by the Daedra invasion and with nowhere else to go, Vayne sought refuge in the city of Elinhir in the eastern Hammerfell.

Vayne vowed to eradicate the Daedra from his homeland, and thus joined the Daggerfall Covenant in their effort to reclaim the Imperial City. He quickly earned the trust of the covenant members, by aiding them in their domestic problems, most notably in getting rid of the many Daedric anchors spread throughout their regions. His Stendarr way of living had also become a source of inspiration to rally the people against the force of evil.

Vayne spent his time mastering his skills in blade and using the power of light to heal his comrades. He had also learned the mastery of blacksmithing and woodworking from a famous master crafter in Alik'r Desert. Joining the front line of the alliance, Vayne is now ready to test his skills in combat against Molag Bal, the Daedric Prince behind all of this. But to do that, he needs to first uncover the dark secrets and powers hidden in the many ruins spread throughout the world, to hopefully find Molag Bal's weakness. And he wouldn't be able to do that without the aid of his comrades.

I would love to join a guild that is more casual. I have been playing TES games since the first one and almost exclusively as a wood elf archer/alchemist (Nightblade in this one). Having said that, having 3 kids, a real life, and other non-gaming hobbies (similar to my in game hobbies) makes being a member of guild difficult and I have been turned off of guilds almost altogether in other games because of this.

I am looking for a guild where doing something other than just running dungeons or fighting battles is respected, as I enjoy the crafting and resource collecting part of the game just as much as I do the fighting. I prefer smaller groups too, as I am an extreme introvert, even in gaming (why I loved TES series because it was single player).

Is this the right guild for me?
